I'm in support of 'no work no pay'.
If the government succeeds in implementing it, I bet you it will be the end of senseless ASUU strikes.

If they are paid, it's like saving for them. They will launch assorted cars while their students suffer.

It's not fair. Let lecturers face the wrath of their actions.

Please suggest a better way to express their grievances and I will upvote it. Before they went on strike, they had exhausted all available means of negotiations including a warning strike. Just as you rightly said, most of the politicians children are schooling abroad, but you're wrong for saying ASUU members children are in private universities, where will they get the money from. It's like you didn't pass thru our educational system here, it's in a poor state.

You are a member of ASUU. I can see that from a mile away. How can ASUU dictate how much they wish their employer pay them? The Government has been tolerating ASUU and their strong head for too long.

Yaradua and GEJ were former ASUU members, yet they couldn't solve ASUU problems. ASUU are just bunch of lazy Lecturers, who are used to getting free money even if they did not work.

FG s doing the right thing.

Let them be advised that if they embark on a ONE DAY STRIKE, their salary for the month of November shall likewise be pro-rated for 29 days and not 30 days that makes up the month. They have the FREEDOM to go on strike but FREEDOM to receive full salary after the strike is not guaranteed

adenigga:
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced that it will embark on a one-day nationwide protest rally over the implementation by the Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government of a “no-work, no-pay” policy for lecturers in the country.
Naija News gathered that the nationwide protest rally would hold at the branch level of the union across public university campuses nationwide, with lectures suspended for the one-day protest.

ASUU members across universities are expected to choose a day within the week to hold a special congress and also go on protest rallies within their campuses.

Recalls that the Buhari-led Government had paid only half salary for the month of October to the public university lecturers, who had been on industrial action for eight months and returned to work on October 14.

Confirming the new directive to Nigerian Tribune on Sunday, the chairman of ASUU, University of Lagos (UNILAG) branch, Dr. Dele Ashiru, said UNILAG-ASUU had fixed Tuesday, November 15, for its own rally.

According to him, the protest rally is to draw the attention of Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora to ASUU’s strong dissatisfaction with the Buhari Government’s attempt at casualization of the academics in the country by using ‘no-work, no-pay policy’ to remunerate them.

While insisting that university lecturers are intellectuals and professionals, Ashiru noted that just as other lecturers in other branches of ASUU would do, all members of ASUU, UNILAG branch, are also expected to attend the congress and participate fully in the protest rally.

He said casualization of academics is totally alien to the academic system globally, adding that the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, wants to prove that he knows more than every other person in the world.

He stated that the Union would show Ngige that his attempt to cage the lecturers, particularly from engaging in unionism, would never come to pass as far as Nigeria is concerned.

If the FG pays ASUU for the 8 months they didn't work, Naira would be devalued further since there was no productivity during that period. And this would increase the inflation rate. FG, be wise.

conua the other faction didn’t declare indefinite strike.

medical doctors strike didn’t last up to one month. ASUU is 8 months going to 9 months

Does it make any difference strike is strike whether 8 months or 2 weeks. They applied the no work no pay rule but paid them after 2 years. BTW what about that senator in prison who was paid millions while in prison for work he didn't do.

Your employer signed an agreement with you which they decided not to fulfill.
Do you think this is right?

Till tomorrow, I still don't know or understand why Nigerians are taking side with ASUU.

ASUU as a union is not considering the students.

The President
The Minister of Education
The Minister of Labour

All their children are not schooling in Nigeria. They're not affected in any way, if you like strike in the next 30 years, e no concern them.

Most of the ASUU members, their children are schooling in private universities.

The lecturers will shut the school against innocent average Nigerians for 8 months and still be feeling entitled, yet average Nigerians are still supporting them undecided

ASUU don dey go strike for ages with no result, and they're still striking. Are there no other better ways to express their grievances? It's only a fool that will be doing same thing over and over again and be expecting different result.
How do you think other government institutions (especially research organizations) are faring under this government?
As they have killed these, some people feel ASUU should also be humble enough to be killed by the same government. Good luck!

Why didn't GEJ pay all the money, since he is a member of ASUU and e knows the importance of what ASUU is demanding? The same ASUU went for strikes over 5 times during GEJ.

ASUU are just greedy and lazy. Give ASUU 20 trillions, they will still go on strike. But thank God, they've met their match. President Buhari is giving them hot hot and Nigerians are happy over this grin
