Which kenyans are flooding Ghana - you mean wode maya girlfriend/wife - and the other lady.

Just40:
Yet Kenyans are the one flooding Ghana for greener pastures because they see Accra as their New York and Ghana as their England for education.

86.6% of Kenyans are if we use the new world bank data on what it takes to be considered a middle class person which is based on a spending of 5.65 dollars a day.

To be above middle class, you have to have a spending of 10 dollars and at this rate, 95% of Kenyans are poor
.

You can check same for Ghana and you'll see why your economy hasn't transformed lives..

At those same rates Ghana has 50% of her population in middle class and at upper class, Ghana has 22% of her population.

It is bad for Kenya to only have 13% of her population in the middle class..

Consult the data here

You can get cheap rice from Uganda and Tanzania in kenya because they bring it duty free.
Only aromatic basmati type of rice is expensive.
And kenyan rice is expensive.
You dont just pick things randomly in Jumia and use it to compare.

CPI - data is collected countrywide - for common rice people consume - non-aromatic plain rice.

Just40:
standard price is 1100kshs

I picked retail prices in your market to compare and that is why I didn't use basmati price of 1900kshs

You're less industrialized than Nigeria. Check our stock exchange and yours. Yours is dominated by service companies like Safaricom.

Thanks, mate. I've always suspected this. Even Ghana with a smaller population is ahead of Kenya here in dollar terms! grin
I live in Nigeria and I Know how much manufactured goods made in Nigeria I see on the shelves of major shops. It's not heavy manufacturing in the real sense but there's almost a Nigerian version of all the foreign goods here. They're small factories everywhere. How a Kenyan could compare Kenyan manufacturing to Nigeria's is beyond me. It's madness.

Nasco alone will be a major company in Kenya.

Yoruba people don't have sense at all, you have turn this thing to ipob matter, but let's talk facts, Nigeria is nowhere to be compared with other developing African countries.

Even Lagos the commercial capital of Nigeria is nothing but a glorified dump, and Don't come and tell me that bullshit that "why do igbos live in Lagos" because the answer to that ridiculous question is simple... Lagos is a commercial capital....igbos are business people...just like you see Chinese in Nigeria and other African countries, does that mean those countries are better that China? Hell No!! But Africa especially Nigeria is a commercial capital. Don't bother replying this comment because I won't read it or reply back.. Yoruba people don't have sense at all ...65years of poverty and your priority is the Igbo man....how dumm can this people be...no seriously it's a valid question...just how dumm

Aswear I wish Biafra was never merged with these people....suffer no dey tire them...they don't know what it means for someone's life to be destroyed, they came to this world to hate people....and white people knew that....that is why they placed them with us... because Yorubas are potential success fighters
grin grin This one is just waking up after 6 years. I can see a desperate little Indian sucking up to him.

are you asking me? Have you seen both capitals ?

Exactly... You can't hide behind empty apartment to claim make noise .... Your power consumption will expose you just like how north Korea look dark and the south is bright. Like the 5 fold difference between Ghana and Kenya power consumption. Accra alone consumes more than half of Kenya power consumption.

That's a 5 fold difference in standard of living ... It's the fact that you guys cannot afford to live in standard properties beyond those slum scrappers

You don't know what you are talking about. Which part of North Korean Capital is better than South Korean Capital?

The thing is Nigeria have small businesses scattered around. I did my service in Anambra, I don't think I saw too many companies but virtually almost everyone there has a small/ medium business, they are either trading or doing small scale manufacturing. Some of these people are counted as unemployed as though they are idle when they are just underemployed.
There are just over 90 million smes in Africa and Nigeria has over 45 million of them.

There are 90 million SMEs (Small and Medium Scale Enterprises) in Africa, forty five (45) of those are in Nigeria. If Nigeria could have 50% of SMEs in Africa even though our population is just 18% and GDP is 18% of the whole of Africa’s GDP, it does tell you that entrepreneurship is a comparative advantage for Nigeria''.

By the time Nigeria's GDP is rebased, some people will call it fake again. They're businesses everywhere. Even in Osun state. I was surprised at the level of enterprise the last time I visited there.

More austerity pain coming in for Kenya..
IMF is recommending an increase in electricity prices, fuel prices, taxes, halfing in health, education and others spending
.

With Kenya failing to pay another 700million dollars in debt making it a total of 1.4 billion dollars of debt carry forward...

Kenya has finally caved to IMF recommendations of handing over KEnya Port to China as a way to be able to pay some of it debts.
Also going to be handed over are, Kenya power, Kenya pipeline, Kenya airways and etc.

The best way to know which country manufacture (truly) - leave what your lying NBS stats body does - is to check 1) taxation and 2) very easily who import finished manufactured goods. That is best way to counter-check. Large manufacturing meaning VAT and such kind of taxes would baloon. This why countries try to become manufacturing giant - because it easy to tax goods, employees etc,

Granted - let us look at who import and export FINISHED Manufactured goods. This you cannot just lie in - because another country has to confirm.

It would be similar to we export 600M dollars worth of aircraft and ships to Namibia smiley smiley
