Hi guys,

I wanna buy a new phone, but all i can think of is buy the cheapest Samsung Galaxy that would fit my need. I am buying a new phone because my Samsung has spoiled since last year, but I still use it that way. But presently,its affecting alot of things and its time for me to get a new phone. Many people can't reach my WhatsApp line and I have the habit of missing calls unworried .

My plan is to buy same phone model, but can't seem to find it. Then I saw a new one which is also good which I plan to purchase. I went online to buy and I saw a trade in of my phone that would get me a more expensive one for a cheaper price(800) which the original price is $1200.

My friend just got a new Samsung phone as well which is very slick and she has been telling me to buy it. I have 3people on my neck including my family members telling me to get a good phone.
The problem I have is, I don't know why I should buy an expensive phone, I don't know why people buy it.
I would justify the purchase of iphone due to its good Camera but I don't wanna buy iphone because I believe the company is a rip off, and I do not support ripoff companies and now the Samsung my friend got is same price with iphone 14.

I don't take pictures with phones and I don't use picture social media likewise my friends that purchased iphones and the newest Samsung,they don't use social media but still went ahead to buy expensive phone

Note*I can purchase anyphone including iphones. But I sincerely don't have justification to waste money.
So please,why do people purchase expensive phone aside the slick appearance?

Sounds like you’re content with something that just does basic tasks which is fine, some people utilise their phones for additional things or just opt for ‘luxury’ which is fine also.

Some pple buy expensive phone for show off, which their main aim is for receiving & calling.
Why the onces that buy for quality camera is for fbk & WhatsApp or probably tick-tock.
Some pple that uses sophisticated phones don't even use 10% of the capacity of the phone.

Only reason why I'm changing my Redmi Note 5 pro is cos I need the NFC feature on newer versions to access an important app and the old one has battery issues.

If you are broke,it doesn't mean you should lash your anger on people, your life would stich up with time, you just need to work smarter and harder and pray some more. I'm sure you will soon be able to afford a meal. Everyone had a bad period, I was in your shoes 10years ago, I could hardly afford my meals but with dedication, perseverance,hardwork,smart work, I've gotten to a beautiful level in life and I'm still going higher. They buy expensive phones because they can afford it.

I was using an expensive phone before until it got spoilt, and the price to repair it cost more than the price of a brand new Tecno Camon series. I bought a new Camon 19 pro immediately after my phone spoilt, and the apple store repair the phone since it was still under warranty.

Then I realize that I don't even need those expensive phones. My Tecno does everything I want since I am not a heavy user. Only the camera quality comes shot compared to iPhone, but I didn't miss my iPhone at all. After it has been repaired, I just left it at home. Only used it for pictures, but my everyday phone now is Tecno. If the Tecno gets spoilt, it is cheap and won't cost a lot to repair.

if you are not a heavy user and do not define your worth with a phone, then get a cheap Tecno phone. It will do everything you want, the camera is decently okay, and it's cheap. If it gets spoilt, you won't have a heart attack. Or do like me, buy two. Expensive for outings/impressing people who take you seriously because of your phone, and for a photoshoot.

Phones in the west are not that costly, even there's ease in payment when you buy phone there .
have seen Note 20 ultra brand new on eBay recently . price was around $560 . we that are in Nigeria are suppose to be the one complaining not you .

I remember when the Samsung Galaxy S4 came out new, very expensive, 100k, I bought it. Though it served me well and it lasted. After about 3 years it became obvious that I had to change the phone, but money no dey again. I bought Gionee M5 mini dual sim phone.
I realised that everything I could do with my S4 I could do with Gionee which is a budget phone. (I had my epiphany) I regretted throwing away 100k for a high-end phone.
My current phone is Nokia 5.3 a budget phone.

Phone na phone. So far as it is doing what you expect it to do, you are okay.

I strongly recommend you buy a Nokia phone. Nokia phones come with stock android, ie Android as Google intended. You would not find all the crazy useless apps that you would not use on the phone.

A phone is a phone, so far as the phone is doing what you expect it do, you are okay. People who buy expensive phones either have money to burn or they want to show off.

True. Even these expensive phones depend on human needs to feel superior to others to make sales. iPhone deliberately made its phones so expensive, that it has been hardwired into people's psyche that an iPhone/macbook means you are not in the class of peasants.

And people fall for it. But anyways, na their wahala be that. As for me, no more heart-attack when my phone is lost or stolen, it cost less than 200 hundred dollars, and my pics and delicate files are not there but saved in the iPhone at home. So no fear of theft or spoilage anymore.

When I buy an item, I buy it because it’s what I want, not because of what people will think.
I’m on my 3rd iPhone. I have my personal reasons for using them. They are easy to use and the software and interconnectivity with my iPad and MacBook is seamless.
I often hide the Apple logo because I don’t even want people to know I’m using one.
I do realize that not everyone likes iPhones or the Apple brand entirely, and that is ok.
I’ve used Andoud phones before, and I disliked every moment I used them.
