Former Commissioner for Information in Edo state, Prince Kassim Afegbua on Wednesday said presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu shares the same qualities with former Military President, Ibrahim Babangida in scouting for the best brains to work with.

Speaking in an interview with DAILY INDEPENDENT, Afegbua, a member of the Media and Communication Directorate of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council said none of the presidential candidates contesting in the 2023 general elections can match Tinubu's democratic credentials and leadership ability.

He said "Tinubu can be cast in the same mould as an IBB in terms of recruitment of solid brains to deliver on political responsibilities. If you look around Tinubu, you will see brilliant Nigerians with sound minds; none you can fault in terms of intellect and understanding of the delicate issues in the country in different aspects such as economy, security, communications etc".

"Tinubu is one Nigerian who has friends in every local governments of this country. That means when Tinubu speaks, Nigerians will listen. He is also one Nigerian who knows the country so well and is quite abreast with Nigeria's cultural and historical developments".

Speaking further, Afegbua also berated Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as one who hobnobbed with the military during the June 12 pro-democracy struggles while the likes of Tinubu sacrificed everything to ensure democracy is entrenched in the country till now.

" He (Tinubu) is the only one among those who are contesting today who was a pro-democracy activist. He fought for the enthronement of this democracy that we are enjoying today".

"People like Atiku were in bed with late General Sani Abacha, to the point that Atiku couldn't even go to prison to go and visit Shehu Musa Yar'Adua because he was afraid he will be picked up by Abacha. That was one of the regrets before he died. He regretted the fact that Atiku didn't come to visit him throughout his time in prison".

"Yet, these are the same people who are gallivanting all over the place claiming to be democrats who have class and character. After that Atiku became a beneficiary in 1999 when he was made VP despite not contributing anything to the return of democratic governance to the country".
