That's inhumane! Everyone should be free to choose whatever they want whether to believe or disbelieve the stories written in any book. Whoever finds it interesting can decide to pay attention to it and whoever feels it's trash should walk away. It's a free world! 6 Likes |

Is it not you people who have put your trust in men and giving them power to make laws over and against you which you called legal? So legal has done its work. |
Re: Sentenced To 24 Years For Being An Atheist. by Maynman: 1:07pm On Nov 14, 2022 |
Dtruthspeaker: Do you answer as a nigerian and confined to Nigeria laws? That’s “legal”. |

Dtruthspeaker:Even on this nairaland you are bound to rules, that’s “legal”. |
Re: Sentenced To 24 Years For Being An Atheist. by Dtruthspeaker: 1:12pm On Nov 14, 2022 |
Maynman: I am bound to Law not legal. Law is what has power over me and not exactly legal. Legal only has power when I agree to it and I do not agree with most legals. And legal is stealing Power from Law by saying the same thing which The Lawhas already said which is why it looks like legal has power but it is weak. |

Dtruthspeaker: So you are bound to Nigeria criminal and penal laws? |
Re: Sentenced To 24 Years For Being An Atheist. by Dtruthspeaker: 1:22pm On Nov 14, 2022 |
Maynman: The Law, lex loci, ius naturales has already bounded me to the territory known and described as Nigeria. |
Re: Sentenced To 24 Years For Being An Atheist. by Maynman: 1:23pm On Nov 14, 2022 |
Dtruthspeaker: Exactly, and the laws in Nigeria are laws because they are legal. We have human lawmakers that makes these laws and even override them, making them illegal.

Dtruthspeaker: Are you not also bounded by the law in Nigeria? “The Law, lex loci, ius naturales has already bounded me to the territory known and described as Nigeria.” |
Re: Sentenced To 24 Years For Being An Atheist. by Dtruthspeaker: 1:30pm On Nov 14, 2022 |
Maynman: Lawmakers only came and started in Nigeria after 1900 but my family ascendants/descendants were already bound to Nigeria before they came. So you see, The Law had already finished working long before those white beasts brought their legal. Meanwhile legal does as a man likes, so you should expect injustice. |
Re: Sentenced To 24 Years For Being An Atheist. by Maynman: 1:32pm On Nov 14, 2022 |
Dtruthspeaker: Nigeria was formed in 1960, where were your family before then? Nigeria since its exception has always had lawmakers. Even lawmakers were responsible for amalgamating nigeria into one. Laws are laws because they are legal and you are bound to Nigeria legal laws like you said.

Maynman: And the people of Calabar, Ibo, Benin, Ijebu, Itshekiri, Tiv etc came in 1960 men I got to go. Maynman: Even your definition told you that legal is baseless. |
Re: Sentenced To 24 Years For Being An Atheist. by Maynman: 1:43pm On Nov 14, 2022 |
Dtruthspeaker:You are confused. “Is it not you people who have put your trust in men and giving them power to make laws over and against you which you called legal?” “The Law, lex loci, ius naturales has already bounded me to territory known and described as Nigeria.”

Maynman: The word "borrowed" already tells you and we all know not to trust the borrowing of men! I choose to go to The Law myself and take from it, especially as I did not send anyone to borrow for me. |

Dtruthspeaker:As long as they're not imposing their unbelief on others they're free to live but sometimes imperfect go to the extreme. That's where politics comes to play, if each person should stand on his own nobody will support anyone to impose any barbaric rule on our fellowman. If you choose to subject yourself to some forms of rules that's your cup of coffee but it's evil forcing such rules on others! 1 Like |

This person's crime was not being an atheist, but being blasphemous! It is not exactly wise to be blasphemous where religionists abound.

Maynman: There's no exact crime in many countries laws that pertain to “blaspheming”, but if one goes blaspheming in most religious countries one should expect to be negatively dealt with by the religious public members. And even if they are not negatively dealt with by the religious public members, most countries will legally deal with one for disturbing the peace. |

budaatum: Religious countries have blaspheming laws, secular countries don’t, so what will secular countries consider as “blaspheming” before they legally deal with the person? 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: Sentenced To 24 Years For Being An Atheist. by MaxInDHouse(m): 5:11pm On Nov 14, 2022 |
Maynman: Blasphemy can't be justified again after the Jews scattered! Blasphemy could only make sense if the God in question does something incredible, such a God can impose on the worshipers certain rules that mustn't be broken. For instance the Israelites were slaves in the land of Egypt for centuries until the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob who called them "His people" singlehandedly went there to free them. Logically such a deity has every right to impose His standard on this people now that they are His own property. But is there any as in ANY other god that has done something close to that? So any religion pointing to what the God of Abraham did with the Israelites should provide reasons why their god should demand such from people. Jesus did not impose God's laws on his generation because he knew that such can't be justified anywhere. Therefore instead of imposing what God told Moses (who was one of those that witness the Exodus) Jesus told his own disciples never to impose his rules on anyone {Luke 9:52-56} because such can only be justified when the so called deity has proof of ownership over the people! 1 Like |
