level10: Your story does not add up as you add some unnecessary details. level10: I asked you before when you will be returning back to Nigeria considering your opinion about the UK. I know the answer to that question as i have come across a lot of people like you before They have nothing good to say about the UK but they will never leave, they blame everything on racism apart from themselves. Everything doesn't have to be linked to the colour of our skin, we need to know our short comings and work on it rather than always blaming someone else even when we failed because we are not good enough. 18 Likes 1 Share |

justwise: Unrelated: That is exactly the question I always ask moaners. Recently someone was asking my advice on whether to move and was telling me all sorts of horror stories their relative had told them, to support the stance that UK is bad and Nigeria is better. So I asked 'Oh does that your relative live in Lagos too now?' No prizes for guessing the answer lol. 1 Like |

AlphaUno: Those families who stayed months before renting their own place probably paid twice as much for airbnb/hotel per month as they would have in rent. So the cost of staying three months for instance could feasibly have been the cost of rent for six months. So paying for a long time upfront can actually be very prudent financially. Afterall they would still pay the rent anyway. Some universities are advising students not to resume at all this session because their cities have literally run out of accommodation, so it's not a case of 'perseverance', and it's not desperation that is worsening the housing crisis - there's literally not enough housing for the people in the country and those coming in - it's an infrastructure crisis. Ultimately, the strategy that will work for everyone differs - let's not be too quick to insult people for taking different routes than we had to. 9 Likes |

Lexusgs430: I mean if you were born here and your mum&dadd lived and worked here for 27yrs surely they are citizens or have ILR, that also means that you are eligible for citizenship, so how did you skip all that and come here on spouse visa? 7 Likes |

koonbey: In 2018 i travelled to Nigeria and a friend visited me, while we were chatting he asked if i have investments in Nigeria i said no and explained t issues i have with investing in Nigeria. This brother started telling me why its important to invest in Nigeria and not the UK and one of the many reasons he gave was that...one day the white man can decide to strip all foreigners of their citizenship and ask us to leave, no place like home, you are a king and lion bla bla bla Last year he contacted me asking for info about relocating to the UK as Nigeria situation is unbearable...i remembered to ask him about his comment few years ago but i held my peace. My point is..no place is heaven but where ever you found yourself make an effort to enjoy it else move... 24 Likes 1 Share |

ugoonuoha:I was almost depressed. Filling different application forms like you are looking for a job and being told off at the end of the day. Sometimes you go for a viewing and meet like 10 other people viewing same apartment. Before you get home and submit your application, boom the house is taken. Mind you, me and my husband work full time, non smokers, no pets, no children . I thought these would help but for where? 4 Likes |

Stenvee: So sorry, I know the feeling! Accomodation is now kryptonite. I feel there should be a law to limit number of applicants per advert. Should be illegal for landlords to be using would be tenants to catch cruise. It should be basic info...where you work, income level, background check etc. For like maximum 5 ppl. Then you proceed with your candidate. If person falls through, go with backup option. Not dozens of application per house. Just compare with the ease of paying for house you like on the spot in Naija. First come first serve! |

Shanid: Yes if you been living together but the burden of proof that you have to produce is a lot. If you have then you are try , google unmarried partner, there lot of info on Google you’ve been living together in a relationship for at least 2 years when you apply https://immigrationbarrister.co.uk/what-is-a-relationship-akin-to-marriage/ |

Shanid: Yes. It doesn't have to be a married partner, but that means the burden to prove a 'subsisting relationship' becomes drastically higher. You must be ready with things like joint accounts, shared bills, chats, flight tickets etc etc. 1 Like |
