I finally had my passport request letter yesterday. I submitted my application on 19 June. I applied using the new portal. Since the portal only requested for a copy of my passport, I didn't attach any other supporting documentation (because I have a valid US visa).
No bank statements
No employment reference letter
No payslips
No LOE
No nothing.
I saw someone here on Nairaland with the same experience and that's why I also confidently submitted.

Good morning. I posted this information to tell those awiating their decision not to be discouraged or get tired because there is light at the end of the tunnel.

i am a frequent traveler to Canada`. My last visa expired during the Covid-19 period. I submitted application for renewal on December 2021 and i received my PPR October 2022. It's a visitor visa. Normally renewal dont take more than 21 days but this one took longer time to drop. i requested for my GCSM notes twice and many web mails.

Those awaiting response should not get tired, get discourage and be persevere. I think their priority now are the Ukranians, Study permit and Work permit.

nevetheless, we should not stop sending them a reminder web mail. All will end in praise.

Submitted using the old portal as I didn’t even realize there was a new one, had already submitted before I stumbled on that info……So I guess both the old and new portal still works but just depends on individual case. This is like 3 months timeline from application to ppr request.

Your host will also need to present his/her Canadian bank statement to show they have the financial capability to host you for the planned duration of stay. However, you can plan to travel with some funds just to show you have some means of livelihood. There is a section on the application portal while you are filling the form where you will indicate the amount you will be travelling with. But make sure you show strong home ties in your application.

Request for Additional Document: September 12, IRCC requested for another biometric fee, I sent an email with previous refusal letter to show I had done it in the past.

I'm here to debunk the largely spread BS about old and new link. There's no such fastness that comes with the new link.

Applied with the old link and completed every process including biometrics on April 7th, request for passport came 2 days ago - 18th Oct.

Whereas, someone I know had withdrawn her old link application and applied with a new one but still awaiting a feedback till date. I was advised and really tempted to withdraw the old and reapply, wasting another 85k. Thank God I didn't.

So, whether you used an old link or new, it really doesn't change nothing. You don't have to go withdrawing the old one for a new one, rather keep sending reminder mails to Nairobi (more effective, I guess). Use web forms too.

This I know for the Visit Visa category, I'm not sure if same applies to other categories.

Passport submission process (PPR) for Canada Visa

Once you receive notification from the Government of Canada requesting your passport, you can submit the passport and the request letter:• In person (without appointment, just walk in ) you are visit the application Centre between 08:00 am and 10:00 am, Mon-Fri.Please include the following Document when visiting the Vac In person:
1. International Passport (per applicant)
2. A dully Filled and printed copy of Vfs consent form (2 copies) (attached) -https://assets.ctfassets.net/xxg4p8gt3sg6/2G0GtF7WPLvzToKOfompkv/c03d754f3eaf210cf115e35a9bfd096b/VFS-ConsentForm.pdf
3. Passport request letter from the IRCC
4. 2 copies of passport data page (phone number and email address written on it (per applicant)
5. *Collection print out slip given after biometrics (per applicant)
6. Proof of payment for Package Transmission fee per applicant (9410 + 1000 sms fee optional) or Personal Debit Card ATM to pay at the vac. You don't need to pay 9410 if you have your slip from your biometric registration from the same location.

My visitor visa application is a renewal hence I still have a valid biometric.
I applied for visa on the 30th of April 2022 and I got a BVL notification on the 17th October, 2022 but up till now , no request for passport.


Below is what i have on my portal.
Under the Review of eligibility, i have " We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements"
Under the Background check, i have " We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information and
Under the Final decision, i have " Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made".

This is the status since Oct 17.

Does anyone know if Canada would put a visa on a passport with less than 6 months validity?

Finally PPR in visitors visa for my parents.

We applied since January because we wanted them to accompany us as we make the final move to Canada, however clearly that came and passed and we have been here a few months now. Thankfully they will be able to join us for Christmas and more.
