Danielnino00:I think maybe we should have at least 6 midfielders invited in a 23 man squad and if Aribo would be invited, he probably should be like the 7th midfielder meaning he can float between being part of the offense when needed or play in the midfield if we need to get lots of goals. Then for Ndidi, I hope he regains his form or maybe he should just do like Amartey and move back to the defense. The way Ndidi was yanked off could be one of 3 reasons 1) he was being protected cos he is recovering from injuries 2) a precautionary move because he felt something 3) he was abysmal and got yanked off. Long story short, no reason why the popular midfield trio shouldn't be called up. That said, a tree or even 3 trees would not make a forest, the coach needs to do a thorough review of his tactics and methods. 1 Like |

Joao Felix single handedly destroyed our midfield. His movement and passes were lethal. Ndidi is obviously still yet to regain his good form, no thanks to the constant injuries. I knew this would happen with Leicester choosing to play him in almost every match since he joined them. There was a season where he played every single game for them. Unfortunately, the stress is now beginning to tell. Onuachu impressed me with his link up play. He did well dropping into the midfield and trying to make things happen. Like I've always said, Iwobi is a beast in the middle. That guy is something else. He's always looking up, he's always looking to play progressive passes. Any striker with superb movement will enjoy playing with Iwobi. Bright Osayi did well defensively but not so much going forward. Surprisingly when he did, he won us a penalty. I'm looking forward to seeing him play as a RW(since that is his natural position) with perhaps Aina or Ebuehi as RB. 3 Likes |

Your question is quite on the spot and I will rather choose to answer it this way... Let the best be picked from technical and tactical points of view for the team. When we put these parameters below together against each player, we can tell who got it and who is needed most.... - Ball-playing Nous/Ball Handling IQ - Press resistance (Ability to dribble away from a press, Ability to dribble out of a tight spot, Ability to dribble out of a press) - Lines breaking passing - Progressive passing - Vertically progressive Carries - Tackling - Interceptions - Box to Box - Late runs into the box (sometimes from deep) - Ability to hit strikes from distance. - Ball recycling/Recoveries - Ability to switch plays - Passing range - Workrate - Pressing - Game reading IQ - Set pieces IQ - Spatial Awareness - Vision - Spinal/Quick/Good decision making - General Dribbling *Will add any more qualities I remember. So in the light of the above listed qualities... we can answer truthfully for ourselves. do4luv14: 1 Like 2 Shares |

zuchyblink: The North African league is not a backwater league. I wonder why we underrated players from such a league. Emmanuel amunike and John utaka played there. Remember Mohammed Salah is from the Egyptian league. It is better than all these Latvian and Cyprus leagues our players run to |

zuchyblink: Thanks oohh Zuchyblink. Gracias on this point. Simple Assignment for the house: Abeg browse and see for yourself the leagues the likes of Tarek Hamed, Mahmoud Hamada, Ahmed Tawfik, Ali Gabr, and Moh'd Hamdi ply their trades. Yep, you guessed it. Backwater leagues. Even Trezeguet is in Turkey. Old war horse, Ahmed Hegazy formerly of Semi's team, West Brom is now at Al Itthad in Saudi Arabia. But it is only in Nigeria, that we don't rate players in leagues even more decent than these lots. Once again, Zuchy, thanks so much. 1 Like 1 Share

Let us be honest with ourselves. In the light of the European leagues, it is definitely considered Backwater. But within Africa alone, we all know it is arguably the best league we have on the continent. But the point remains... it is indeed Backwater globally. Philosopher1979: 4 Likes |

TheSuperNerd: Point is there are some leagues in Europe worse than the best African leagues. Leagues like Latvia, Cyprus etc are not as good as the best African leagues. Better to be in Al ahly than to be in soartak trnava in Europe. A good African league can develop our players to world class level. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 5:56pm On Nov 18, 2022 |
True. There are but they are all still classed as Backwater. Is the Egyptian league better than the Turkish League? Is it better than the Ukrainian league? Is it better than the Croatian league? Or even the Greek League? Don't people generally consider Turkey, Ukraine, Greece and even Croatia as being among the Backwater leagues of Europe? Do you see the point now? Bro, the game never start now. Haha! Just wait until the the kickoff, then we’ll see who’s who. Do you think that Egypt can defeat Belgium in a real match? Right now, all the teams going to the World Cup are taking it easy to avoid unnecessary injuries. O pari TheSuperNerd: |

No wahala. It is true that Belgium went a bit soft today. But still, I cannot but notice that the Egyptian backline isn't even their first choice Backline. Yet Belgium fell. It is well. When WC begin, your eyes on Cameroun go clear. I think Ghana would even do a bit better than Cameroun but both are going home after the first round. Time will tell. Icon79: 1 Like 1 Share |

TheSuperNerd: Cameroon does not do well in the world cup. Ever since Italia 90 they have not gotten out of the group stage. They just can't compete at the world stage that we'll. They will draw 2 matches and loose one. The African teams that do well on a global stage are Nigeria Ghana Senegal Morocco Nigeria has gone past the group stage of the world cup 3 times. And I think we have most wins and goals. At our best we know how to compete on a global level 1 Like |

Actually, I totally agree with you. Between you and me, I don’t expect Cameroun to do well because they have a tough draw. Brazil, Serbia, and Switzerland are all top teams. In addition, as a coach, Rigobert Song is just a poor man’s Austin Eguaveon. But watch out, they will put up a better fight than those North African sissies . O pari TheSuperNerd: |

One of those North African Sissies, although not WC-bound, just beat Belgium and did so without their strongest Midfield and without their first choice Backline. Like I already said, I am all for Morocco's brand of football which I admire. It doesn't matter if they cross the first round or not. But I reckon they will fare better than Cameroun in terms of performance and actual plays. Icon79: 2 Likes |

As Issa Hayatou bagged his 1.5m bribe and their Amos Adamu and co, a part of me want to believe Cameroon may see KO stages, even if that is highly possible. I want to give Hayatou the benefit of doubt that his beloved red and greens under Eto'o were part of his bribery deal with dem Qatar. |
