My phone was stolen and my account was emptied. It was stolen at a public arena.

I went to the police and they told me to drop 50k before I could file the complaint. I negotiated down to 20. Then I went to the bank to get my statement of account, but people were too much. Will be going tomorrow again.

Is there anyone who knows the mechanism via which my money was taken from my account?

Because there is no way the thief had access to my ATM card which will then ask for otp.

Please is anyone in the house knowledgeable about this issue or how I could track the phone?

Please I need assistance on methods to go about this.

If your Gmail was active on the stolen phone, you could get the phone's last location using the find my device feature and you can also erase the phone data that way. http://google.com/android/find

You can also use the police, they have a unit dedicated to tracking of stolen properties. You just have to provide your phone IMEI number.

For the cash transfer, I think your sim was inserted into another phone, the thief accessed your SMS to get your bank name and account balance. The bank USSD was used to check your BVN which is the only info needed to move your money.

They need to sell of these refineries. These TAM is not working.

the TAM never worked in the past because it was not intended to. it was an avenue for continuos rounds of chopping

they were awarding TAM to Emeka offors chrome oil

this Admin have awarded this TAM to a company with an actual track record, which may be why it costs as much as it does.

my initial thoughts were that it was just another chop chop for the boys

that is the website of tecnimont, the company doing the TAM

most projects fail in nigeria because people are greedy and shortsighted and will rather award first and foremost to mushroom firms with zero capacity with >50% kickback, rather than proven firms for 10% kickback

Yes, I had the find my device app installed but my location is always off. so it showed me my house as the place the phone was last seen.

As for the IMEI, can the phone be tracked with it even if the thief switched it off?

Sorry bro, your phone is gone. My Home was burgled last year when I visited the Country. I did all I could to track it. Even paid Police Officer 20k for tracking.

Contact a Brother working with DSS, yet they couldn't find it. They told me they've replaced the Keypad Chip, thus IMEI code has been distorted.

Nobody steals a phone to leave it switched off forever, they just remove your sim and continue using the phone.

Whenever a call is made through the phone, the IMEI number, the location, and the sim details get sent to the network provider. This is how law enforcement authorities track a person’s lost mobile phone.

Wait, boys could do that??
Anyways the police are telling me it's sort of a good thing that they transferred money, that that leaves a trail, so I'm following that angle assiduously.
I wanted to know If there were tech guys here that could help in anyway with tracking it.

Thanks for this info, my fingers are crossed. Hopefully either the money trail or the IMEI turns something up. I've been soo down since yesterday.

I was robbed of 2 Samsung Phones within a Month. One in Osun (A71) one in Lagos (S8). Trust me.... both are gone forever!

Except the Policeman is fooling you, their Tracker is faulty. Police can no longer track stolen phones.

Is not as if they have a tracker themselves, they just blacklist your IMEI number and then send a signal to all the network providers to watch out for any call or data transfer from that phone.

The stress and money you will spend is not even worth it.

also advice to everyone, dont keep any nudes on your device. if your phone is stolen or given to someone to repair, those pictures WILL find their way to a leak site. what happens from there is anyone's guess. the pictures can get buried under the frequent uploads, or something will make the video go viral.

the most important thing is not the value of the phone, but the information on it and how easily that information can be stolen or repurposed.
password your device, encrypt it, put your critical apps behind passwords , enable as much 2fa as you can, and set your device for remote wipe.

Musk terminated Twitter Chief Executive Parag Agrawal, Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal and legal affairs and policy chief Vijaya Gadde, according to people familiar with the matter. He had accused them of misleading him and Twitter investors over the number of fake accounts on the social media platform.

Agrawal and Segal were in Twitter's San Francisco headquarters when the deal closed and were escorted out, the sources added

I am not sure who he involved including during the process of Twitter acquisition but the embolden just proved that while he may be smart in other aspects of life, he is horrible and far behind in business negotiations.

What did he expect Twitter and it's executives to say? Tell him there were no fake accounts? Did he expect them to present an accurate representation of the fake accounts? Those guys alongside Dorsey have made their bar and are content leaving Twitter, they knew it was coming.

I won't be shocked if they joined Dorsey at Square. Musk is mad that he got played...

musk is going to transform twitter massively.. he already said he'd implement a payment system just like that of WeChat

And overall, I hope he integrates crypto/Bitcoin because he himself is a cryptocurrency investor and lover

Nigeria gets $244m from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) for emergency food production to soften the devastating effects nationwide flood is having on food supply. This was disclosed by AfDB President, Dr Akinwunmi Adesina.

This is why u should always password ur sim card. Since I watched video of a guy confessing how they steal people's phones, insert the sim into another phone and access the BVN to transfer money from bank accounts linked to the sim; I went back to the old school way of having SIM lock on my phone. That way , the moment the thief cannot provide ur correct sim pin, the sim will be useless and only ur phone will be lost.

For example, my iphone will not unlock unless you steal my face along with the phone. Now while the thief is frustrated with the phone, more shock awaits him cos my sim will never give him way of passage except he knows my sim lock pin.

I think u goofed by not blocking the sim the moment u discovered the phone was missing. That was what I did when my phone and laptop were carried through the window sometimes in the past.

As for the police officers, if u really want to get back ur stuff u will have no choice but to grease their palms. Those guys can actually help u nab the thieves. Someone I know had similar experience and he got his money back(Tho he had to part with certain percentage as fee for service)

Wike must be delusional if he actually thinks he can be the president of this country called Nigeria in the nearest possible future .

The man called Wike don too shiiiit for church Abeg. This is a man that has constantly called the bluff of the northern oligarchy ; he’s called them out on a number of issues especially their hypocrisy on the sharia police destroying bottles of beer while they still partake in the VAT realized from sales of alcohol in other secular states .

Now I’m not saying Wike calling them out is wrong , but I doubt these same people would allow Wike be president of a country that includes the northern elites and their serfs who listen to the elite like they are listening to God .

The same way u see the top 3 candidates now marching to arewa house to defend their “2023 thesis “ is the same way ur man Wike will be summoned and he will be asked questions as to what he has in stock for the “arewa” . I wonder if Wike will remain his brash self while answering those queries .

This here.

When wike was shouting rivers is a christian state, he was not looking ahead.

A presidential campaign can easily be tanked by your past utterances and associations. Ambitious politicians have to take the long view

Which is why all that why did you not criticize Buhari noise is naivete. It plays well to the gallery in the short run. Two examples - SLS and shehu Sanni. Both were overly outspoken, and both ultimately lost out on positions where they could have actually wielded influence to initiate change.
