And then we have 'discretionary' bonuses

When we were bought over, the new owners dropped 1m usd as buyover bonus. Our fking exec mgt shared the money among themselves and their crew. One entry level, contract chick who was knacking our oga at the top got 5m. After a lot of hullabaloo, they gave everyone else one month extra salary.

Tomorrow that chick too will say she received a performance bonus on her cv.

Though these are naija stories. But Las Las, they also happen in obodo oyibo.

I have seen people go on mission for over 4 - 5 months and when they return, they start building...The money is like blood money...Imagine going to a location where the DSA is 60k daily and you spend 4 moths there...Most folks will argue otherwise but I encourage them to ask their friends in UN organizations and other international partners...People make mad money in this same Naija and legally too...

The only industry in the world (off the tip of my brain) where women earn more than men, are recognized more than men, and get named before men is the adult entertainment industry.

Even in Yankee, you read about how a-list actresses are offered less than their male counterparts for similar roles

There is a reason all these up and coming starlets are shaking booty in IG. They have been shown the way.

Anyways what do I know?

If you actually read your example with Tinubu's story, you'll know you are comparing apples and oranges.

But its okay...I still understand whatever point you are trying to make

Sai Baba

We need you to addres the issue of one particular tribe ruining our reputation with drug traffiking offences in Asia

Raumdeuter spent years on Nairaland mocking and asking that a particular tribe be jailed for alleged involvement in thedrug trade only to end up campaigning for Tinubu, a drug kingpin himself.

For every insult you direct at Festus Keyamo, give Raum the heat a gazillion times over.

There was a caveat at the end of my post.

I am not defending Tinubu however, I want to put it out that it's possible for one to earn way above their stipulated salaries. It's even crazier when you do tye analogy with the monthly take home of their drivers. In most international organizations where there's enough travels, Drivers rake in more through DSA compared to their net income.

The female celebrities say they get more endorsements and make more money because they have more things to sell like hair, bags, make up kits, body enhancement products e.t.c while for guys there's really nothing to sell.

We all know it's lamba sha. Na so Nengi dey rub range rover in people's faces saying its hardwork only for EFCC to sieze it when the man who bought it for her was being investigated for duping people in a ponzi scheme.

That stated, it confirms all the assertions here that Raum's attack on Obi is hinged on his seething hatred for Obi's tribe. Not dislike but murderous hatred.

The Rwandan genocide fed on the prejudices of people like him.

Nobody said people dont earn crazy bonuses. We are just telling that considering his job role, employer, and time, that is an Oluwole fact.

Let me show you why i said your examples of crazy bonus cant fit with that of BAT

1) You are converting your bonus in naira

Let's peg the dollar at #600

So your friend earns 600k = [$1000 per month]
Daily bonus of 38k = [$63 per day]
Multiply it by 365 days = [$22,995 per year]

So your friend earns $12k + 22k bonus in a year. How is this crazy compared to $20k and $850k a year?

2) Your friend works with a mission. They have to send him out of his station, pay for his allowances, feeding, travelling, and other parts of his welfare

BAT was working for an accounting firm [9 to 5 job], was not a junior partner, and made 850k in bonuses. You can refer to Ibime post and see where he said in 2022, it takes grace for a junior partner to chop 500k bonus sef. But BAT was hitting 850k in 1980

There's nothing crazy about your friends bonus if you stick to dollars that we have been using.

I drop a comment for those who think it's absurd for someone to earn more from other sources other than the expected net income. If you're well informed then fine but don't try to drag me into a non-existent back and forth with you after all, I clearly stated the intent of my post...

If you do the maths for Drivers, you'll be more shocked. I am sure they're quite of lot of folks out there who will be surprised seeing a driver building houses worth millions of naira when his monthly take home is 300k or thereabout...

You post was going to give the BATifieds some kind of comeback, which i just had to nip in the bud.

No vex if you feel dragged grin

Everybody knows there are crazy bonuses.

And for the record, 98.245% of drivers cut corners, steal and short-change their employers. You can verify that too, because i have been there.

So, i can never be surprised if a truck driver earning 80k has built a 10 million naira property.

I am talking about money made legally. For instance, if a driver goes on a mission with the Country rep, they get paid the same amount as DSA...If a driver us out for 3 months, he returns will millions made legally.

I never knew it was possible until I got to the level I am now so, it's fallacious for you to conclude that everyone knows what's up...

You are talking about missions, and i think we addressed that initially

UNHCR calculates your salary or bonus in dollars. So, if they allocate $50 a day for a staff, and it turns out to be 500 million Zimbabwean dollars in his country, its not their business. The money looks crazy here because of the purchasing power, not because it is actually crazy

Your group of drivers are just a small number compared to other drivers. So dey fall under the 2% i reserved.

And yes, 98% of other drivers make their wealth by cutting corners. It is not fallacious. You can go and verify

The easiest way to escape public scrutiny from Nigerians when you show off unexplainable wealth is adding "grace" to whatever caption you use. If you quote a Bible verse, it's sealed - no questions asked.

It is disgraceful that the socalled Obodo Oyinbo people are carrying on this way; very unfortunate cos we all know the truth - but for whatever reason choose be cunning with it - Deloitte na startup? Haba people have gone to extreme length to break down this matter, yet you bring up stuff again to muddle things up, it is clear cut that Tinubu wasnt being truthful, which by the way am Ok with; cos he is not vying to become Pope; $30k Salary; $850k bonus in the 80's does not add up You know that these expenses payment or per diem are capped, there is govt/taxman approved rate - shey we no get accounting folks on the board ni? If someone in Naija is saying this now it is different, cos FX makes it look like huge money...

I get it that we are far removed from the consequences of the disaster that Buhari govt has been; gosh for some of us it might actually be a joke factor like Buhari govt trying seriously hard to give alot of us Billionaire in naira status at rate FX was going which ofcourse is meaningless cos am not normally resident in Nigeria, especially when it detrimental to millions of our folks.

This election means more for those in Nigeria, hence I can sense their anger, we should be mindful of this when serious question of probity or health status is being asked of those they expect to make their lives somewhat better by not making spurrious suggestions or unrelated irrelevant comparison, especially when we have no dog in the fight.

Oga Glorious; just buy jejely apartment for parklane Ikoyi, so no fear of Tinubu & co will revoke your CofO so you can speak your truth grin grin grin.

The money you can make on an adjusted pump meter. Assuming the pump is reading 21 litre for every 20 litres and you are selling 500,000 litres a month - it is money people can be killed for.

This set of women have seen the beauty of money, especially when you don't have to sweat like a bricklayer to get it. It's the very reason they do what they do. In a way, it's the men's fault. You adulate and fawn over slutty women online and expect them not to continue?
I have never liked a post by or about such women, or compliment them in anyway.

If anything offline and online (even away from Nairaland) I troll these artificial entitled women with my full names written on any such account.

When more men shame them and call them the sluts that they are or ignore anything that has to do with them, they'd be less of such women.

Didn't you all fawn over Rokiatu for being slutty on Nairaland while I constantly attacked her for it? In fact, that led to the first face-off I had with Coogar in March 2015 which culminated to his eventual disgrace in November 2015. Let's begin there.
