About 6 local government areas in Bayelsa state is currently submerged in water due to the flood water released from various dams in cameroun.

Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA

Yenagoa LGA

Southern Ijaw LGA

Sagbama LGA

Ogbia LGA

Ekeremor LGA

All these LGA's are currently submerged and I can tell you that about 75% of Bayelsa state is currently submerged in water.

Personally, I've lost my fish farm/pond to the flood and I am currently displaced.

Nigeria in collaboration with AU and UN should seriously sanction cameroun for opening their dams without prior notice to Nigeria. This flooding that Nigeria has been subjected to has caused untold hardship, destruction, displacement and loss of livelihood to many Nigerians.

It seems this just happen because I have not heard Diri saying anything about this.

The FG needs to find a way to put an end to this

If not for the OP, I won't know such a thing is happening in Bayelsa State.

The Governor have not said anything about it, it seems the Governor is more concern about the 2023 election

I spoke with my friend today who lives in Yenagoa. I was dumbfounded when he told me about the flood ravaging Bayelsa. I informed him that the rest of Nigeria seems unaware about what is happening in Bayelsa, unlike Anambra and kogi that's in the spotlight. Thank you mosdii for bringing this here to create awareness.

Since Nigerian girls have stopped being useless in your mindset, you have been posting meaningful topics.

The people living here probably lose their credentials and other important credentials.....In a saner clime, sueing the government over damage would be a good and welcome development....

But you dare not try it here....Thugs with fried brain will collect money and begin to intimidate you and your family members..

Imagine some mentally deficient patients, who opened a series of threads on Nairaland blaming Peter Obii for flooding in Anambra State.

ASUU should just suspend the strike and let Schools resume. The class of people in Nairaland is mixed up in such a way that intellectual debates become impossible.

If we ever have a war with Cameroon, they will open up their dams and flood our country.

Thiefnubuu urchins blammed Peter Obi when the flood reached Anambra forgetting that it came from kogi to Anambra and heading south. It has now reached Rivers and Bayelsa. I don't know how Peter Obi could have prevented the Niger from rising when a dam is opened in Cameroon

If they give notice what will the Nigerian government do…?

This same flooding issue has been happening for years now what proactive steps has the Nigerian government taken over the years?
Be blaming Cameroon there…

The dam in Cameroon was built in the 60's and the government of Cameroon advised Nigeria government to build it own dam giving it reasons.

Didn't we learn anything from 2012 flooding?
If we didn't here are some lessons
1. Food scarcity (which lead to increased in food prices)
2. Cholera pandemic in most Southern state
3. Loss of livelihood
4. Death toll also increased from 50 to over 500
5. All the ecological funds has all been looted.
6. Government saying citizens to relocate, relocate to where?

It obvious we don't learn from history.

The business minded amongst us, should see opportunities in this current problems.
