The game is not about whose first time coaching... It's about the players playing on the field and whether they have played together before competitively to know each other way if playing.

When you're defending, it's a very difficult thing to make that transition and again your opponent can use the open spaces you've left to punish you.
The coach plan worked except for the transitions to catch Portugal on the counter offensive which A.Ayew couldn't make because he didn't have speed and we didn't concede in the first half of the game, that is a plus for Ghana because it would have killed spirit.

Your Midfield couldn't even recycle the ball that well to create opportunities for vertical transitions. So your Midfield was empty in that first half. All you guys did was hold the ball and kick it out or lose it almost immediately and swiftly regroup for another Defensive phase in-game.

So whatever you call Addo's plan wasn't even much of a plan because he didn't even plan to attack them in that half. He didn't risk it. His goal was to keep Portugal off the scoreboard and trust me, that is not rocket science.

In our WC qualifier, only Osimhen was running riots, the rest were strolling like abeg e nor concern us. But you see the Ghanaians, everytime they play, they play like it's do or die. Until we have that same mindset, we go nowhere.

One of the African team in this WC will win the next afcon. Unless we shake up our team. We have no chance.

Rohr was just a terrible coach. I don't think it had anything to do with playing entertaining football. At a point, Rohr's tactics were looking more like the typical Nigerian's. . I mean if that's the best we could get, why not go pick a local coach, at least I know what I am getting, even though there's that hope that one of them turns out to be the odd one.

To Understand why we must insist on better for the SE, look at Brazil today... got the result but there are questions.

The Super Eagles have a fine pool of talented players, some of which form the present core of the team and some of which are yet to be properly integrated into the team.

On our day, even with the issues we currently parade as a team, we can produce really fine moments of football down majorly to individual brilliance of the talents on display.

But you see, outside the administrative brouhaha, we have 2 major issues with our team:

▶️- A coaching problem.

▶️- A Playing Personnel Problem based on Tactical-Technical balance as a team.


When I speak about our midfield and defensive issues, and most especially our midfield, I do it knowing for a fact that addressing it thoroughly will lead to positive changes in our plays from A-Z, from defence to attack.

There is magic we can produce if we pick right from thoroughly tactical and technical standpoints with respect to how we can play and how flexible we can become across various tactical formations.




Look at Brazil today, they won and their goal was special. But are they satisfied? Are they feeling invincible after today's result? Answers to both is NO.

All over social media, several of their brightest and staunchest analysts and followers of brazillian football are saying Tite is doing them a disservice by sticking with "Conservative" Fred instead of Bruno Guimaraes from the start.

With Neymar, their first XI is a balanced one. Casemiro pairing Paqueta in midfield and Neymar roaming in front of them as a free playing CAM.

Once Neymar got injured, Tite had a decision to make and it seems he reverted to his Conservative selection, one which makes Brazil fans and analysts feel really disoriented coz they feel Tite isn't being honest with the selections especially with respect to the balance of their plays. And I agree with them. Bruno Guimaraes offers more going forward than Fred. He is far more forward thinking from midfield than Fred.


Now Fred today is even a better midfield player on the ball than our highest rated midfield player in Europe, Wilfred Ndidi but look at how he is being rightly analysed as the man not suited to start in Brazil's XI in Neymar's absence alongside Paqueta and Casemiro.


My point is this: Brazillian fans, analysts and keen followers are not satisfied despite their win today. They know how they should play. They know the level their team can operate at. They noticed a drop in their intense creative plays.

This is the same mindset with which I analyse the Super Eagles. I know how better we can be if we pick right and if we are coached right.

It is not always about results. It is first about having and establishing that team balance from tactical and technical standpoints.

Achieve that and the results will follow in the long run.

We are in this for long term success not short term hypes.

Right now, we are just a team of players picked because one plays in Serie A and another in the EPL. Noooo... it should be beyond that. We should be a team of tactically-synced warriors and technically balanced-oriented players, brains and brawns in perfect mix led by a truly tactically flexible mastermind.


In time, I hope we can get it right and stop deluding ourselves.

First of all the national team is not where you learn anything the time is very limited and too short.

You are selected because of what you already have from your club and league where you play day in day out all season long. This is where you spend 99% of your footballing life .

So if you haven't learned in your club you will not learn it in the short time you have in the national team.

A good cosch will look at individual player attributes, experiences, capacity and ability then fuse turn into a team with a clear cut strategic vision and plan.

Our football academies are producing players everyday.
So we won't lack quality players.
We just need a good coach and we will be alright.
If we lacked quality players then I will be scared. We just have to get over this coaching issue.

Yes I do agree that we shouldn't look at things from a short term perspective. That said, football is short term for most players especially in the NT. Players lose form, get old or get career ending injuries. Yes we do have issues with our midfield and defence but my belief is that a good coach would be able to use the current regulars we have to achieve good results. And to Addo, yes, he plays negative football, but because of the short-term nature of the sports for both coaches and players, short term gains and results speak extremely loud!!! The Greek team that won the Euros way back then making little Ronaldo cry, played negative football but that feat alone is etched in history for the Greeks. Chelsea played negative footie when they won their champions league but that didn't diminish the ecstacy the agbero attracting club felt.

Na lie. Nigerian football is drab, too slow and lacking in energy. We make too much noise and then end up going only so far as the 2nd round. If we had qualified, there's probability that we'd be knocked out first round. I'm not being negative. I'm speaking from a historical point of view. For all our noise, we do not have a great world cup record.
