It made news by not making news. The horn of Africa drought crisis has received international coverage. The daily killings in middle belt of Nigeria cant make even to Nigeria headline despite the numbers involved...100 dead...130 dead..70 dead..in one attack. As far as I know our drought has not killed folks - that is why it's not a famine. Once it kills people it become famine.
obaaderemi:
If it doesn't make the news then how did you hear about it in Kenya? You always talk like an idiot.

Millions are starving in your country in one of the worst human affliction cases in human history, and it feels normal to you little Indians. Nobody Even wants to talk about it. Year in year out, you take it in your stride and blame poor rainfall and tradition as if hunger knows tradition.

Finally the Ghana president admit they have a problem.
Ghana undergoing worst economic crisis - president
The Ghana cedi has depreciated by over 50% this year and is listed as the world’s worst-performing currency against the US dollar.
In Summary
• The president said in a televised address to the nation on Sunday: "We are in crisis. I do not exaggerate when I say so.
• I cannot find an example in history when so many malevolent forces have come together at the same time.

I guess you didn't get where this whole rice argument came from hence struggling to get a grip of what is all about and the nonsensical patriotism in you had to come in to defend nonsense. kiss

What is the daily minimum wage in ghana? =12:53.
Now, you need at least 5 cedis to eat rice with no fish, egg, chicken or meat cos a cup of cooked rice in Accra starts from 5 cedis so if the average Ghanaian should eat only rice with no egg,or meat 3 times daily, it means they'll need 15 cedis which is way above the daily minimum wage in ghana.
So based on the facts above, your Average Ghanaian spends more on food than he earns.
Going by these analysis, Ghanaians are evidently hungrier now than 7 months ago.
Another dimension to the analysis is, the 37 percent inflation rate your govt released is false and misleading.
I cited the example of 5kg rice going for 40 cedis 6 months ago and now, doing double, that figure.

You are talking about patriotism?
You left all the multifaceted problems facing your country to lie about Ghana and you think we should assume it's normal?
Even if things are too expensive in Ghana is it your country? oga face your front

If you want to critize Ghana do it constructively (full of facts) and stop the persistent lies you keep spewing about Ghana

Your hunger doesn't even make the news anymore. I didn't even know there was still starvation in Kenya this year until zakizaki started talking about it here. Pathetic.

Drought is natural disaster affecting many people in many countries including Nigeria. The difference in Kenya - herders dont drive south and kill people. They wait for gov to provide them food and water. If they try - the security forces will teach them a lesson. So they wait it out - watch their cows, camels and goat die - but cannot drive south & kill farmers.

That is big difference. Your Zoo has allowed Fulani and other folks battling drought to drive all the way from Mali/Chad/Niger to kill Nigerians almost for sport.

That is not Islamic militarism - that is land expansion in modern era. That is Zoo - total lack of security. It's like whoever has gun - just drive his cows - graze over farmers crops - and shot them for sport.

Drought is natural disaster but it's not limited to Africa. How come they don't starve elsewhere like in Kenya and the other shithole countries around it?

The problem with herders is present in Kenya too but how many herders do you have? Apart from that, there's an element of Islamic terrorism in the herders' crisis we have here. We've always had herders but not this kind of problem at this level.

How can people be starving to death year in year out and your people have absolutely nothing to do about it? The international media has even shunned you. Nobody takes your starvation seriously anymore.

1) Nobody is starving to death. Not at least in kenya.
2) This drought is biggest in forth years - it has not rained in four years - animals have died including many wild animals - no human has died in kenya. Kenya is large semi-arid and therefore susceptible to drought. That is just geographical happenstance.
3) Somali & Ogaden/Oromo in Ethiopia & Northern Kenya is Islamic - there is nothing unique about Fulani & Nigeria muslims. Except Nigeria gov complicity and inability to deal with Islam. How can they when 10 states already on Sharia law.
4) People affected by drought in Kenya - live in semi-arid & arid parts - they dont grow crops - they have cows, camels & goats. Even if it rain daily - they can never grow crop - because it's sandy rocky - there is no soil to support plants - except in few areas.
5) They live in large expansive areas - boreholes drie up - dams drie up - when rain stop for four years - everything dries up.
6) There is nothing kenya gov can do except send these people money & sometimes food aid. This kenya does. That is why nobody has died. There is drought authority - that send them mobile money almost every year - whenever rainfall fails.
7) Kenya has international and local media that covers even the death of a chicken....leave alone the daily slaughter of Nigerian farmers by Fulani herdersmen.

The big elephant in the room is that Kenyans are starving. The bigger elephant is that it is a perennial thing with no end in sight.

If sending relief material is the only thing that can be done to help in your own warped opinion, then someone is definitely not doing their job. Your people are still starving.

For how long will you continue blaming the weather?
It's gotten so bad nobody even takes you people seriously anymore. Three years ago when something similar happened, we took you seriously but now even when the drought is bigger according to you, it is barely reported in international media. Ours is just a case of herdsmen trouble laced with Islamic terrorism. It is very hard to combat. Your own case is milder, you little Indians are just stupidd.

Imagine a country where 8 in 10 people you come across have ULCER during the good old days.
The new phenomenon now is people taking their own lives cos they can't continue to suffer..

How do you propose we end drought genius?
Use the same logic to end flooding.
Drought and other natural disaster will occur - with climate change - even more regularly.
The drought affected like the flood affected - are assessed - and given money to buy food.
This affect people living in semi-arid and arid kenya.
Kenya does that through https://www.ndma.go.ke/ - that was I was part of setting up.
The data is then given to Hunger Safety Net https://www.hsnp.or.ke/ - who send money to them.
When drought become too much - like this year - the number of those to be assisted also increases - and likes of WFP can chip in.

Your drought is nothing compared to what some parts of the world face. Large parts of Australia are also prone to droughts more serious than yours.
Even Nigeria suffers from occasional droughts. Yet nowhere do people suffer and starve like Kenya.

You keep saying the millions of people starving are just a fraction of your country, is that why they're neglected? If they're not many, then concentrate attention there. There are new seeds that grow well in arid places. You can try irrigation.
There's a book I read in secondary School titled Born To Hunger. It was written in the 60s. Kenya was one of the countries highlited in the book. But the writer suggested ways to tackle the problem, most of which I've forgotten now. It's not a problem without a solution but like every problem in Kenya, just like the slums, it's neglected.
