Just an appeal. When people ask for advice for cheaper or free alternatives, please respond if you know the solution or keep it moving pls. The reason I say this is that a lot of people are going through a lot. Converting naira to pounds at 1000/£ and you're asking the person to pay more for car insurance or buy stuff online when they've asked for a free etc. It's not very nice now IMHO. I get that you may be trying to warn them of an unintended consequence in the future, but sometimes "there's no money on ground" lol. NOT everyone is settled in UK with 10yrs experience collecting big bucks in ££££ every month. Some people are still owing gbese in Naija etc. This might be the struggling phase for some...as really shi shi no dey. It just rubs me the wrong way as you don't know current condition. Just had to let it out of my chest. My 2 pence...I come in peace 6 Likes |

ugoonuoha: I genuinely understand what you're saying but I believe it's the wrong approach to not warn people off dangerous things because they are going through a lot. Often, initially 'cheap' or 'free' things come with massive unexpected costs (or even other major consequences) down the line. Encouraging people to be penny wise and pound foolish because things are hard would be a major disservice to them and others who might read the thread in the future. Remember that this is a faceless forum - when the consequences arise, there will be no one to hold responsible except oneself. Anyway, it's always up to the person asking to make their own decision. Others can only advise. 12 Likes |

ugoonuoha:Whist what you are saying is understandable, someone asking for an illegal favour should not be patted on the back. They now live in a new system where failure to abide by the laws have grave consequences so we have to leave that Nigerian mentality of cutting corners and cheating the system in Nigeria. Regarding free items, looking for freebies isn’t a bad thing. However, looking for a free a mattress could have dire consequences eg bed bugs, skin diseases and one might end up spending way more than they were trying to save. The people here giving advice are not doing it from a malicious or condescending place, we truly do not want people to enter wahala. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Or get free items, that become detrimental to their health or their loved one's........... We speak, adequate guidance, jokes, banter and truth ....... Hello everyone, Is there a deadline to when one can apply for pswp? If dependant got sponsorship that was later withdrawn, can main applicant still go back to apply for pswp? |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Amarathripple0: 1:03pm On Nov 06, 2022 |
June232022:Ah, why are you guys waiting for a link from the school? I believe the school would give her a document stating that she has graduated, which she has to request for as opposed to just waiting. She needs to apply for her visa before it expires and January is just around the corner. So waiting for the school to reach out is not a very productive approach please. |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Amarathripple0: 1:07pm On Nov 06, 2022 |
Happyfellow147:If you mean, post study work visa. You have to apply before your visa expires as long as you meet the requirement eg. you have graduated and the school can confirm this. However, if you have changed your visa from Tier 4 to Tier 2, you cannot apply for a PSW as it falls still under Tier 4. |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Ahappygirl: 1:10pm On Nov 06, 2022 |
Get her to contact her school and make enquiries. Most likely the reason would be that all her results would need to be out and her degree awarded before she gets a go ahead to apply for PSW. However, it's nothing to worry about, if your visa expires 23rd of Jan, you can still apply for PSW 22nd of Jan and remain in the country till its out. The university most likely knows this and would give her a go ahead before the visa expires but advice her to contact them. June232022: |

Ahappygirl: she has been at their help center twice and they dont give her favourable answers and equally sent mails seems the school is slow |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Ahappygirl: 1:14pm On Nov 06, 2022 |
They need to wait for the school to give a go ahead via email to apply for PSW. She can't apply without the school forwarding her name to home office that she's graduated and eligible to apply. They can still apply in January and that's fine, infact I'll advice they apply in January as it gives them more time if their visa is approved sometime in March, applying in November reduces their time in the UK Amarathripple0: |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Ahappygirl: 1:17pm On Nov 06, 2022 |
My dear, I've been there so can totally understand the frustration but do not apply for PSW if your university has not expressly told you that you are done and your name has been forwarded and you can now apply. There is still time, get her to ring her schools compliance office, they are more likely to give a faster response. June232022: |

June232022:You shouldn't be in a hurry to apply for PSW. You should be hustling right now to get a sponsored role. PSW should be the last option if no job materialises and you can apply very close to your student visa expiry. Actually now is a good time for job seekers as companies plan and start recruiting for the new year.. |

I have a question, does Home office allow working extra hours for your sponsor in another job category which is not on the shortage list? I have read through the conditions and this isn't expressly stated or forbidden... |

Happyfellow147:Deadline is the day your student visa expires. So if it has already expired, you can't apply again. |
