Some people here don't understand the magnitude of what's happening.
As it is now many doctors will be working thru out the week.

Registrars will be doing alternate day calls.

House officers don't want to do residency in Nigeria again.

I know many colleagues that av ventured into marketing medical related products etc.

Money will be repatriated back frm outside and government cannot even think of using it to help oir universities, pay teachers, help the police and doctors.

The health system is no different from the education system. You can't subsidize the rates of training in these sectors and not expect it to affect manpower renumeration. What do we expect when someone is trained for close to free?

We need to start with a better package pay for our health workers and Lecturers. After which we increase the cost of their training. Then we can have different bodies like NMA, hospital board, government, private sector etc give student loans. With conditions of practicing a minimum of 7 years in Nigeria after specialization or however long it will take to payback the loan.

Not only Doctors are migrating. Young Graduates youths are migrating. You will suffer to go to University and then finish to find no good job.

Then the government comes out to say "Nigerian Youths Are Lazy".

Very soon, all the young vibrant youths will leave to countries that are willing to give them jobs.

Many of those you see around are auxillaries.
Nothing can replace or be compared to surgery(MD), besides,other medical professionals like pharmD, radiographers , OD's etc are also emigrating.

The immigration is for good. They are going to learn modern healthcare methods and will later come back. Win win
