Not quite £200K, it is £115K but it is not automatically paid to them.

Past PMs can claim for it but they have to provide receipts etc.

I don't expect her to claim for the allowance based on the scrutiny she will face if she attempted to do that but I enjoy the banter around the subject matter.

The number of institutions selling their stakes and the % of holdings being sold in some of the banks goes beyond mere portfolio rebalancing.

I can't find the September 2022 FPI report, if anyone has got it, please share. The last available one is August 2022.

Cheers

US dollar crash drawing near. American empire gradually disappearing.

Even if USD cease to be d go to currency of exchange, the American Empire will still stand for a very long time. Except in d event of nuclear war but then everyone will be affected.

Do you know why?

Beside its strong sense of unity and patriotism, you should consider technical know-how, institutions and knowledge base which so far is second to none.

Check d top 10 in almost everything that hold financial advantages, USA takes at least 7 spaces out of 10.

1. Ten richest persons in d world
2. Ten bigest companies in d world
3. Ten best Universities in d world
Etc

Then... d vast resources:
1. Largest producer of crude oil
2. Largest producer of natural gas

Tech:
All sophisticated chips on any device can trace back to d USA. That one alone is huge giving dat d world runs on computational devices.

Some times it takes the smallest thing, or one foolish act for all that to disappear.
Maybe the threat of a nuclear war itself.or an epidemic. Who knew about covid before it came

What i am trying to say is dat they are leading or close to leading on somany fronts, you did need to eliminate alot of highly knowledgable people, wipe years of accumulated data to bring d USA down. Not very easy.

Or colonize them. grin

A small worm from nowhere can ruin the beautiful plant. Babylon was impregnable and invincible until God used Cyrus to dry it's protective river Euphrates and trampled Babylon. The fall of the American empire might be impossible from human standpoint but it will certainly occur because it will be of God's making, so as to usher in God's Kingdom. Daniel 2 vs 44. I believe the descent will soon commence.

So what's your conclusion or your thoughts?

Moat breached?
Moat intact?
Moat under significant threat?

I personally think they are in a bad run of form due to certain conscious decisions they've made... I expect them to hit their usual stride in a year or two...
This is a personal opinion and not investment advice...

I think Moat breached if we go by d books minimum 10% growth rate. I will need to compare with other banks in d same space.

Concluding part...

The main point is that GTCo seem to have consciously limited the amount of loans they offer which has limited their net interest income and eventually, their profits...

They presently have the highest NPL amongst the FUGAZ (6.1% if my memory serves me well) which might explain why they are trying to clean their books first before resuming loan issuance at usual rates...

As I said, I might be wrong. I'm just sharing my thoughts after looking at their books...

I hope this helps ..

Great insights boss, as usual. Let me add some color.

For the NPL, they simply are more aggressive in pushing loans to [IFRS] stage 2. When macro changes or they sense issues with the creditors, they preemptively take some charges and push the loans to NPL, far faster than their peers.

As for the loans, Agbaje has repeatedly stressed in the earnings call that the interest rate was being artificially suppressed by the CBN, and has been positioning for a while for a rise in rates to match with the underlying macro realities. He allowed lots of loans to be paid back in full without redeploying them and noted he doesn't want to even think about competing in reducing loan rates to the highest [credit] quality firms.

Exactly...
I agree with you 100%... I've listened to all their calls in the last 2 years and it's very plain to see what's going on...

Between 2017 and 2021 (5 years), the following are the rate of growth in deposits and loans by FUGAZ save first bank.

Zenith Bank
Deposit growth 88%
Loan growth 57%

Access bank
Deposit growth 210%
Loan growth 110%

Uba
Deposit growth 130%
Loan growth 62%

GTCo
Deposit growth 100%
Loan growth 28%

For contrast, compare the same numbers for GTCo over the preceding 5 years (2013 to 2017)

GTco
Deposit growth 42%
Loan growth 40%
