The consular officer was not convinced that the relationship was bonafide , from your answers, which i felt you did not confidently give ...she felt the relationship was instituted for the sole purpose of having immigration benefits..

You should calmly and confidently explained how you both met on facebook and started talking and falling in love....

It’s just so hard to digest, I can’t Imagine waiting that long and getting a refusal under 5 minutes. So sorry bro.

I was interviewed by the same woman
These were my questions
1. How did you meet ?
2. How did she get to the US?
3. Has she been married before?
4. Does any of us have a child?
5. How many times has she visited?
6. When do you plan having kids and how many?
7. Aside from the police clearance of the two countries you’ve lived in, have you lived in any other country more than 6months?
8. What does she do?
9. Is she living alone?
10. Why was my passport issued in Benin republic?

I tried as much to be calm while answering those questions and she look through the pictures I submitted and return them to me with the white paper.

My opinion is try as much as possible to be calm while responding, it makes you think what your response will be

Another thing I noticed, the circumstance of meeting matters to them, they tend to ask more questions from those who met via social media as against those that met maybe via family and friends or are friends back then in Nija before any of them relocated…

Firstly, Congratulations to you bro!

But This is not the issue of circumstances of how you meet, like he said initially, he wasn’t sure of how they met coz they have been friends 5 years before they started talking. He did not prepare his story or answer well on that coz if he does the consular will have no choice than to believe what he stick to coz she don’t know nothing about how they met so whatever you prepare to say and stick to it with confidence they must believe coz they don’t know your story and they don’t know nothing abt you both except for the information you provided in you petition and some on your social media and on DS-160 you submitted if you have previously applied for US visa.

This is a lesson for everyone, you can meet through a friend or anyone or you knew your petitioner from school or what have you, if you don’t prepare your story or answer well when they ask how you met those guys no get time oo den go deny straight.

People have been meeting via social media for decades and do not have this type of difficulty getting a visa.

Even if you meet through other means apart from social media it doesn’t mean that it can’t be fraud coz some people do it for money and den go bring beneficiary from another country to US so make sure you guide well before you go for interview.

No, let’s not get this wrong. They don’t get denied for meeting on Facebook. What the interviewer looks for is whether you specifically targeted a US citizen for the sole purpose of Immigration

Congratulations to everyone who got approved yesterday. The approvals were massive! There was one Kenyan who asked a lot of questions but he was still awesome with approvals.

Please fam, a brother got there yesterday with his invitation letter and all document but his name was omitted from the entry list. On the login profile, it stated he was scheduled for November 10 still! To cut the story short, he couldn’t do the interview yesterday.

Please, what’s the way forward fam?

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well. My fiancé and I had our interview last Thursday, it went very well the officer said we were approved. Then yesterday we get an email saying they want us to fill our form 5535 and we are on administrative processing. Has anyone had this experience? We are a pretty straight forward case, no age gap, we can have children, have seen each other 5 times in 2 years, really no red flags. The only things I can think of is he is Muslim, but again there is no red flags even with that he only has traveled outside the country with me. Please if anyone has anything to help, I would appreciate it!

Were you given the white paper that explained the collection of your issued visa or you were given (221g) letter after the interview ?

It is not only red flags that makes visa applications go into Administrative Processing, it could be an information they needed to complete your case, it could be a suspicion they need to investigate, it could be anything but most AP ends well when what they needed is provided.

Form 5535 is a form they ask you to fill out when additional information or documentation is needed to complete your interview.

I will fill out ASAP and provide everything they needed then wait for the visa, earliest response earliest visa issuance.

And then still display READY-Your case is ready for interview at the embassy?

2. If no AP or Errors and everything goes well from the interview day, it may take two weeks or 10 working days to issue the visa or less.

afte ur interview it will change for ready- Application received- AP -Issued.. when u login on ur CGI any time u see ready for pick up the embassy to send am to Dhl if Dhl did not send you message but I believe Dhl will send you if not just carry urslf go d office

I mean, if it shows Application Received after your interview and still show Ready for interview in the box under then you don’t have to worry, just keep your fingers crossed and wait for your visa to be issued.

The status was recently updated to "Ready" but I don't know what the previous statuses are. All I know is that It was in "Ready" before the interview but not sure if it changed to another status before going back to "Ready" recently.
