Wapgod:May God bless you so much. The economy is in comatose and here they are thinking of a cosmetic dressing to a non performing currency. I don't understand. Should that be our priority right now? And they will waste money on nonsense. Are those responsible for this in CBN mad or something? |

Instead of making the economy to be good and better... create jobs for the youths and nigerians, reduce poverty hunger hardship unemployment, provide constant electricity light, make environment condusive for bussinesses to strive, construct roads and provide good goverance..this is what nigerians needs not to redesign naira... that the politcians are looting and stealing and the poor man has no access to the money... clueless government |

Kasssandra: Bros anywhere in the world, the CBN takes tactical moves to shore up the economy. This CBN Governor is completely useless. Even if Government policy is rubbish, you can still feel the effect of CBN monetary policies as we saw when the BoE acted to shore up sterling against the misguided efforts of the UK PM and Chancellor. Bank MD's are having to kiss his feet to get allocations. An allocation of $1m at 435 sold on the black market for 730 is a prince's ransom. |

Wapgod: Is this what Nigeria needs right now? Good question. Ibo man is the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria. Don't you ever forget that. When I say Ibo man has no sense, I get accused of being hateful. Now that the fact is in, I don't want anyone to be accused of being hateful. Now, Nigeria doesn't need redesign of currency. What Nigeria needs Now is mandate to every government run agency to use policy for operation of government functions. By policy I mean what people working for government should do and should not do. For an example, governors in Nigeria take money out of state treasury and spend any way they want. Governor wike of rivers state had been boasting about how he funded PDP with government money. That is why governments is failing in Nigeria. CBN has a governor from south east and that means failure . Southeast is a disaster. People in southeast have left that region because nothing has succeeded there. So, having a CBN governor from southeast really called into questions the kind of leadership running government in Nigeria |

TriitNG:"We are not only talking about small arms," the president stressed. "Risks remain that more powerful weapons may fall into the hands of criminals, including portable anti-aircraft missile systems and high-precision weapons," Putin specified. Buhari Blames Libyan Conflict For Insecurity In Nigeria. Arms trafficking from Libya to Niger is back; Nigeria, others should be concerned "After the fall of Libyan president Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, southward arms flows from Libya rose significantly. In 2012, this enabled Mali’s Tuareg rebels and armed groups operating in the Sahel and Lake Chad Basin to acquire weapons and ammunition in a period of widespread regional turmoil." https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/545433-arms-trafficking-from-libya-to-niger-is-back-nigeria-others-should-be-concerned.html The West armed the rebels and instigated a conflict in Libya. Libya is now a retrogressed failed state. The influx of arms into Nigeria as a result of the West arming rebels has lead to more insecurity and insurgency in Nigeria. Those lethal weapons are now being used to terrorize innocent Nigerians. The West was defeated in Afghanistan by rebels last year. The weapons they were forced to leave behind (as a result of their defeat) has found it's way to the black market. |

BreconHills: Well, we have a bad naira because we are not earning enough dollars in the first place...which happens because APC , despite promising a diversified economy, has not done it. So, since the CBN has a limited toolset and resources as a result of the above, there is nothing much they can do. Anyone who gets elected in 2023, has to make Nigeria a producer nation, then we can have a strong currency. 1 Like |

Totally unnecessary. If it causes people who n stach monies in hidden places to bring out money. It would increase the money in circulation. What we need to do right now is not currently design but expansionary fiscal policy aimed at reducing our import bill against other currencies by production thru local human and capital development. When we are stable then we can visit this redesign. This redesign coming on the heels of regime change is suspicious. |
