First rule is for you all to wear comfortable clothings. Its not about being fashionable cos the journey from Lagos or Abuja to Canada is a long one. Additionally, I would recommend sweaters or hoodies cos the airplane may be very cold. Have change of cloths and underwear which may come in handy incase of any accidents especially for younger kids. Plenty baby wipes is always a good idea. Then take items the kids are familiar with, Tablets, teddybear etc...

So for those who are Catholics and want to enrol their kids in Catholic schools...

You should have the Child's baptismal certificate and also the Parent's baptismal certificate..

It's one of the requirements to enrol your kids in Catholic schools..

Yes, but you don't necessarily need both, one can do either the parent or the child.

Hello,
Pls I would appreciate your contribution on this:

For a mama traveling alone with an Infant, and has 16hours layover in Toronto before flying to her final destination, will you suggest I get an hotel near the Airport or Stay inside the Airport for the whole 16hours!.
Or is there any other option available.

Thank you.

16 hours is a long layover with an infant. Get a flight with a shorter layover time like 4 or 5 hours maximum

You will find this quite discomforting, as you would have already gone through immigration you might be able to get a hotel, but practically speaking you might not get value for the hotel but better than trying to sit around for 16 hours

I am expecting my PPR soonest by the grace of God.

Going to Saskatchewan with two of my kids.

If you are going to Saskatchewan and plan to enrol your kids above age 5 in school, you will need to contact Newcomers Centre. They will be the one to link you with a nearby school where your child can be enrolled.

The school form will be sent to you via email to fill after which your child will be in their waitlist. Application process for the kids will be concluded when you get to Canada.

I don't know how parents cope yet cos I'm not yet in Canada but decided to share above info just in case it's useful to someone.

I pray we all settle in to the system in Canada at the earliest time possible.

Thank you

Kindly,is this a good province/state to move to?my interest is low cost of living and low cost of school.thanks

Getting a hotel sounds perfect...less stressful than staying in the airport for 16 hours...you already landed in Canada..just get a hotel and vacation till your flight is ready..lol..

When travelling with kids, what should parents hold as hand luggage that might be needed?

Considering change in time and weather, do children adapt easily?

What should parents that just landed in Canada do or be on the look out for?

Hello All
My wife is currently in Regina SK with our almost 6yr old daughter. It has not really been an easy ride for wifey with respect to getting a job cos of our daughter. Most of the daycares she applied to have long waiting lists. Anyway my daughter resumes school next week. We decided to enroll her in a French immersion school instead of an only English speaking school. Hopefully wife gets a job soon cos this exchange rate isnt easy at all.

Yes it is. Sorry for the late response

Saskatchewan is a good province and easy to settle in as a new comer. Accomodation and some other things are not as expensive as it is in other province like Ontario

Hi all,

Anyone understand the process or how seamless or difficult it is to order a Nigerian passport for a new born in Canada that definitely has no NIN. The Canadian passport ordering was seamless I really hope our Country doesnt show me unnecessary pepper.

You can get your NIN in many major cities in Canada

Children adapt easily to cold, but you must invest in quality cold-resistant clothing. This is because part of the daily routine in school is for kids to play in the snow (during winter).

Hello,
We applied for my baby’s passport in April (received it in Aug) and she doesn’t have NIN. We weren’t asked for it either
