I got a job offer from NHS to work as a Data Analyst accompanied with Tier2 /sponsorship visa. I currently work as an IT service desk technician in a private company and I must say, it’s wonderful working here (my current company). My boss put in a word for me and the company is ready to sponsor me so they intend to put in an application to the home office to be a sponsorship licensed employer so I can be sponsored. Also, I’ll move to another department to work as a Data Analyst. I really have no Idea how the NHS works but would like to hear from experienced folks. If you were in my shoes, what will you do? all the jobs postings i have seen wanted 30hours plus a week or full time. can someone help out . i stays around Bolton.
i also needs advise on how to enroll my 8 and 5 yr old kids in primary school. i have registered on the Bolton citizen portal but couldn't find the link to enroll or queue for space except link for changing schools.

I have a friend in Bolton, I can ask him cos he's in exactly the situation you are but he got a care / support job that tallies with his schedule

Although I am not in Bolton, it's a similar process across councils and boroughs. You will have to use the option of moving schools during the school year since school places have already closed with the start of the new year in September.

If you have already enrolled on the citizen portal, then I'll suggest you call / email the council. Councils can be slack at times and some pressure /follow up may be required.

Good morning my japa members, my japa journey i most confess has been full of up and down and each time I I feel so Disappointed and discouraged on why did I come here but I can say here is better even though it’s has not been easy. Accommodation (not asking for free) but sometin more better.my wife schools at University of hertfordshire so if I can get sometin within but I won’t mind if it’s far as well as my present place is far as well so I won’t mind and if I can get someone to help on that issue of getting a cash in hand job and any means getting my brp fix I will Still appreciate it .

The lender sells the property, and takes the outstanding amount on the mortgage loan and returns any balance to you less costs of the sale (e.g. agency commissions, that sort of thing).

Bank no fit just flog the property for any amount that covers its own outstanding money. Legally it is required to sell for as close to the current market value as is reasonably possible. E.g. assume you buy a house valued at 100k with a 70k mortgage and your own 30k deposit, and you suppose repay bank 120k. After paying 20k, you default and the outstanding mortgage balance plus interest is 100k. Suppose the value of the house don increase to 150k according to a current valuation. Bank suppose use reasonable effort to sell the house as close to 150k as possible, then they take their 100k, deduct whatever is estate agent or auctioneer or appraiser or related fees, any council tax, ongoing maintenance, repairs made, etc., and return anything left to you.

You can sue the bank if they just hail the property for their 100k or less when its value is higher than that. Of course you go need to gather your own evidence of that, such as recent appraisal, property prices for similar houses in the same area, etc. Reasonable effort na for court to decide, but generally things like how long the property was offered for sale, how it was sold (for instance did they take possession on a given day and sell it the next week, was the property advertised for sale in the way that is customary in the industry, was the buyer an insider/connected party, etc.) come into consideration. Finally, if the bank actually and reasonably does sell the house for less than you owe (e.g you owe 100k and after everything and reasonable effort na 90k bank see from the sale), you are still liable for the remaining 10k and them fit send bailiffs come find you.

Some companies do.
I know some who work in big investment banks in Canary Wharf & in the City of London who get extremely healthy bonuses. Think 10% of your yearly salary in one go every year + other incentives.

Some Public sector companies such as TfL also pay 13 times a year and bonuses are part of their contracts.

If you are just looking for a steady job to relax with a stable income but with little to no Job progression, the NHS is good.

However, my advise would be to just to use such jobs to wet your feet in the UK corporate world. Understand the technology and how it is applied to different sectors, take advantage of any free training available and use the NHS to pay for your professional certifications which will stand out on your CV. Then bounce after 3 years to go IT Contracting..up £500+ per day or apply for investment banking jobs with call for Data Architects, Data Analysts, Data Management, where you can earn around £100k+ base salary easily.

I posted a link to a UK Govt sponsored free skills bootcamp further. The requirements appear to be that one must have the legal right to work in the UK which I assume most in this thread do. If anyone has the brain power to take advantage of these boot camps then please do as they would be highly beneficial and put you in good standing when it comes to applying for Tech roles which pay very well when compared to others.

Also note - there is little difference between the Nigerian civil service mentality and that which pervades the NHS. The same ethos of civil servants doing their job at their own pace, secure in the knowledge that their powerful unions won't allow the government to sack them or rationalise the structure. The ultimate career path would be someone, an average 22-year old for instance, spending like 25 years of their working life in the private sector, making good money, then parachuting into the NHS or a university at a higher grade/or band to spend 10 years and take home a good final salary pension. This happens a lot.

Again, just like it used to be back in Nigeria, civil servants have security, so if you get a job with the NHS, barring any serious issues, you can look forward to retiring there. If one wants security and has no risk appetite, the civil service works.

Not all airlines agree to this .... my motherinlaw was refused by BA, the system didn't allow check in with an expired passport so we couldn't go further but to rebook the flight and sort out the passport

Before NIN i would have said yes offcourse , you can do travel document and travel. It just cost slightly more than passport and it is one time use but I don't know fully of now with nin

I think going to Nigeria is absolutely fine with travel document But how will he come back with expired passport and even in Nigeria now , New passport takes ages to get, so before you do travel documents you need to understand how he returns back
