Otedola is not eating your money. I doubt he even has any business any more.

I learnt from a friend that a consortium of banks lent him $1.5bn around 2002. It was what he used to purchise oil tankers and dominated the diesel business in Nigeria. He had close to a monopoly of the business in Nigeria.

In 2008 or 2009, the price of oil collapsed from around $130 to $35 the following year. He could no longer service his debts. This bankrupted him. Over the years, I think he has sold most of his businesses including Zenon or Forte oil

He isn't a dollar billionaire any more.

He still has money but not the type he had before. He is largely living off old glory and money.

People are always guilt tripping billionaires when they take time out to enjoy their money, saying that there are hungry mouths to feed and all of that. Since before the advent of Christ, there has often been poverty around the world. Christ met and left it there. So even if you give all the world's wealth to feed hungry mouths, you will only make it worst as you're going to have many more people starving.
Otedola has sponsored many to school, feed many hungry people through his philanthropic projects and contributed to social good in many ways. So it's not bad taking time to unwind with family.
