Uyo Township stadium has been abandon for a very long time, Indoor sport Facilities like Basketball court, Volley ball etc should be sitted within the premises of the Nest of Champions better known as Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, there's enough land available within.

More

More teachers and other workers also employed by Udom since 2015?
Or he is just the typical black man described by Lugard below

sage:
http://www.leadershipnigeria.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=28:the-vague-future-of-nigeria&catid=28:friday-column&Itemid=56

Lord Lugard, the former governor-general of Nigeria, in 1926, wrote his unfiltered thought about Nigerians. From his book, The Dual Mandates, come these excerpts: "In character and temperament, the typical African of this race-type is a happy, thriftless, excitable person, lacking in self-control, discipline, and foresight. Naturally courageous, and naturally courteous and polite, full of personal vanity, with little sense of veracity, fond of music and loving weapons as an oriental loves jewellery. His thoughts are concentrated on the events and feelings of the moment, and he suffers little from the apprehension for the future or grief for the past. His mind is far nearer to the animal world than that of the European or Asiatic, and exhibits something of the animals' placidity and want of desire to rise beyond the state he has reached.

"Through the ages, the African appears to have evolved no organised religious creed, and though some tribes appear to believe in a deity, the religious sense seldom rises above pantheistic animalism and seems more often to take the form of a vague dread of the supernatural. He lacks the power of organisation, and is conspicuously deficient in the management and control alike of men or business. He loves the display of power, but fails to realize its responsibility - he will work hard with a less incentive than most races. He has the courage of the fighting animal, an instinct rather than a moral virtue. In brief, the virtues and defects of his race -type are those of attractive children, whose confidence when it is won is given ungrudgingly as to an older and wiser superior and without envy. Perhaps, the two traits which have impressed me as those most characteristic of the African native are his lack of apprehension and his lack of ability to visualize the future"

Guys lets discuss the thoughts of Lord Lugard. he had  a supremacist view obviously. But is he right in the way he describes Nigerians and Africans in general? How many of the issues that he raises are valid?

Letz get some responses

GOV EMMANUEL FLAGS OFF CONSTRUCTION OF OLYMPIC-SIZED SWIMMING POOL

…Remodeling commences at Uyo Stadium Complex

Fresh from the completion of the new Eket Township Stadium, Governor Udom Emmanuel has flagged off the construction of a first ever Olympic-sized swimming pool in Akwa Ibom state.

The sporting facility geared towards encouraging athletes in the state to excel in swimming exercises, is located at the Uyo Township stadium, currently undergoing remodeling.

The Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Sir Monday Uko, led journalists on a tour of the stadium stated that the directive for the construction of the swimming pool came from Governor Udom Emmanuel who also instructed that the stadium remodeling exercise be completed urgently.

“His Excellency has directed that an Olympic-sized swimming pool be constructed in Uyo Township Stadium and he has also directed that the stadium be completed. We are in the era of his completion agenda and no project is going to be left uncompleted”.

According to Sir Monday Uko, the 13th biennial Police Games will be held in Akwa Ibom State from 20th November, 2022.

“The Nigerian Police Force is having their sports competition in Akwa Ibom State. His Excellency, the Governor has also graciously accepted to host the event.

“It is going to attract over 10,000 police men and about 39 sporting events will be competed for in the state.”

The sports commissioner decried Akwa Ibom athletes' abysmal performances during swimming events at national sporting competitions, but stated that with the construction of the swimming pool, their performance will improve tremendously.

“In the entire state, we do not have an Olympic-sized swimming pool and most of the time, when we go for sports festivals, swimming comes with a lot of medals and Akwa Ibom never had a place where athletes can practice and win these medals.

“The moment this swimming pool is completed, I am very certain our position in the national sports festival will improve tremendously,” said Sir Monday Uko who was flanked by his counterpart from the Ministry of Environment, Sir Charles Udoh.

The construction engineers who hail from Akwa Ibom gave an overview of the specifications of the facilities to be constructed and expressed satisfaction at the level of cooperation and support provided them by the government for the completion of the project.

Engr. Bassey who spoke on behalf of other engineers said, “for a complete construction of a swimming pool, the electrical, structural, and mechanical engineers will be present for the work to be professionally handled.

The accepted standard for an Olympic-sized swimming pool is 50 meters by 25 meters. As engineers, we have come in, every necessary test will be done right from the soil to the concrete to the steel. The design is out and it is going to be wonderful when it is finished.

“Now, we will have to incorporate other areas of recreation and buildings that will help the facility to work very well.

“This directive comes from His Excellency through my boss, and I assure you, it will be delivered as all hands will be on deck.”

As at the time of filing the report, earth moving equipments were seen clearing the site of the project.

With this Akwa ibom will now be the only City in west Africa with 5 standard stadium.. Udom about to build 2 , Akpabio 2 while Attah 1..
.

Victor Attah never built any one, Senator Akpabio built Nest of Champions in Uyo & Ikot Ekpene stadium, Gov. Udom built only Eket Stadium, Uyo Township Stadium has been there since the days of Old Cross River State, Military era, homeground of Ibom Stars football Club now Akwa United before then Gov Attah came in 1999 & it's in a dilapidated State at the moment, it requires complete renovations.

The Olympic-Sized Swimming pool should be built as a component within the Nest of Champions premises with seats &Coverage.

The State needs Human Capital Development, so much hunger in the land, guys with business ideas but no access to ca$h to execute, the Political appointees are not helping the downlines that much, they complain pass you wey no get shishi, i know the commisioner of Youth &Sports is tryna ca$hout on this swimming pool proposal before the end of this administration in 7months time.

We can't start development, by building stadiums....... That would be shut, most of the time...... Except for political rally, religious and sport days .........

We must use wealth, to create more wealth......... If factories are built, the revenues generated, could be channeled to other positive streams.........

You have said it all.
Several thousands of youths in Akwa ibom are dumping the state to other states to survive hunger and hardship.
Do you know that 47 thousand Akwa ibomites applied for a teaching job and the state government picked just 1 thousand.
Where are the other 46 thousand graduates?
