Next time stick to standard recommendations for spacing, and all other agronomic procedures, especially as a newbie
Next time buy seeds that have fusarium and bacterial wilt tolerance during the rainy season( confirm from other farmers, as some of these marketers and seed companies can be funny with truth), also get a cultivar that has tolerance to nematodes or you treat your soil for nematodes
For this batch, all you can do is hope and pray

thanks for the reply boss, first of, i am a first time farmer and this is my pilot project..all i know about tomato farming,i learnt from this thread and watching farmer akinloye videos on youtube.
1) initially i planted just one seedling per spot but after transplanting i still have a lot of seedlings on the bed so i was convinced by some people to go ahead and double it,obviously that was my first mistake.
2) the weeds too are there because of the incessant rain fall, i have contracted someone to clear the weed but its been raining everyday..
3) there is no flood at all on the farm land, its actually compound ,it just happen to be a very big one,but there has never been insident of flooding.
4)i spary every 7 daysi have sprayed just 3 times, the tomatoes are just 26day old after transplanting(23 day in nursery)..i am using saaf, cabri duo and jumper d
5)the cultivar is royal bold f1 from harvest field...

please with your last statement are u suggesting it could be too much water?

3. You complained of incessant rainfall yet u said no flooding. When I said flood, I did not mean a large mass of water like those that ransacked communities. If the compound is fenced, it wl also create barrier for rain water to jet out. I normally puncture my fence at the base for this purpose.
5. Royal bold is a big fruit variety, so prepare very well for strong stakes.
6. It's wilting, it looks more like bacteria wilt than verticilium wilt. Both are usually activated by excess water in the soil. Fusarium wilt is more of dry season disease.

3) actually the land is on a slope, there is a big valley down the land so water doesnt stay at all...not even flash flood.
6)i am not sure there would be any plant left to stalk before they start fruiting.....they wilt by the dozen everyday.
Re: Step By Step Improve Way Of Cultivating TOMATOES by Alsenora: 1:40pm On Oct 01, 2022
It's most likely the variety you planted. A different breed might not have issues. I currently have two different types with one having zero issues while the other is quite similar with yours. The ones having issues in my field are trial seeds on few lines. You could try any other proven seed type peculiar to tropical low lands next time, however, the one you have might do well in a different site within the same geographic location.

Stop application of high nitrogeneous fertilizers like urea ASAP if you are still using it...

Two weeks more and my diva will turn red..

Can you recommend a good (disease resistance and good fruiting) brand for me?

If possible where can (contact) I get it/them.

Want to try it for Christmas (consumption).

Thanks

Very pathetic. In your next batch, adhere to the advice of contributors above esp getting seeds that have some level of disease resistance. Peace.

Good day house, please, what would you do with 50 acres of fertile farm land in the southwest to generate maximum profits? Good day and remain blessed.

How is the diva compared to platinum based on number of fruits, colour, sizes, and disease resistance
plantinum has More fruit that diva, diva is more red, diva big and same disease resistance. Below is the picture I took yesterday evening. If am chance I will do video and talk about fruit shape that emerge as a result of both diva and platinum crossing.

it look like bacteria wilt to me, next time use seed that has tolerance to nematode, bacteria wilt e.t.c to some extent. You treat where you want to transplant to, do you also treat where you raise your seedlings?

Land soak today my brothers and sisters! It will require some level of skills to sell grade 3-4 ASAP today, mine fall into category 3, and I managed to sell 8k and 7.5k. I pity a friend today sad he brought like 60 crate five days ago, like 12 crate was sold 2.5-3k yesterday, and he brought 50 crate (grade 3) today. If am to grow and produce massively at once (50-400 crate) my target place will be Lagos, Benin, Onitsha and port Harcourt. If am growing to sell in Akure market then I'll focus on how I can be bringing tomato to market every two days or everyday.

Mile 12 or Ibadan should be the target selling point.

It wasn’t funny at all today, it was survival of the fittest.
Thankfully I was able to sell at 8k and 8.5k.

Boss a quick one...... I have access to just a plot (100x50) of land. Would it make sense economically speaking if I do just a plot? It will be rain fed though

Pls what's the difference between cobra 26 f1 and cobra 34 f1. Any major difference?
Re: Step By Step Improve Way Of Cultivating TOMATOES by modestypii(m): 2:11pm On Oct 06, 2022
Cobra 34 f1 is just an upgrade on cobra 26 F1. They have same features, just a slight difference in yield.

For those that need drip tape, I still have drip tape available for sale and other irrigation accessories.
