Hello house, I intent immigrating to Canada through the study route and I have already gotten admission into one of the polytechnics. Now, I am in a moral quagmire, I have no intent of returning to my home country after studying and I know if I tell that to Immigration it will affect my study visa application. And I don't want to tell lies. What can one do in such a situation?

Over 90% of those applying for student visa in Canada also have no intent of going back. It is not technically a lie, cant be proven its a lie and what of you changed your mind during your studies to stay. Abeg this one no be issue lol

I don't think you have to worry about that. Immigration officials are aware that many people want to stay back in Canada after studies. After being here for close to 20 years, I know less than 5% of the international students that return to their home country after studies. When you apply for study permit, it is always with dual intent. So, the question the official should be asking is that will you leave Canada if your application for permanent residence is refused.

1) If you tell the VO the truth of not returning it will affect your visa......YES
2) You don't want to lie.......very funny.

Be truthful to yourself and face the reality you have to LIE....and back up your lies with solid evidence that you will return otherwise risk facing visa rejection. 98% of Canadian students will prove to the VOs that they will return and many won't

Okay look at it at this angle why is Canada government issuing Permanent Residence to students after graduation and PGWP. why didn't the government send them to their home country immediately. Canada needs you as much as you need them.

Yea. I have been wondering about the PGWP too if actually they intend that you go back home after graduation. I think they are asking for it for two reasons. One is it to assure themselves that in worse case scenario that the student will return home. And the other is to appear not to be poaching international students to boost their workforce

Nope. I actually didn't know until I asked questions and made research online. Canada.ca and other immigration sites were helpful in that respect.

Telling immigration officials on your visa application that you don't want to leave after your education will help them make a very fast decision on your application, and the answer will be "NO” because your intention signifies that you will not obey the conditions of your visa.

Dual intent is present when you make application for temporary visa because you can in the future decide to make application for PR. But in the meantime you are expected to meet the requirements for temporary visa which includes convincing the VO that you will leave Canada at expiration of your permit.

Since you don't intend returning and you don't want to lie, state it clearly in your SOP that you do not intend returning home or just leave the home tie section blank and let the embassy do the thinking for you
