Francis Uzoho kept a cleansheet today as his side, Omonia Nicosia beat Olympiakos Nicosia 4-0.

It was his 2nd cleansheet of the season.
is he the team’s number 1 now?

Respect them from now till 3035 but It doesn't change the fact that Ndidi is a limited CDM. And that Onyeka is a benchwarming poor ball playing Midfield personnel. And that Aribo is a Pseudo Midfielder. As for Etebo, let's be honest here, the Etebo of 2018 WC is not the same today plus he is a Visionless and Non-creative ball hugger in the middle.

Etebo gave us one of Nigeria's best Midfield Performances in the last few years and I mentioned it in another discussion pages ago when discussing Mikel Obi.

I give every player their props and accolades but the hard truth must be told about our midfield. We keep fielding limited MFs and we keep paying the price.

So it is not a matter of respect but one of tactical and technical truth. Truth that will continue to haunt us until we get it right in the middle game.

fabyom:
None of those 3 midfielders you listed is better than those invited. Stop disrespecting Onyeka, Etebo, Aribo and Wilf!

Alhassan, Onyedika and Nwakali won't even make Brentford bench. When Onyeka was balling in Denmark those guys you listed were no where to be found!

Can you imagine the nonsense. Quality over Quantity because if Onyeka was at division 2 or Belgium league, he would had been bossing it
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 2:18am On Nov 12, 2022
Raphael Onyedika only needed one season at FCM to own the Danish Super Ligaen and bag his next move. Won Best Young player of the league in his first season in Denmark.

While it took Frank Onyeka 3-4 seasons to show himself a force in Denmark.

Also, You aren't making an intelligent logical argument. I mean, What the hell is this?

What do you mean by "when Onyeka was balling in Denmark?" What the hell is this crap??

How old are the players in question sef? Nwakali, Alhassan and Onyedika. How old please?

You could also say when Victor Moses was balling at Chelsea and winning the EPL, none of our wingers could be found thus we must go recall him.

We could say the same for Mikel too. Let's go get him out of retirement. Since no one comes close to him in our midfield today as him be ancestor.

Listen, it is not a matter of how far here but how well.

Onyeka is a limited Midfielder with poor ball playing ability. That is the truth.

He is a tank of pressing passion. A lad who loves to roam box to box but has little positional intelligence and very poor press resistance. Dude's ball playing and passing range is not impressive. Poor is the word.

Iwobi, Ndidi, Etebo Midfield got owned by that Algerian Midfield in 2019 in that Afcon semis. Absolutely reduced to mere passers-by.

Also, we saw Aribo x Ndidi Midfield against a Tunisian Covid-ravaged Midfield and they were totally shit. Totally clueless. Rubbish all round. Tell yourself the bloody truth and stop this nonsense.

Just stop capping Fabyom. We need to upgrade our midfield personnel in terms of tactical and technical quality and cease this "he plays in the EPL mentality".

All you do when Midfield matters is being discussed is cap and ask funny questions. Was it not here many pages ago I schooled you on Onyeka's deficiencies and showed you other Ball playing African midfielders?? I also explained who Alhassan replaced at Antwerp and told you where he is now. Same dude is heading to the World Cup as we speak.

Why acting amnesiac now? grin

Listen, Nwakali, Alhassan and Onyedika are far better ball playing midfielders than Frank Onyeka and Wilfred Ndidi. That is on period. Argue all you want but this is the gospel truth backed by everything from eye test to Stats.

Etebo can hold his own in the ball playing aspect ofcos but he doesn't have the positional discipline of Onyedika and Ndidi in the CDM role nor does he have the passing range and lines breaking creativity of Nwakali, Iwobi and Alhassan in a deeplying midfield role or a central midfield role.

You don't know much about these lads (the uninvited) because you hardly watch them and thus can't properly assess them. You haven't taken ample time to truly watch and assess.... So all you do is cap and ask "are you serious?" to sound all serious.

Oga, Onyeka is a limited workrate merchant while Ndidi is a Ball winning DM with limited ability on the ball. Finito. Our midfield needs more than that. We need more brains than brawns.

Serie A Battle: Tyronne Ebuehi beats Okereke & Dessers

Ebuehi played all 90 and emerged Victorious with Empoli in a 2-0 win over US Cremonese.

Okereke played all 90 too while Dessers came off the bench on 69mins.

New Lad Watch: Azeez Oseni, 2002-born, AM and FW
*Not exactly new as I have mentioned him before but this is a proper mini-profile on him.

First season in Professional Football in Europe. Just 20 yrs old.

Already on 2 goals and 1 assist in 1 start (4 games) in the Slovak Fortuna Super Liga.

Bagged a goal and an assist for the winner yesterday to lead his side, Spartak Trnava to a 2-1 win yesterday over MFK Skalica to push them to third on the Table. It was his first Start.

His assist was beautiful. Showed fine vision.

See it here... https://www.instagram.com/reel/Ck1fFmoMljf/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Keenly watching his development.

Remember this name.

Gift Emmanuel Orban. Lad is on fire in the OBOS-Ligaen and will likely gain promotion with his club to the Norwegian Eliteserien and possibly bag a decent move. Only 20 yrs old. A goal scoring monger.

On 14 goals, 6 assists in 15 starts (18 games)

Made Team of the Weeks multiple times and even bagged POTM for July.

He scored a brace again today in Stabæk's 4-0 win. His 13th and 14th goals of the season.

Meanwhile... remember this name.

Gift Emmanuel Orban, 20 yrs, Striker/CF.

Joint Top Scorer in Norway's 2022 OBOS-Ligaen with 16 goals, 6 assists in 19 starts (22 league games) helping his side, Stabæk to get promoted to the Norwegian Eliteserien in his first professional season in Europe.

Would play top flight football at the beginning of the new year (2023) in Norway assuming he won't secure a move outside Norway.

Another young lad I have been following keenly. Time will tell on these prospects.

Victor Osimhen: Africa's 2nd most valuable player in World Football behind Only Mohamed Salah according to Transfermrkt's latest updates.

Victor Osimhen saw his Transfermrkt value rise from 65Million euros to 70million euros.

Salah saw his Transfermrkt Value drop from 90million euros to 80million euros but he still maintains his place as Africa's most valuable player in the market today.

Sadio Mane who used to be second is now Africa's 4th most valuable with 60million euros. A drop from 70million euros.

Achraf Hakimi is Africa's 3rd most valuable with 65million euros on Transfermrkt.

It's only a matter of time before Victor Osimhen takes his place as Africa's Number 1 and Most Valuable player in World Football.

We need to tweak that midfield. We keep using the same failed personnel that won’t bring anything new to the mix. Choosing players SOLELY based on the leagues they play. Cut it if they are not cutting it for SE.

Nwakali did not play against Tunisia at the nation's cup and he did not play against Ghana in the world cup qualifier.
In those games we needed a midfielder.
Iwobi was not available for those games and nwakali should have stepped in.
We lost both games because of midfield issues

Did an Ndidi x Aribo Midfield get us past the Round of 16 against a Covid ravaged Tunisian Midfield?? Did Nwakali play vs Tunisia? Why mentioning him with respect to that game?

Did that midfield duo even create chances through the middle?? We are talking raising the quality of our middle game dynamics and you are already jumping the gun to Afcon title.

Fabyom, stop deceiving yourself by asking evasive questions. You have to run well first before you can fly.

Before talking Afcon title, let us get the midfield in order. Right now, it is not in order and we only do a disservice to our national team to keep buttering them up as okay when they are poor in several middle game aspects.

And yes, the Same K. Nwakali went to that Afcon and emerged Tops as Nigeria's Highest Big Chances creator. He also turned our set piece situations into real dangers against the oppositions and did so well in the middle.

And Onyedika only had 5 cameo mins against Algeria. 5 MINS!!! Fabyom!!! 5mins!!! What did you expect him to show or do in 5 mins?? How many touches of the ball did he even make??

That you are using 5mins to rate a player shows that your level of football analysis needs to be SERIOUSLY upgraded.

You are the one spilling Half truths here. 5mins to rate Onyedika... Smh. You are unbelievable. Tufiakwa!!!

As in eh, e haff tire me. The Midfield is not just working but no we must insist on it because player A balls in the EPL and player B has been there for long and has "experience".

Experience or whatever, without the tools and tactical/technical attributes to make the midfield wheels spin right is all hogwash.

Like you have said, Our midfield truly needs the right tactical/personnel tweak(s).

Enough of this lame "same of the same".

Why would Paserio give him Onyedika five minutes and Frank 90 minutes when Onyedika is better? Paserio doesn't know a good player or what? Nwakali was at AFCON and made no difference. Zero assist and goals. We were the only team that defeated Egypt within 90 minutes with that exceptional midfield. We pressed Tunisia and could have Equalized even with 10 men. Why are we not putting international friendlies to good use?,Is it not an avenue to assess players strengths and weaknesses?.
We have a large poll of players that can add depth and grit to the Super Eagles Team A and B,U23 and U20 national team.

JP doesn't strike me as a coach who is ready to try new things.

We keep squandering opportunities to try new players most especially in midfield which is our major challenge.

@TheSupernerd has been honest and patriotic in his analysis of our midfield dilemma.
We already know what Ndidi,Etebo,Iwobi and Aribo can offer in midfield and it is not good enough.
I don't even rate Bonnke and Frank.

Hey, it's time the coaches give opportunity to players like Alhassan Yusuf,Kelechi Nwakali,Onyedika,Ejaria and others.

We cannot keep repeating the same thing and expecting the same result.

We all saw what the midfield trio of Didier Deschamps,Zidane and Djorkneff achieved in France 1998. It was a balanced midfield.

Why Ngandeu was left out of the world cup list by Song

I have just learned from a source, that Ngadeu is indeed the cause of his non-selection in the World Cup.

After the match against Burundi in June 2022, Zambo Anguissa and Ngadeu fought in the locker room to the point of promising death, hence the exit of the President of the Fecafoot which caused much ink to flow.

Then a decision of sanction will be taken with the requirement to sign an act of peace within the den and to ask forgiveness to the staff and its staff.

This was done by Zambo Anguissa this week, but Ngadeu was clearly opposed to this and refused to sign at the point of giving conditions.

The day before yesterday after the game against Jamaica, the coach and manager Rigobert Song spoke at length on the phone with Gadeu before the release of the official list. Ngadeu categorically refused to comply, hence his absence from the squad that will represent us in the World Cup.

Good luck to the rest of the national team
