And what will be your job in Nigeria to enjoy the banana island and still have a savings of about 20k dollars in 3 years. Mind you he never said what he is doing for a living there in Canada that he was able to save about 20k dollars, it might be the same work that can't even feed you for a month here in Nigeria. Very simple if he doesn't like there let him come back, after all he pays bills there in Canada and still enjoy the dividends of the bills he pays, this month I can count how many times electricity was restored by the same power holding company that comes every month with bills.

Every one on earth knows Canada is better to live in than Nigeria presently. No one wishes to run away from home if not for bad economy. So... What is the op or what ll you do to cure such loneliness in Canada. The person ll keep trying to make friends. Anyone that works even if it's relationship with opposite sex.

The problem with Nigerians feeling lonely abroad comes from the fact that we refuse to integrate into the western culture…. Many of us are use to seeing entertaining things from the prism of going out to malls, going to bear joints, eateries to eat and snap pictures with boyfriends. Abroad there are many entertaining things like reading club, cycling clubs, hiking, going to gym. Swimming… learning new languages. Going on road trips. Vacationing. Many spots and social events. How many Nigerian wants to visit museum to entertain him or herself. Some Nigerians abroad are also feel very inferior. They find it hard to break into the social circle of white folks or black folks born over there. I was born and raised in Nigeria but I can tell you that at work I am the groove man. If I am going on annual leave some of my colleagues won’t stop texting asking when I will be back at work. They will even have a house party at mine on the 16th of December. Most Nigerians abroad do not know how to propose leisure activities to their western counterpart.

Nobody knows his job or living habit and he can't use his own life to judge things. Some save more than that while some don't. This life, you sleep on what you lay.

I work with an international organization in Nigeria. Left Canada few years back. And I will tell you now that while healthcare isn't really strong in Nigeria, you can have access to doctors, nurses and health centre easily more than you can in Canada. It's also cheap. Some people prefer to fly home for surgery because of the expense.

I'm also currently in Canada for a conference. Need I tell you I can't even wait to leave already by next week.

Firstly, I apologise for the few typo errors committed in my previous post. I was actually doing a few things simultaneously while typing with less concentrations. All that had been corrected already.

Like you said, different strokes for different folks. If you're working over there but can't earn reasonably after tax and enough to take care of yourself and family comfortably, you need to think twice. I'm not saying people who chose to remain there aren't making it but to what extent? Those who came back without achieving their ends...do you know why? Can you share the experience of anyone you know so we can dissect the matter more.deeply to ascertain the root cause? There are opportunities here for those who can look beyond their nose. I know how many times I paraded the oil and gas and government institutions trying to sell my ideas to them before I had that breakthrough. Some could do a little push and get tired. I was left with virtually nothing cos i was always spending on prospecting. I drank gari for months but I never relented cos I knew my worth. How many can go that far? Now, they are the ones looking for us.

If you see an American investor doing well, somebody your mate, you should feel challenged, instead of choosing to feel comfortable working for him. Lifting people out of poverty has always been paramount in my thoughts. I can't be struggling over there, working for someone and think I can make this happen.

I once cited the example of one of my uncles who came home from Atlanta in the 90s. What he brought home made him billionaire today. When the atm revolution erupted in Nigeria the CBN authorized all the commercial banks to embrace his products. Google Xantrex Engineering for details. He's the only distributor of their products in Nigeria and some Africa countries today. The market over there is saturated already. There's nothing virtually new you'd want to introduce in America for instance, which someone else had not tried. But here back home, such ideas might be nonexistent then, they become opportunities.

Some people has never experience what it means to be lonely, depressed and unhappy with life even if you are surrounded with the so called amenities that we crave for.If you have lived abroad before, you will understand what the op is saying. I believe most people have heard about Billionaires committing suicide, has it ever occurred to you why som1 with everything that you dream of decides to take he's life. In life, you will get to a point where all that matters is your Peace of mind. Every country has its own peculiar challanges.

No one tells about the downside of this place. I feel lonely, depressed and empty most times. Because no one to talk to, just everyone in my workplace goin about their business. If I make attempt to talk to them, they just waive it with a smile. It's been 3years here and the people I still talk to on video call are friends from Nigeria. It's been 3years and my savings is still Short of $20k despite how much my friends in Nigeria do tell me how easy it is for me to make money abroad but I never tell them my situation. I can't wait to make enough and leave Canada for good. I know a lot will come at me with the usuall "come back to Nigeria na", please this is not an attempt to denigrate your abroad heaven, just for me to rant out and be fine

Why are you people soo greedy? You want to stay there and enjoy the benefits alone! Why create this topic to discourage your fellow Nigerians from relocating. Why not quietly come back or go to another country if you don't find the place condusive.

There's actually no place like home. I quite agree that some people are prepared to make the sacrifice of relocation but if most people had the benefit of hindsight they wouldn't have relocated.

From my experience, if you are not into partying/clubbing, womanizing and other ungodly acts, 'abroad' will be a very boring and lonely place.

Yes, the environment is neat and fascinating but after living there and seeing all the beautiful places for even as little as three months, they loose their charm.

The best option is to go there on vacation. May God bless Nigeria and make it a place of pride for the citizens.

I think one reason being- people underestimate the value of community. The new world order is trying to undermine the essence of communities and is pushing everybody to "not give a fvck about what others " but in reality, our Psyche is very reliant on "having others around." life can become difficult and frustrating when one feels no sense of belonging. Who knows? Maybe we would evolve to become less communistic, but i wonder what problems that could bring.

This is very true. I have a family friend who returned to Nigeria to have surgery for breast cancer and returned back abroad for follow up care. It’s been over 6years now and she is very fine. Health Care in Nigeria is affordable and cheap eventhough it’s not the best yet. But there are a lot of good private hospitals now doing very well eventhough it’s a bit out of reach for the common Nigerians.

Nigeria is bliss only if you are among the rich and elites. And in this country with 133m living in poverty, that shows you that you're not likely to get that bliss.

Yes, it's expensive and you don't need to tell me but people still afford it. It's unwise to use that as a measure!

I'd rather pay for it than have billions in Nigeria and likely die due to unavailability of ambulance or first aid.

I have visited Canada lots of times and just hates it there. Too depressing, boring, freezing cold and dark. Snows everywhere like huge heap of sand, and people hardly mix.

Just get the passport and leave. But to call it your permanent home, you must be one hell of a kind of a person.

What you are experiencing is the price for the trade-off. The pros and cons of abroad life.

Way back in 1986-87, I know one brother like that, who came back home from America and say he can never stay in that kind of environment. After School, he came back home and all of us think him mad.

The reason he gave is laughable. He drinks a lot and he said he is sure that one day he is going to be shot. We asked him why, he said when he is drunk in Nigeria, he can afford to go knocking on the wrong Door for as many times as he possibly could without any fear of being shot at but he dare not do same in America. So, he came home.

So, like someone said, know why you are there, work towards it and try and come back home

I don't know what you mean by getting medical care immediately. There are hospitals with ambulance facilities in ikoyi and VI that people access in 15 mins or less than.

A governor had a plane crash and he was first treated in Nigeria before being flown out. Same for the president's son.

I don't know about Akeredolu being treated for malaria while he had covid. He should blame his physicians and not the Nigerian health system. Covid came with its peculiarities. Kyari got covid in Germany and not Nigeria. One wonders why they didn't detect it and give him the necessary treatment there before he left.
Buhari didn't access his favorite UK medicals for over a year during covid and nothing happened to him.
Yes. Nigerian healthcare is comatose but it is not presently as bad as you're painting it. Especially for the elites. They're just used to traveling out for medicals and are not prepared to change it anytime soon.

The governor ended up dying and that could even happen to anyone abroad because of the severity of the case. Buhari's son was flown abroad and before that, he had access to the best medical team in the country, which were to only stabilize him before flying him to Germany! Why didn't they do the surgery in Nigeria even with their best team?

Akeredolu should blame his physician and the health care system for churning out professionals without having proper provisions for them to function well. A health care system that lacks adequate infrastructures. Can even Buhari use the National Hospital? No! Resident doctors, consultants, medical students are always on strike and you expect the best of health?

Abba Kyari got COVID in Germany when the pandemic was about to start, it wasn't a global issue then. When it became a global issue, all countries shut down travels and the leaders in this despot called Nigeria couldn't travel, hence the reason Abba died!

Buhari most likely had COVID but we might know because the leaders in this country are used to keeping everything a secret. Also, even if he didn't have it, he is a President and his safety and health are paramount, so it's not anything special!

The heath care is as bad as I painted it! Go to the clinic and see how people die daily due to negligence, unprofessionalism, etc. In Nigeria, if you're taken to the clinic for emergency, you won't be attended to unless you make a deposit. That's how bad it is!
