This doesn't include repairs

Which is where the real headache is and why most of them can barely afford repairs.

You buy one tire today, drive through a flooded bad road and by the time you're out of the flood something has torn the tire.

Sometimes you buy a part and in less than one month, the part has gone bad. The cost of original parts that will last long is ridiculous so of course you buy Chinko parts or Tokunbos that you have no way of testing what mileage they already have on them.

If you drive a private vehicle and just move from your office to the house, house to church plus occasional outings, you can never understand the struggle that comes with keeping a vehicle on the road 10-14 hours daily.

Those who drive their own vehicles can even always manage to get by. The ones I pity are those who have to remit money to the vehicle owners.

Those agberos in Anambra do they demand these money with respect or like it's their rights
Your receipts are showing different transport means from haulage to shuttle

When I schooled in NAU… You board a boss from school gate and they pay the guys there… they don’t pay again till they reach their destination

Usually they pay equivalent of two seats, so if they loading 100 per seat, they pay 200

Now if it were Lagos, you’ll see agbero jumping car 5 mins to your journey to collect their own share

In the same distance, agbero don jump your car 5 times… I’ve stayed in Ibadan and it’s not even that bad

You people abroad have lost touch with what goes on in Nigeria, it might have been good your days but it’s worse now.

Visit Lagos one day and jump danfo grin

Bruh the inefficiencies in the system are by design because that's the only way to provide some sort of income to the underclass in a country that produces nothing, and whose economy is entirely based on massive corruption, political patronage, drug running, and a struggling service industry.

LASG did not create thugs. They are just pacifying them. Ibime has already told you what the alternative is - it's either banditry, kidnapping or militancy.

Look, if Nigeria dared to operate as even half efficient country, there would be massive societal breakdown.

Go to any airport in Lagos and see the amount of people 'working there - from the one selling you face mask to the one telling you where to park, from the one selling trolley ticket to the one whose job Is to push trolley, from the airport police at the door to tne customs and immigration people loitering around - then go to almost any airport in say Europe or Yankee and compare, you will see that most of these jobs only exist so that people are prevented from completely starving to death.

These inefficiencies are social palliatives in a dysfunctional ultra-capitalist society like Nigeria with little social welfare programmes. You need to accept if for what it is cheesy

You are not getting my point, or will I say u deliberately refusing to see the merit in my argument. I mean u just referred to people hustling at the airport which by me is okay considering the fact that they are engaging in legal and productive activities to put food on their table.

We are talking of touts who do absolute noting other than smoking weed and forcefully collecting money that is not going into the government's coffers. The official rate per motorist is N800 daily. I'm not against the government collecting taxes (cos we all know that is what needed to run the government), but then having people who are too lazy to work robbing genuine hustlers of sizeable part of their income is what I will never support.

You people are far away and not in tune with the current realities on ground . In places like Lagos island where genuine people go to hustle and sell their wares, these guys do all sorts; they close people's shops, beat them up and even have those they perceived to be stubborn locked up. If ur concern is that there will be anarchy if government goes against them, then I wonder what u will term what is already happening. At least we saw what happened at Alaba 2 weeks ago

The bold is exactly what I feel too, they only read about what makes the news. Those of us that still experience these things on a regualr know what we are saying.

If u are driving from work with two of ur colleagues in the car and let's say u decide to pick ur wife and a friend at a major bus stop like Iyana Oworo where they are already waiting for u; don't be surprised the moment u park to pick them agbero's will walk to ur car and ask u for money. It will take serious explanation in Yoruba and a friendly tone from u before they will allow u go without paying a dime. They automatically assume u picked "their passenger" at their "tarmac" and u must pay. You can then imagine what commercial drivers face if u as a private car owner has to go through that

At that point na to beg remain , cos even if u report to police nothing will happen. The parks chairmen regularly send money to the DPO's and area commanders in territory , so police don't do much when their matters are reported

Well they're not the ones that forced drivers in their state to go on a strike, so likely their methods are more subtle.

Probably drivers in Anambra have bigger fishes to fry than worrying about small agbero. Today being Monday, they dare not even go out to make a living.

Paying agbero is secondary when you have Obis ESN beheading people for daring to go out

Onitsha is a dangerous zone as well, upper iweka… but the issue there is vehicle loaders forcing people to board a vehicle.

They did that to my friend going to Ibadan, forced her to enter a Lagos vehicle and dropped her off.

Obiano cleared them in his first two years and abandoned the pursuit…

That’s why I’m never in support of agberos in transport system… Those guys are lunatics

While growing up I do know traditional rulers in Yoruba land are not allowed to to show their bare head from the day they assume the throne. Even in religious houses like church and mosque, they are expected to either have a small skull cap on or their crown.

It seems much have changed in these modern times. I saw pictures from RCCG's recent conference for Oba's and I was confused. At best I'm hoping these men who have their heads not covered are chiefs and not kings in the actual sense of it sha

Let me also point out that Russia is not my beloved. I might agree with Russia concerning Ukraine but that does not mean I agree with them on everything. So how do you propose LASG clamps down on them?

If the government wants to put an end to their Menace , it’s possible .

Growing up my old man used to tell me about “welfare services”/juvenile homes where parents and guardians take their delinquent kids to . Some children already displaying recalcitrant behaviors are taken there and some of them get reformed . I believe having more welfare homes wouldn’t be a bad idea to reform the young and promising hooligans .

Then government needs to build farm settlements in areas like Epe, Ibeju, Badagry, outskirts of Ikorodu , etc where those sentenced by mobile courts can be sent to in order to engage in productive activities like farming , producing palm oil , turning farm produce to other useful products , etc. All those boys they parade for stealing in traffic should be sent there .

Let the government make thuggery and agberoism less attractive to new entrants . I’ve been listening to jingles on radio where the state government warns that those involved in jungle justice , those who supply tyre & petrol for burning thieves , those who are bystanders and those who watch jungle justice happen are all criminals and will be dealt with by the long arm of the law. Let us have same for agberoism.

I propose the government have recognized parks and garages chairmen whose underlinings are duly registered and traceable and have them collect the official ₦800 on behalf of the government ( of course they would get renumerated either by Commision or salary). Then let any other person caught parading themselves as toll collectors be dealt with by the long arms of the law.

I'm saying this because I've seen scenarios where Lagos state goverment can actually act if they want to. Lagos state government has phased out bikes in some LGA's in Lagos and it's being strictly adhered. Before one could just get a bike from obalende to quickly rush go do interview at V.I during breaks and be back. Today there's nothing like that ; those Okada men are out of business and everybody has moved on.

The government should then go all out to treat the 4ck up of any ex-tout that forments trouble. They did it with ọmọ onílé's and even had the house of assembly put a Law in place for that; they can do same for agberoism.

Lagos shouldn't be in competition with Anambra for headquarters of Agberoism like Ẹ̀gbọ́n Dayo is making it to seem with those Anambra receipts he always brandishes ; instead Lagos should continue to be the center of excellence where Agberoism should not be celebrated as the only solution to teeming unemployed youth population explosion.

In Nigeria we like to paper cracks till the buildings collapse on our head. I'm surprised these bus people did not go to strike sooner.

No matter how you try to placate and satisfy these people it will get to a point that you cannot make concessions any further. They might as well kill you instead of you to keep running this rat race. Na once person dey die while a coward will die a thousand times

Let anarchy happen if it wants to happen. Dollar is now #800

People that were buying indomie at 1k per carton in 2015 now have to cough out 4k5. Nigerians are a docile bunch. Countries have scattered for less than what's happening in that place
