Your zoo is a disgrace to wakanda fraternity. You should give that gold to hardworking nations like Kenya and watch the pace. You can't be resource sufficient and wallow in debt at the same time.
Yeah speculation and reality

grin grin

Your zoo is busy undergoing a 6.3 billion double IMF package over the last 12 months all because of a 74% debt to GDP ratio.

Yet you want to compare yourself to a country that manage to reduced it debt ration from 86% to 68% by mere economic growth without an IMF package? Good luck
grin grin

Kenya despite all it resources couldn't get itself out of it stupid debt trap because you guys borrowed without thinking hence a 12 billion dollars yearly debt servicing cost... That is a 12 debt disaster looking at your ability to pay back.

Get over your country desperate debt situation 80 billion dollars is not small money... Anyway, what did you guys do with it?
Because it wasn't like the life of Kenyans improved.

Your access to electricity is still at 50%
Your tarred roads below 20k km
Your dependable electricity capacity at 1,800mw
With just 17% of homes connected to water in your country
With only 700km of SGR, last I checked.

So how did you balloon that kind of debt?

Take your doze and sleep, Zimbabwen man.

The Ghanaian cedi has dropped by a whopping 47.10% against the US dollar since the start of the year.

Since January, the cedi has rapidly depreciated against the US dollar, making it the world’s second-worst performing currency after the Sri Lankan rupee.

Also, Ghana’s inflation advanced faster than projected in July, as the value of the cedi fell, raising the cost of imported products such as cooking oil and gasoline.

Your mini zoo needs redemption.

I gave you reality and a foreseeable outcome. The reality is that you're doing 86%.
The meticulously calculated future debt to gdp for year 2022 is 104%.

That will not happen because my money retains lot of value ... It will even hold greater value with the current central bank gold purchasing scheme.

You Kenyans are the ones requiring lots of notes to buy bread.

Until you come to under currencies, you won't know how worthless the Kenyan shillings is. You think your central bank made it a managed currency for no reason? grin grin

The Nigerian naira seized being a managed currency in 2016 into a floating tradable currency and today it is more valuable than the Kenyan shillings with it current level of trust

While Ghana inflation jumped, it had a lesser impact on the average Ghanaian because the everyday need of the ordinary Ghanaian is mostly provided by the Ghanaian economy itself. The power of being an export led economy...

The double blow of inflation and depreciation dealth a disaster on your economy which has sent more Kenyans into poverty and starvation. This is all because your economy is import dependent

Foreign aid - grants - should be 1% or less. I hope you're not confusing it with A-I-A (Appropriation in Aid).
You see kenya is very progressive country - when we face problem - we reform and fix them.
In 1990s Foreign Aid was almost 60% of our budget - some countries were doing 99%. It was also main source of forex
So in 1993s all the donors met and decided to cut Aid - on the same day - because Moi mass human right violation (ethnic killings, torture)
So immediately our economy crashed - we had our only first and only hyper-inflation - Kshs dropped from 20 to dollar to 60 to a dollar.
Bread moved from being 2shs to 10shs. Everything went haywire. People savings were wipped out.

Suffice to say some countries like Ghana and Nigeria such nightmares are normal. 1993 was first and last hyperinflation in kenya - we lost a decade - though the hyperinflation lasted six months. Ghana and Nigeria ohoo boy - right now Ghana is in hyperinflation already.

Anyway we had start-stop donor aid flow and cut - as western nations - pushed Moi to accept democracy
But out of it - we started dealing seriously with donor dependence.

We formed KRA - we started to aggressively collect taxes - and by time Moi was leaving donor dependence had dropped from 60% to 10%.

Kibaki regime took from 10% to 2%.

Now it's less than 1 percent. We collect taxes plus A-I-A - and finance our development, social investment and are doing way better than Nigeria the zoo can imagine.

This novella is not necessary. Kenya's budget deficit keeps growing, hence the borrowing and the aid.
Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp2018: 5:30pm On Oct 07, 2022
Budget deficit is dropping annually - and our revenues are increasing at double digit - and economy grew at 7.5% (projected this year 5.5% despite election & global crisis)- the base lending rate is 8%. Kshs has only depreciated by 18% - the worst in recent history - and very good globally.

Ruto is going to soon unveil supplementary budget with a whooping 300B Kshs budget cut - and we will balance the budget in two years.

Kenya is not Nigeria or Ghana - we take hard decision way before things go south - and we know what prudent public finance is.

We have debt crisis that we will fix 1) reducing the budget 2) reducing borrowing 3) growing tax revenues - while growing the economy.

That is all happing because of the throwback hyperinflation in the Kenyan economy. What your country is facing is price inflation and it terrible effect on your population is damning

Same can't be said for Ghana while Ghana is facing monetary inflation whose effect does not normally translate into pricing as quickly as price inflation

Kenya economy is one of the weakest economy on the continent, highly bloated hence has no trickle down effect on it population.

I pray that Ghana doesnt end up in the debt cycle that Kenya has found itself where it is now paying wages out of acquiring more debt where you only see a face value growth which has no effect on the real economy.

There's a reason why the Japanese yen is more valuable than the Cedis and it all comes down to the money supply( inflows and outflows) while the Cedi has a better exchange rate than the yen.

Same can't be said for the kshs as it supply(inflows out flows) is lower than the Cedis and worse of all, it trading volume is non-existent..

Since you're focusing on exchange rate.... You still need 12 kshs to get 1 Cedi, unfortunately there's no trade between both countries to have a direct comparison.

In value terms it is even worse because you'll need as much as 30 kshs to get the value of a Cedi.. This is part of the reason why there's a higher standard of living in Ghana than Kenya
