Tokskob2008: Something is fishy with your sentimental comment right? If you have an employee and you send your employee to get a bus to come carry your work equipments, and he rants and says it's too much labor and begin to throw violent weird tantrums and physicality. Retain such an employee. Smh 1 Like |

As far as I'm concerned, this matter no concern me... But somehow I feel as if the OP is speaking the truth. Some employers in this country are straight up evil... And you can see the way that the accused is desperately trying to save his face that what that OP is saying is true. For those asking the OP of proof should remember that Jobs are scarce and if an employer in this country has vacancy for a good job , he definitely wouldn't need to advertise it because people will definitely search him out (from referrals, link ups etc) So the mere fact that he's advertising such a lucrative job gives me "cause of worry". I know things are hard in the country currently and unemployment is high but don't let desperation make you enter a job you'll regret. 18 Likes 1 Share |

On page 1, did I just read they resumed by 9 due to compensation on "35 MINUTES STROLLING "to the farm That's wickedness, to trek in bush for 35minutes is strolling? even if you bought a bike later, why will you use such term and who do you think you want to confuse? With only the above I feel the op might be a bit right, seems someone is trying to sugar coat sufferings. 22 Likes 2 Shares |

checkmatez: Before you go about with your nonsense, when people get employed, do they get theirselves to work themselves or get carried to work ? Sensationalist Educated people some times have fractured minds and that's why they remain stuck in poverty in life. So, taking a walk from ones house to one's place of business activity is suffering? Can you prove that the walk path is a bush and not otherwise? Thankfully, I've gotten a bike now. Thankfully, I won't be ever working with anyone on the forum again and will begin to prepare to exit the remaining ones I currently have atleast 15 employed people working with me earning between 40,000 and 75,000 Naira per month. Please be an employer of labor first then come back and criticize me like an employer not an illusionist with utopian imageries of what life ought to look like I have tons of Benue, Taraba, Cotonou, Togo youths willing to do the work at quarter the pay i intend paying. I will keep my profits and employ people who's heads are on their necks. 6 Likes |

I have read just about 30% of this thread as it's piling up fast but I think I have a slight idea of what is going on. Farming is not so profitable as a business to afford high salaries and to keep business afloat farmers utilize numerous expense cutting measures. An inevitable and expensive part of this business is farm labour. Years past, farm labour was cheap to obtain especially from rural areas but the advent of okada and more rural-urban migration has caused scarcity and a rapid increase in cost of farm labour and lots of 'yanga' from villagers. To cut costs, I believe @Iamblessed12 strategized online recruitment and placing workers on a monthly pay instead of daily pay for his farm in a deep rural area. What I think is this, livestock and cereal production today is getting unfavorable for small scale farmers as more commercial farms are taking a bulk of the market and giving unfair competition. To make it work, you may have to move your farm closer to an urban area, probably scale down a bit so you require less labour or if you have money, employ more mechanization. Otherwise, just turn your farm into a tree crop farm that won't require so much labor if you intend staying back in the village. Those village boys eyes don open and they will rip you of all your profit. 6 Likes |

Phewwww! What a thread, really worth my time. I hope all parties involved have learnt their lessons, choose to move on and improve for the sake of their organisation. Btw, any organisation no matter how small it is should always consider their staff or worker a part of their organisation and treat them nicely. While the staff or worker of an organisation should resign or make known to the Management if they are being treated unfairly to avoid such threat and exchange of unruly words. I however wouldn't support making a legal procession out of this as it might greatly affect more the employer because there's no how you won't be found guilty of one these allegations and which I'm sure the faceless employee will never show up again, he has nothing to loose unlike you. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Let me explain small; You will have to wake-up early and prepare your food, then walk to the farm(45mins walk) and start by 8am till 5pm with an hour break. The salary is 40k. The guy use to employ new workers like every month cos it difficult to last there for 3months straight. There are places you may go b4 you can get network. The place is inside the forest which cuts you away from the outside world. You can only use your salary to treat urself if you are sick. There is food shortage most times. No beds to sleep. most workers sleep on mats. Last and most importantly, WATCH YOUR NYASH IN THE NIGHT TO AVOID STORIES THAT TOUCH. Legend have it that homoo is a thing there between workers. ADVANTAGE. He never miss to pay on the agreed date. And there is nothing to spend money on there, so your money is always intact. 7 Likes 1 Share |

I tried to read the comments of both parties. What I can deduce is that both parties are not happy with themselves. That's the world we now live in. A world where life is not fair to any. @ IamBlessed12 I know it is not an easy thing to be an employer. To even go into farming, I must say you are a courageous person. You may however be wrong in some ways and some of the accusations may be right. I am not saying the accuser is right here. My little advise 1. Try to work on those areas you are accused of instead of defending yourself. 2. Provide better living conditions for your workers especially a good place to rest and sleep. 3. Always remember to do unto others what you want others to do unto you. Inorder words, treat your workers well, whether they are educated or not and irrespective of their tribes. 4. Ask workers to give you feedbacks and from time to time, enquiry about their welfare. 5. Don't have the mindset that you are doing people a favour and they only come to work for you because they have no choice. Don't be like the Chinese, Labanese and the Indians. We will eventually leave all these things behind and will give account of what we did with the opportunities God gave us. @ Fulanbanza I can understand you are not happy with the way things went. It is good you spoke about it. Whether you're speaking for yourself or a friend, know that this is the situation of things in this country. The economy is harsh to everyone which makes many employers look like the devil. Someday, you might be in the position of the employer and you may begin to see things for yourself. You see a lot of challenges that would want to discourage you. Things are really not perfect. My little advise to you. 1. In situations like this, try not to spoil people's businesses by rubbishing. 2. Have a one on one talk with the employer. 3. Make findings before accepting offers 4. As you work with anyone, constantly advice on way forward and better welfare. Let there be peace. God bless 5 Likes 1 Share |

IamBlessed12:I feel compelled to comment on this post.. And I observed something.. Which is if the indegenes refuse to do the job, then they have a valid reason not to And I don't think anyone will see a job that pays irrespective of how hard it is n decline. If they do..it means they are not being treated nicely Hence the need for u to try and employ sm1 out of ur state.. Even in the town where u live... you could easily get workers to work on the farm for u.. But u choose to want people outside ur state.. Anyways here is my advise. If truly u r not being nice to your workers...please change n the idea of employing abokis....e good ooo.... they are hard workers and the danger is they could be ur doom.. If u know what I mean...those guys go just overpower u n kill u. Shikena.. 2 Likes 1 Share |
