NNPC-It has never made profit for 45yrs - and has never paid dividend.
Compare oranges with oranges.
Kenya SOES in oil industry are Kenya Pipeline,National Oil of kenya and KPRL (Kenya Oil refineries) -
Kenya Pipeline almost annually makes 100M dollars in profit - and has therefore earned Kenya gov billions.
And has never made a loss.
How do you make loss selling petrol smiley or gassmiley

Kenya Pipeline - manages the downstream finished oil product pipeline from Mombasa to Nairobi, Kisumu, Eldoret and Nakuru

KPC Managing Director Macharia Irungu said over time, the company had provided a good return on investments to its shareholder.
"We have grown to be one of the largest parastatal in Kenya. During the last eight years, we have generated over Sh80 billion in profits before tax and paid over Sh 50 billion in taxes to the government during the period,"Irungu said.

Yet another south africa company retreat from Africa - minus their shirt.

“Massmart initiated a process over a 12-month period to investigate... the opportunity to sell our East and West African stores to local investors. Unfortunately, this initiative did not deliver a meaningful outcome,” the company said.

Massmart chief executive Mitchell Slape last year said the chain had begun a formal sales process to divest five Game stores in Nigeria, four in Ghana, three in Kenya, one in Uganda, and one in Tanzania.

Just stick to what you know man. NNPC has always been the major remitter to the Nigerian Government until first quarter of this year. This is one of the best years for NNPC but it has not remitted due to increase in expenses. There's a huge uptick in subsidy payments this year. It is also working on refineries, building more stations in addition to subsidy payments.

There have also been a 50% decrease in oil production in Nigeria since 2021 but despite that NNPC has made billions of dollars from crude oil in the first half of this year ( definitely over 15 billion dollars if I'm not mistaken) and about 4 billion dollars from gas exports alone in that first 6 months. However there is the desire for expansion of gas infrastructures and refinery repairs hence the focus have shifted from mainly remitting to Government account like they always did in time past, to making profit.

We've said it here before: Saffas tend to have a rigid top-down approach founded upon wrong assumptions that leads to tears.

However, those who have interacted with South African corporates point out that one of the reasons they have failed to make inroads in Kenya is the fact that they take a domineering outlook in managing their outfits, which does not go down well with Kenyans.
[urlhttps://nation.africa/kenya/life-and-style/smart-company/why-south-african-companies-find-it-tough-in-kenya-538596][/url]

This story is from 2007!?

“Kenyan businesses are very developed in all their systems, procedures and processes than those in markets that the South Africans have conquered like Uganda, Tanzania etc, something that enables them to withstand the South African onslaught,” SBO Training Managing Director Catherine Ngahu says.

We told these guys, IIRC.

There is also the question of a feel-good attitude of South Africa being more advanced than the rest of the continent, making them believe theirs is the best prescription that should go unquestioned. Mr Ncheeri recalls an instance where one of the directors from South Africa called in his office and after an argument retorted. “Sam you must do what you are told. You don’t answer back.”

They'll keep reinforcing failure it seems. At some point competent 3rd party forensic failure analysis must come into play but I wonder.

You think he doesn't know the truth? He is just arguing for the sake of pride. If NNPC is a major stakeholder in the hugely successful NLNG, then there's no way government is not earning good money from NNPC. He said the entire money his government gets from public investment is #300m only. Then I shocked him with$400m from NLNG alone. grin

1800 petrol stations in the whole of little India. grin grin grin grin Kikuyu1, come and help your braindead boss here.
Lagos alone should have more than that. And Oando with close to 400 outlets will be one of Kenya's biggest companies then. No wonder students from one of your leading universities came to understudy Oando, and you are here saying nobody knows Oando. grin People like you don't matter Even in Kenya.

We held a two-day knowledge transfer session with
Masters of Oil and Gas Law (LL.M) students from the
Strathmore University Law School, Nairobi, Kenya at our
head office. Our company was selected by the University as
the preferred indigenous sector leader for the academia
visit on the basis of its knowledge pool, success stories
and impact on the local and African oil and gas industry.

The highlight of the day was a session with our Group
Chief Executive, Adewale Tinubu , who shared his
experience as a trained lawyer that envisioned a brighter
future as an entrepreneur in the Nigerian oil and gas sector
and his aspirations for the sector.
On the second day, the students were invited to a tour of
the company’s downstream affiliate, OVH Energy in Apapa.
On conclusion of the tour, Micheal Horeria, a student
said: “This visit to Nigeria, to spend time with both the
private sector and the Government will save Kenya from
potential pitfalls. What you are doing here at Oando can be
replicated across Africa. The leadership, the quality of work,
the talent pool, their in-depth knowledge is evidence of great
investment and real added value to both the business and
the sector.”

Old man Kikuyu, ask yourself why gotv and DStv remain the biggest paytv companies in little India. Are they not South African companies. Why are they still in little India and the south African retailers are leaving.

Truth is your retail sector is bad. That's why they're leaving. Where's nakumatt today? Nakumatt used to be little India's largest retailer. It died a painful death. Your economy does not support foreign investment. No wonder your fdi inflow is so tiny. Come on, you of all people should know this.
