elijah101:una get brain freeze. When you are able to show me where I said one country is better than the other in this thread, quote the statement and get back to me. People incapable of independent thinking, even those who have supposedly lived in the sane climes cannot hold conversation and stay on point. Quit rambling like the intellectual lilliputians that are vapid and boring, and only have wack lines like 'this is what i make in a week, yen yen yen'. Show me where in this thread I was doing comparison of countries. Someone yarned dust and I cleared him, and he sef has admitted stylishly say his post was wildly ignorant, you are joining him to deflect to a topic I did not bring up. Be a man of your own, you hear. It isn't that hard. 5 Likes 1 Share |

elijah101:Elijah101, man to man, I beg you, don't be emotional when discussing. Not an insult. Strive to not be emotional and you will stand out. Many men are so weak and emotional and it beats me. If you are wrong admit it, it shows strength and character. It won't kill you. Ok let me break it down further. Imagine that Mr Woody came and made a bogus claim that there is no internet in Nigeria and people are riding donkeys, and I or you stepped in to say haha, sofrisofri na, internet dey and people are driving cars, does that have anything to do with comparison of countries? Stay on point, stick to the facts, and stand out when having discussions.. cos only very few people can. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

elijah101:see what I mean, does inverter translate to solar and must the setup be mega! Jeezuz! I don tire o...lol. ok guy, you can set up an inverter that will last you 3-4days to watch TV, power fan for you to sleep pretty at night, and lighting (with energy saving bulbs) to go about your activities all for under 200k even as things cost now. How much more before now and the many ppl that have set it up. I haven't even incorporated solar to mine cos the current setup is still okay for me. Why are you jumping straight to the millions millions setup Hehehe. O GA oo Elijah if you want to buy a car now, will you only consider a 2022 range rover OR a car that you can afford that can get you from point a to b without issues. Cmon man! Well I have shared what i want to share with you, if you get it fine, if not it's all good. Cheers 6 Likes 2 Shares |

elijah101:see now, you have also dropped an ignorant claim. Internet is more expensive in the US, UK, Canada and Australia, and I'm talking from direct experience of two of those countries and from friends in the other two countries. Not people using WiFi at work o, I'm talking about prepaid internt plans. They are far far more expensive. Shey you go argue that one too. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Creamcrest: You don't understand the suffering of ppl. All this thing you just mentioned are only available to the rich. It's a global world and wherever you find comfort becomes your home. Some of us will never find comfort in Nigeria, untill you travel out. Non of us will go to the world beyond(hell or heaven) with earthly possession. But, some of us will enjoy a more quality life and be a blessing to others. 3 Likes |

Treadway: I have never heard that word “prepaid internet plans” It is unlimited data at a fixed amount , and you don’t pre-pay. You use and pay that fixed amount at the end of your cycle, usually one month. Putting figures into it, for $30 a month, you can unlimited 5G internet plan. How is this expensive ? 2 Likes |

sonnie10:aside the screenshots, may I suggest you pay extra attention to the link below. It is exhaustive enough https://www.cable.co.uk/mobiles/worldwide-data-pricing/ Airtel gives me 5k/ 40gb most times and 20gb other times. Ps: let's just say I take back the term 'prepaid' I used earlier, wholly. I suspect that may be the next thing peeps will latch on to, ignoring the substance..lets just say i used the wrong term whilst I was trying to specify individual user data subs paid for, exclusive from WiFi at the office or elsewhere 4 Likes 1 Share

Bro … this data matter … forget it … i wish there was a way you could actually check the data u use in a day … in Nigeria 1g does not equal 1gb 1gb equals at most 400mb … u are been cheated without knowing it my bro ….the only way to get good internet in nigeria is to settle for the fibre ones and the likes … its cheap dont get me wrong … but its dependent on electricity and na for inside your ouse u fit use am …and u dey foret say verizon dey … mint mobile dey … lyca mobile dey Treadway: 1 Like |

Treadway: Let's compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges Here is my take on this; Abroad For minimun wage job, at $12 per hour, when you work 8 hours your make $96. Net (after taxes) would be about $80 for a day's job. If you have an internet plan of $30 monthly, this amount would pay for 2 months plus. Nigeria For minimun wage job, at #30, 000 salary for a month, that equivalent of #1k daily. Now, if you have like you said Airtel at #5k per month, you would have worked for 5 days to afford your montly internet bill. Is this not what these discussion is about? 5 Likes |

sonnie10:first of all, let's be clear, I'm not getting dragged into a comparison of country Vs country. That is not what I'm in this discussion about. I am not interested!!! However, as a lover of intelligent discourse let us dive into this. The answer isn't absolute, but rather relative. That something can be afforded by people doesn't mean it is inherently cheaper in absolute terms. Stay with me. I am aware that indomie noodles is priced a certain way in the US and I'm sure other countries too. Some Nigerian foods are priced higher than other foods indigenous to those locations abroad as well. So if a carton of indomie is say $40 (3k+ here) or a plate of a Nigerian delicacy is (1k here) $30 at a restaurant, despite your clear minimum wage calculation for the two countries would you say that those foods are more expensive in Nigeria? You may say yes, but I'll say no. Reason? Even despite that minimum wage, many can still keep up with eating indomie and the local delicacy, while typically a Nigerian in US wont. I know people who deliberately run away from indomie there, not because they can't afford to, but it isn't something they can keep up with, it doesn't even make sense when there are cheaper alternatives, and ultimately because it simply is not cheap, even despite that like you have analysed they can afford it based on the math. There are tons of posts here about ppl being encouraged to adapt to eating the foods indigenous to their locations rather than Nigerian food cos it ain't cheap. Just look around travel section you'll see them. But based off this math, they can afford it, but yet can't afford it. It's a catch22 sometin. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Treadway:The reason people don’t eat indomie here is because it’s not a healthy option Food in Nigerian restaurants here is not more than $10-15 a plate. Same with a piece of burger meal. It is affordable to most. Because that is one tenth of daily minimum wage One thousand naira plate of food in Nigeria is one third of daily minimum wage in Nigeria (if you eat three times in a day, salary is gone on food alone) I just like to practically about these things. 1 Like |

sonnie10:ok o. Me, I don't eat indomie/golden penny...these our instant noodles sha. Too many chemicals. I hate it and don't believe it is a healthy food (tho I can't prove this) BUT my padi's wey dey avoid am na cost dem talk say be their reason not health. Also, I have read many posts from people here, either they are advising others or the people themselves are talking about how they have decided to reduce/replace Nigerian foods, and it is always for cost reasons. If you look around, you are sure to see these posts. It's all good sha. |
