It a problem that your universities have been rioting for ages.
You're not removing money - you're sending it where it most needed.
What does Nigeria need the most - I saw in twitter poll - SECURITY
So if you re-invest that 10B to hire police, equip them with cars, army and all
FIx electricity
It's same thing.
Fuel subsidy is a stupid way to invest public money
Now lack of investment in basic stuff like security is affecting everything including oil production.
obaaderemi:
Don't be stupid. It's not about fuel subsidy riots. It's about the people. Nigeria is a poor country. Removing subsidy abruptly like little India has been forced to do by its owner, imf, will only create more problems. Maybe only Nigeria can afford that in Africa. That's not the problem but the corruption associated with it.

They are most likely confusing taxes with dividend. NNPC owns 49% of NLNG - so Nigeria federal gov cannot receive dividend from it. NNPC receives it - and use it to plug their own holes.

Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by Mkenya2019: 9:48am On Oct 09, 2022
I thought so. That is why your senate ordered investigation to NLNG claim they had paid 18B dollars in dividend. The money never reached federal accounts as it disappeared in NNPC deep holes.

https://www.reuters.com/article/ozabs-uk-nigeria-politics-idAFKBN25O1KZ-OZABS

ABUJA (Reuters) - Nigerian lawmakers have instructed the country’s most senior accountant to investigate payments totalling $18 billion as dividends from Nigeria’s investment in Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) between 2004 and 2019, a Senate statement said.

NLNG is a consortium between state-run Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Eni, Total and Royal Dutch Shell.

An NLNG spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Fuel and Maize subsidy all went....it was a bad idea from get go. They were introduce this year for political reason as desperate Uhuru tried to bribe the public.

As regard IMF - we took 2.5B loan - Nigeria took even bigger one - and it comes with conditionalities.

I am glad we took it earlier than poor Ghana who are now desperate for it.

You think everyone is poor like you er grin

Ghana never needed and as at now, Ghana does not need it because the problem facing Ghana now is Liquidity

Obaboon...oil revenues came to 3.5billion half year according to that site.
Revenues - IFRS - we have seen - 6.5 trillion Naira last year.
All the 36 states - collected 800B naira for H1 - so full year maybe max of 2 trillion.
Let even add Local Authorities to the equation - maybe another trillion
So max is about 9 trillion Naira.
If we use the black market rate - we are talking 12B dollars smiley
If we use the official rate - about 20B dollars.
That is like Kenya -
Despite all that OIL and 200M naira.

Kenya does not collect 20bn in taxes .

Your total tax is 13bn according to your government.

After overtaxing your people by slapping them with all manners of tax you are still at $20bn or less, same as Nigeria where you claim people don't pay taxes. Efforts are being made to widen the tax net, not to overtax like little India, but to bring into the loop sectors and people who have so far being left out. Oil economies usually have low tax to GDP ratio.

Lol, RVP has been lying as usual.

You know is usual modus operandi is to pull fake figure out of thin air.
Kenya only collects 13B in total taxes despite taxing the hell out of the citizen.

Nairobi, 7th July, 2022…For the first time in Kenya’s history, the annual revenue collection has hit and surpassed the Two Trillion mark, defying the difficult economic environment brought about by Covid-19. This is after Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) recorded a monumental revenue collection of KShs. 2.031 Trillion for the Financial Year 2021/2022 (July 2021 – June 2022) compared to KShs. 1.669 Trillion collected in the last financial year (FY 2020/2021).

https://www.kra.go.ke/news-center/press-release/1752-kra-exceeds-revised-target,-records-highest-revenue-growth-in-history

And this is your highest revenue growth, Kenya has never collected more than 13B in revenue before.

Then what purpose of the fuel subsidy. Use that money to fix electricity.

Beside refinery wont help - you will lose forex from crude oil smiley equivalent to what you'll refine - what will help is selling more oil. At this rate with Nigeria oil production going down to 1.3M - Dangote will take half of it - slashing dollar earnings from crude by half.

The CEO of Financial Derivatives Company, Bismarck Rewane, is not as optimistic. He says whatever Nigeria gains in not using dollars to buy refined petrol is almost equivalent to what it will forfeit by giving up 650,000 barrels of crude daily that it can no longer sell and earn dollars from.

Then we would sell it to dangote in dollar, it won't matter cos it will still be the same price we pay for imported refined crude

Mkenya2019:
So Dangote will be buying oil using dollars smiley or Naira. The excitement about refinery saving forex is misplaced. It wont have any impact. You should be more worried about falling oil production. I think so far Angola and Algeria have overtaken you.
The excitement isn't misplaced cos we would save Forex,
Remember NNPC own 20 percent stake in the refinery, also the refinery is more than enough to supply Nigeria the excess will be exported and it will make us more money because refined crude is more valuable than normal crude.

Our oil production is something to worry about, yes for now. Just 2 days ago, NNPC discovered an illegal connection that has been stealing crude for almost 10 years, and more will be discovered in months to come because our government is now serious about it.
Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp2018: 1:50pm On Oct 09, 2022
Where will Dangote get dollars. Focus on improving oil and gas production. Well I dont think you'll consume all the 650,000 barrels so Dangote may be able to sell refined fuel - but Dangote thing is facing a billion dollar shortfall - I dont see that refinery getting off ground in the next 5yrs.

Dangote will get dollars from the things he exports like cement, refined crude Like you said already.

Dangote refinery, though I don't see it completing this year or early next, the problem about money is nothing to worry about, cos the government knows how crucial the refinery is to Nigeria's economy, they will bail him out so im not worried.
Plus other refineries are coming up in the next five years . We will soon star exporting diesel and avaition fuel to Kenya grin
