Not every f*ckin day dreaming about feelings and how you care about them -- like a woman nursing a kid. The bone of contention was your debt. How come your debt to GDP ratio is at a whopping 86%? How come you have borrowed more from IMF when your mini zoo is resource sufficient? Bravo for not l*cking @sses, though!!good for good, you good notwithstanding. |

We are 2nd source of investment to Africa after South Africa. Kenya is not easy market for foreigners because we have very sophisticated domestic economy. Ask South Africans if they dare come to Kenya. We have many homegrown companies that are expanding to the region and now even Nigeria. In a typical year we invest more than 1 billion dollars in the region. Last year alone Kenya's Safaricom gave Ethiopia more than 1.5B dollars - 800M dollars for license fee and now we are putting more dollars down there - there single largest foreign investment. We are going big into Congo. Once we open up Congo and Ethiopia ...that 210M market...and we get Ghana and Nigeria via AFCAT - we will soon overtake the dying South Africa. Almost every medium size kenya company has a branch in Ug, Tz, Rwanda, South Sudan...name it. obaaderemi: 1 Like |

Before Nigeria and South Africa wake up - Kenya banks will be running the 80M people DRC - with 95% unbanked population. GOLD MINE. KCB Group has entered the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) through the acquisition of a majority stake in Trust Merchant Bank (TMB), becoming the second Kenyan lender to enter the populous market as top local banks step up the fight for new customers in the East African region. KCB said it has entered a definitive agreement with shareholders of TMB with the transaction expected to close in the third quarter of 2022. https://www.theeastafrican.co.ke/tea/business/kcb-acquires-dr-congo-bank-in-expansion-drive-3901282 “This will see KCB acquire 85 percent of the shares in TMB while the existing shareholders will continue to hold the balance for a period of not less than two years after which KCB will acquire their assets,” said KCB. “KCB will pay a cash consideration for the shares determined based on the net asset value of TMB at the completion of the proposed transaction, and using a price to book multiple of 1.49.” TMB is a public company limited by shares and has a strong offering in retail, corporate, and small and medium enterprises. Once the acquisition of TMB is concluded, it will complement KCB’s regional footprint with an asset base of more than Ksh1.5 trillion ($12.6 billion). Add Ethiopia that will soon be opening up as they will be desperate to rebuild after mindless civil-war The deal now means KCB has a presence in eight countries including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan and DRC. It also runs a representative office in Ethiopia. 1 Like |

Long overdue decision - BioTech finally embraced in kenya. President William Ruto Monday chaired a Cabinet meeting that lifted the 2012 moratorium that restricted importation or open cultivation of GMO crops, making Kenya the second country in the continent after South Africa to allow biotechnology foods. |

Mkenya2019:DRC is a very chaotic enclave. You will lose your shirt there. There's a reason they're 90% unbanked. You've been playing this catch-up banking game for six years here. You can't catch up with Nigerian and South African banks. DRC can not help you. |

Equity already get more profit from DRC than even Kenya. KCB is hot on the heels. By the time you discover the jackpot - you wont know what hit you. Nobody is unbankable. Leave South Africa out of this - one South African bank can handle 10 Nigerian one. Let talk Nigeria versus Kenya - right now only 4 Nigerian banks are ahead of two Kenyan banks - and I bet KCB with investment in DRC - should be now just below 2 or 3 Nigerian banks. https://www.thebanker.com/Top-1000-World-Banks/Top-1000-World-Banks-African-lenders-on-the-rise-across-the-continent?ct=true obaaderemi: 2 Likes |

Actually scratch that - KCB has now moved to just below First Bank and Zenith Bank; Equity just below UBA. And Kenya banks just got started - by time they are done with DRC and then we hope Ethiopia see sense; South Africa will be very worried. I think we are done with Nigeria - just one or two more expansions - KCB and Equity will beat both Zenith and First bank While your Nigeria banks expand mindlessly burning money - Kenya expansion is well thought out. I pray Ethiopia desperate after their mindless war allows private banks and stop their marxist communism tendenacy......then Kenya banks will conquer Africa outside South Africa and Magreb - followed closely by Insurance Fintech, Telcoms, ICT. https://biznakenya.com/top-25-banks-in-africa-2-kenyan-banks-rank-high/ 1 Like |

How does that work? Sounds to me that apart from getting into messy downstream business of running filling stations - I dont see how this will work. So they will change their accounting systems but the board will remain from gov? And management will be from gov. The only way out is to sell at least 40 percent of shares to big oil company like Amarco or something that can provide strategic leadership... GeneralDae: 1 Like |
