The Yoruba Community in Anambra State, at the weekend, coronated the third Oba of Awka, Alhaji Abdul Olahan, popularly called Ezechinedu, (Leader led by God) by his admirers.

Before him were Oba Owolabi I and Oba Oseni II whose transition took place about a year ago. The new Oba, who has spent 68 years in Awka, was barely two years when he was brought to Awka by his late mother, Alhaja Afusat Olahan, to join his late father, who was a tailor, Hamzah Olahan, from Ede town, Ede North Council of Osun State.

Speaking after his coronation, the new king assured that the Yoruba ethnic group would continue to remain peaceful and supportive of the government at all levels. The renowned fashion designer, fabrics and estate management entrepreneur pointed out that the new position is an added responsibility on him to lead, with God’s wisdom, to resolve issues, as well as bridge gaps between people who disagree.

No noise
No threats
No insults
No one is reminded that he is being "accommodated" by a very benevolent "host"!
They coronated abi ordained their Oba and the governor without wasting any time, has assured them of his support.
No one at Awka feels threatened.
Everyone has moved on as they should..

Compare this to the howling and wailing that accompanied the enthronement of the Eze igbos in western Nigeria. In Akure, the guy there was physically attacked!
The Obas for whatever reason feelt threatened
The Lagos State government went ahead to issue threats and promised not to recognize any other stool apart from that of the "owners of the land". It was as if it was a challenge.
Hungry serfs were all over the blogosphere as usual threatening the igbos for having the temerity to elect a traditional head in Yorubaland.
"You don't respect your host, you are arrogant, bla bla bla bla"

It's a sign of insecurity! A morbid fear of a people. Hate!
Uptill today the Emir of Kano recognizes the leadership of the igbos in Kano. He knows that he is secured in his throne and can not be chased away by one Eze igbo! Those who feel threatened by the socalled Eze ndigbos are nothing but generational cowards always afraid of their shadows..

Jobless because employed persons don't have time to pocknose in others biz. Liars because you guys lied that other tribes cannot live in the east...

The bolded should be corrected to reflect the proper thing. It should be 'Oba of Yorubas in/of Awka' and not 'Oba of Awka'. Every other thing is in order. Every group of people can elect or ordain their leader anywhere without the host having any fear as long as the title reflects the jurisdiction of such a leader.
It has always been 'Ezendigbo in Kano, Kaduna, Lagos, Akure etc which shows his scope is only among Ndigbo. The cities under reference are not in any way threatened. Only fearful and paranoid people see such as a threat.
