pansophist: What is there to understand when the topic at hand is the unjust and unreasonable sentence of 24 years handed out to a man for just posting on social media his views on Islam and you went off the tangent rambling about Yahoo boys and oloshos and even bag of rice. I wonder how you guys manage to pass exams. Oya explain what you mean by these, and how it relates to sentencing a man for blasphemy:
Even if we are to digress off topic, how are oloshos a symptom of a failed system? Are there no oloshos in a "pass" system? Oya name one country or era there are/were no oloshos. In both the old Testament and new testament, there were oloshos. Even Jesus did not hate oloshos as much as you guys. Why do you lump oloshos in the same category as yahoo boys or scamming pastors? 1 Like |

[quote author=matri6 post=111639765]the rate at which yahoo is pervading through every fibre of our society today is quite alarming. go to every cities and the smallest villages, you will always see a handful of yahoo boys. ... though it has benefited those who indulge in it but, it is psychologically affecting those who tends to uphold dignity...the psychological effect as it is fondly called OPPRESSION. .... the country is bleeding. poverty is busy crushing and frustrating the life of youths from humble background in a merciless manner. as for the dude born from a poor background , no one care for him apart from his poor parents. government doesn't care! no good job. nothing nothing! youths are finding ways to break free from shackle of poverty. and this what gives birth to the influence of yahoo in our society. .... but no! the youth aren't lazy. it's the system that doesn't work in favour of the youths from poor background. no reasonable job to salvage them from poverty except those slavery labor work. and in nigeria there is no helping culture. every dude for himself. government? no help! banks? no help! family? no help! friends? no help! .... i often heard people say go learn online skill. but hardly do they know that most of the youths are so poor that they cant afford 3 square meal per day not to talk of acquiring a laptop, and then pay for online course and all that. Go to our campuses and witness this...and mind you not everyone is tech savvy. Though I'm not in anyway supporting laziness but being factual. ... and the funniest part is that it has becomes a norms in the society. celebrity talks about it as norm. musicans sing a praise of it. comedians make a joke of it. parents applauds their rich yahoo children. religious leaders pray for and bless the yahoo guys who bring them gift. .. the society is passing a message across and it's now getting clearer. ... And as we've all known the society has made it legal that there is no punishable act for it. so the yahoo boys can easily flaunt their riches without no questioning or consequences. even the EFCC 'only' go after the biggest boys of which they can obtain some tangible substance. ... i couldn't explain the feeling you have seeing your juniors and mates who even refuse to further their education building houses, buying luxurious cars and exotic phone. sincerely, you feel worthless and miserable. my so called mates that indulge in it find it hard to relate with me cos of their new status. ... in most communities the upright guys are seen as a persona non grata. the wealthy young youth are being praised. ... i'm still a 200l undergraduate though. but who that epp in a decayed society? even on campus nobody tends to celebrate academic excellence again.yahoo has taken that order. ... it is now dawn on me, seeming that schooling is a waste of time. afterall, our senior colleagues are out there jobless. then of course we knw our fate. Even within the campus, I know the challenges poor upright guys face. Sometimes you go to lectures on empty stomach. Many are still at the mercy of the school cos they're yet to pay their fees. Guys from humble background will relate better. ... To get my message clearer. I'm in no way talking about the guys that are into rituals which they deceitfully called yahoo plus. My topic of discussion has nothing to do with yahoo plus. To be succinct. ..... Now we the so called upright guys are experiencing the bandwagon effect. We are considering the second though every minutes. We want to do it not just to feel among but because we want to wave a goodbye to poverty. Then after we've made it, we will stop it. Thereafter we will come back to our normal state of upright guys. .... Well I'm writing from my own philosophical point of view. I'm neither supporting or opposing the practice. I'm neutral. .... What is your view on this? Or what is your own advice for the poor upright dude there considering a second though It's well, but my own be say. Forget Yahoo boys, no let person pressure you, no give yourself too much work, set standards and start learning skills that will set you apart. Attend seminars, meet new people and read, read even beyond the scope of your course and you will see ideas coming to you. Laslas, no forget God na HIM be the sustainer, we go dey alright. Also, most importantly set goals and work towards achieving them. |

Bro, I so much want this country to just breakup into fractions of 20 nations if possible. Yoruba, igbo, Hausa and other bigger tribes should go their separate ways. The leaders and politicians know for sure that Nigeria is dead, that's why they are all trying to steal as much as they can before the eventual collapse happens. Talk of the last kicks of a dieing horse. pansophist: 2 Likes |

maak400: Nigerian issue (and at large, the global south AKA the third world) is not only the doing of Nigerian politicians but also the configuration of the global order. After the second war, the winner (the USA) and the allies signed the Bretton woods agreement, a global financial and economical system designed to favor just the west, especially the US (eg the USD being the world reserved currency), and the rest of the world scrapping under. Africa in particular was assigned the role of resource extraction only, and the inflow of technology, finances, industrialization, etc was denied. Although some countries rose above it (eg China which was under complete embargo by the western world for three decades), most countries didn't. I will recommend a book for you, it is titled ''the confession of an economic hitman'' by John Perkins. The author worked for the US government and as the name of the book implied, he was a hitman sent globally to destroy economies of resource-rich countries, and Nigeria was one of them, he mentioned Nigeria in that book. I am writing this to give you a bird's eye view of a global landscape while things are the way they are. This is in no way absolving Nigerian leaders of their responsibilities to do better, but because they do not only take the blame. For example, lots of loan request by the previous administration to build a power grid, refineries, dam, and structures for industrialization was denied until China came into the picture to change the game. Having said that, the sad news is that even if Nigeria breaks up, it's just one problem solved, the bigger problem is the one above, the global order of white supremacy that place itself on top, at the expense of everyone. Russia and Ukraine war is a perfect example. The west unleashed all its economic missiles to destroy and collapse the Russian economy, but Russia is too strong to fall. With over 5000 sanctions rained on a single country, no African country will survive it, just like Russia did. So you see, we are royally forked up. 13 Likes 3 Shares |

Monikers make new threads everyday about being defrauded of money, phones, and property in Nigeria. At one time or another, some of these monikers felt that Yahoo wasn’t a crime, mocked gullible victims abroad, and thought that they were too smart to be scammed. People should never forget that birds always return to the nests where they laid eggs. People will start seeing Yahoo as a crime after they learn firsthand how it feels to be victims of fraud. 1 Like |

Bbbwings: I am not worried about Russia, America will break before Russia does. Russia is one of the few countries that can choose not to trade with any country on the planet, basically going autarky, and will still be fine. With the number of resources, oil, and land that Russia has, no sanctions on earth from the west can break it. It is naturally self-sufficient. And China will never let Russia fall because they know that after Russia, the western wolves are coming for them. The seed of a multipolar world has been sown, it's only a matter of time before everything will change. My prediction is at the end of the decade, especially when China when surpasses the US as the world's largest economy in GDP (they already surpassed in PPP) and tech. Being the top dog comes with lots of advantages, something the US has abused, and used to impoverish the world while bombing a lot back to the stone age. Russia and China coalition will bring this new era. 8 Likes 1 Share |

Bbbwings: Like the ancient Chinese military strategist once said, If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. Sun Tzu Like I said earlier, the US will get destroyed before Russia disintegrate. You are referring to a country that knows the enemy well. You can only lose a battle when you don't know the nature, tactics, operation, strength, and weakness, of your enemy. Russia and in particular, Putin knows the west well. You only lose a war when you are ignorant about the enemy and don't have the military to back it up. Russia has both. Also, there have been lots of colored revolutions staged inside Russia with their Russian sellout such as Alexei Navalny, but they were crushed like a crouton, the most notable one being the Chechen war of independence. The war was so brutal that Grozny, the capital was designated as the most destroyed city on earth. Even the second world war where a whole capital was run down to nothing (e.g Warsaw) cannot be compared to the destruction of Grozny. Do not forget that it was the Russians that kept Assad from being killed like Gadaffi by the west, and Putin has always been vocal about the atrocities and operations of the west. 10 Likes 1 Share |

pansophist: Just at the first paragraph of your post, the book: The confession of an economic hitman, kept bouncing in my mind. It is the second book I read this year, the first edition though, and planning to read the second edition soonest. That book opened my eyes in another direction. The West has really infiltrated the global sphere, their claws is at every necks. It will not be easy for Africa/Nigeria to survive at all. Hope Russia comes out strong once more. Thanks. 6 Likes |

Thanks for your analysis boss, I always look forward to your thoughts on global politics. Another thing I noticed about the west, especially America is that once an African or third world country is beginning to develop and prosper, USA will look for a stupid excuse to invade and bomb them. I believe if Nigeria gets a good visionary president by chance today and begins to rebuild Nigeria to prosperity, USA will cook up a propaganda and invade Nigeria back into underdevelopment. pansophist: |

maak400: Remember the time of presidential aspirant MKO Abiola, when he died just hours after being given a cup of tea by the US diplomat Susan Rice visiting him. Most people believed the US killed him, since all evidence points in that direction. That's just one example of how the west prevents Nigeria from developing. They either kill a leader they know will change things or refuse to give meaningful tech, loans, and support. 5 Likes |

CaveAdullam: Ye, their claws are practically everywhere. No nation on earth (except China, and Russia) right now can easily decouple from the western economic system. Their systems have penetrated deeply into the veins of every country. Sanctions are what are used to test the resilience and dependency of a country on the western system. If a country withstands it, then it's strong and on a solid path. From international courts, big banks, currency, military, economy, technology, finance, research, industry, virtually everything. Only China singlehandedly is beating them in every one of those areas, and even more such as AI, robotics, 5g tech, and many more. The world should be rooting for China because if it is successful, a new global system will be ushered, and the world can be free from western imperialism. 11 Likes 1 Share |

DonroxyII: Your line of thinking is very western. I see this kind of thinking in the media as well, where everything China or other country does is judged against the west. Just to point something out, the Chinese civilization is the oldest in the world, it's over six thousand years old. The west is less than five hundred. Now for over 6000 years, China didn't go around the world colonizing and killing others. China (also India) kept to its lane and traded with the world instead. In fact they build the great wall of China to keep others out of their territory, not conquer them. Up until now, China is the only superpower in modern history that rose from the dust to the greatest without firing a single bomb on anyone, even their tiny neighbor such as Vietnam, Indonesia, or Myanmar. So judging from the Chinese peaceful long history spanning thousand of years, I don't think it would be anything different. The Chinese people you see in the streets of Nigeria are busy doing business, building infrastructures and not colonizing you. Dont put them with the west in the same box. 9 Likes |

pansophist:That's quite Myopic of You to conclude I'm Western. It shows You are also Anti anything Western Good or Bad meanwhile there is no any Pure Good nor Pure Bad in the World: Chinese might have been Conservative in the past thousand of years but Caucasians have showed them the beauty of expansionism and Everyone keeps expanding meanwhile to the detriment of the original land owners: The Hunger for Resources nowadays is unlike thousands of years because there is now constant need for Innovations and Inventions Technologically and Technically as well as Securitisation of Inventories: Thus, If Diplomacy Fails, Military Moves in: What does Military Does, They ain't there to shake hands nor break bottles! This is just control for Global resources and I really don't care about West or East, in the long-last, Imperialism is the answer whether China or Europe: The Powerful Ones will always enslaved the Powerless Ones, that's Natural Order: Power corrupts and Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely: China/Russia/Iran/North Korea can rise tomorrow and become another global corrupt force same as Western today and Other Nations will also rise to Counter them: That's Natural Order from Eon Years Nations Rise and Fall: Non of them Good or Bad: We only have Predators and Prey: That's what I'm trying to draw to Your understanding: A lion that rescued Rabbit from Wild Dogs is not Nice, Same Lion will Turn around and consume the same Rabbit within the twinkle of an eye once There is Hunger: The Rabbit should evolve and develop Itself to have a voice in the Jungle: No wild animal is Good, they are all Predators! The Gladiators are only fighting territory and spans of Controls: The Bombs they have all created is huge enough to even Deorbit Earth from the Solar System but Will the Power beyond Humanities allow them to be Successful? They will exterminate one another first: I won't rejoice over China/Russia, I want them all to keep Checking and Sacking One another thy kingdom come until Humanities become enough civilized to see all as Brotherhood! I see Chinese Imperialism also loading, You might be insulting Nigerians to always voting for Mo.rons as Presidents but trust me, Nigerians all over the World always prefer the next available evil once they are tired with the Present evil fvcking them in the butt. GEJ is better than Buhari, Buhari will soon be better than GEJ if GEJ should be our next president: China or US are all the same thing: Whether Siberian Tiger or Jaguar, I'm not expecting Niceness from Beasts! |
