TheLoneCitizen: She said she cried because she was disappointed in herself and I agree. This is probably the first time that she has missed a penalty in her young career. Don't forget she is the team's dead ball specialist so she already has that confidence. Plus she had a great game before that. She was the one who sent Onyeka packing to the left flank and she also made a key clearance of the line. There is more pressure when u are playing for glory. If it is about money there are other ways to make it so no big deal but glory can't be bought in the market and it has an expiration date. Our girls are also playing for Glory. U don't fight that hard for something as basic as money. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Raphael Onyedika. My God! What a solid Performance at the heart of Brugge's Midfield against one of the very sound sides in the league. A Top 4 battle. So comfortable with the ball at his feet. So calm yet very solid in physical duels. Beautiful Passing range. 4 Likes 3 Shares |

BascoVanVeli: The amount of players who have made it to the big time backed by motivation from their impoverished past is overwhelming. I cannot think of a great African player who didn't come from a poor background. Yaya Toure ate one meal a day. Was an apprentice to a shoe-shiner. Didier Drogba parents lost their jobs and relied on a brother for food. Couldn't pay his school fees. Drogba forced to leave for France, twice. Eto'o lived in France as an illegal migrant for large majorities. Ask Haaland why he plays football with so much passion, brother will give one trivial reason like beating his father's record. Ask Osimhen why he plays football with so much passion, he will tell you how he sold pure water with his mom in Lagos traffic. 1 Like |

Iwobi's assist yesterday was so satisfying. What pleased me the most was the intelligence he showed in quickly running into the space behind the CP defence and beating offside. The back heel was sumptuous, a rare delight that only tantalizes our imagination as to what would have been if we had qualified for the WC. 13 Likes |

TheLoneCitizen: You assume like many here that it's only players that come from deprivation in Africa. That have the resilience and determination to succeed and over come all the odds. For starters go and check Lukaku story , it's incredible his rise to becoming one of the best strikers in the World. Essentially he has been top of his game since age 16 when he started playing for Anderlecht first team. There is poverty in Europe as well , so consider things in context. In my opinion physical damage and struggle are not as significant as psychological damage that impacts on your sense of identity, self esteem, aspiration and convictions. The damage that institutional racism, discrimination, exclusion, unconscious bias, race motivated abuse, negative race based denigration, etc, etc . These present and continuous , behaviours are ingrained but are strongly held by the decision makers and owners of football clubs in Europe. Eberechi was released and rejected by over 10 clubs, before my friend Chris Ramsey ( he is black) brought him to QPR after being released by Millwall. Shockingly within 6 month's he was in the first team There are many more similar stories were black players are disproportionately affected by negative decision that are anchored on racial discrimination. 2 Likes |
