I realized that Peter Obi must be special when I read an interview on how he joined politics. I have learnt that the best politicians are not those that really planned to make politics a career.

So I came across this interview some years ago. Then I never knew Obi would even aspire for presidency. According to the interview, when APGA was hunting for a gubernatorial candidate, the party chieftains went to a prominent politician to either contest on the party's platform or give them advice. I don't really know ...

The man told the APGA chieftains that he would give them 3 names to pick from. According to the interviewee,
"The first name is Peter Obi, the second is Peter Obi and the third is Peter Obi"

The rest they say is history.
I couldn't help believing then that there is something the man must have seen in Peter Obi to recommend him in that manner.

You see, for Nigeria to ever become a functional country, this idea of commercial politics must end. As long as politics is financially enticing, it will always be seen as a shortcut to wealth for many a never-do-well.

You're right.

I've also seen him described as a "reluctant leader." He will only lead because he is pushed, and he is absolutely certain he has something to offer.

And I agree. grin

Public offices should be made really unflattering (not 100% austerity, but moderately) so that only people who do things for passion and change can pursue them.

People that knew him before politics never knew he could do politics. He is an exemplary man, but there are many Nigerians..Yoruba, hausa, igbos etc like him but you don’t find them in Nigerian politics rather they are working in executive positions in big buildings in New York, London, Paris, Berlin etc to sustain the greatness of western nations

"... The ideas of commercial politics must end"
That is why we must permanently retire Tinubu and Atiku from politics
