So Nigeria's GDP is 38x that of Equatorial Guinea...interesting. Meanwhile, our population is 144x theirs (218m vs 1.51m). That implies that their GDP per capita is much higher than ours. NaijaphiliaBlog: |
Re: World’s Longest-serving President Wins Re-election by NaijaphiliaBlog: 10:44pm On Nov 27, 2022 |
JapaNinja: Yes, you are right: Nigeria's GDP per capita = 2,400 US Dollars. E/Guinea GDP per capita = 19,200 US Dollars. This is because of Equatorial Guinea's very tiny population vs its oil wealth. It used to be one of the poorest countries in Africa but the discovery of large oil reserves in 1996 (and their subsequent exploitation) have led to a dramatic increase in government revenue. |

GardenOfGod: You are wrong. When he was governor nobody in his family was in any position. He brought igbo man and hausa to his cabinet. Shidren of hate stop telling lies. Tinubu developed Lagos. GDP of lagos is more than 5 times Equitorial Guinea despite their oil. Lagos is fastest growing economy in Africa. That cannot be a result of nepotism. Its a result of hard work and getting the right people do the job. That’s what Tinubu is known for. |

Obiang is a typical power crazed African dictator who would rather die in power if he can help it This is a guy who overthrew and executed his own uncle to get to power Despite the huge oil and gas wealth of the country, most of its people live in abject poverty while Obiang and his cronies live like kings. |

JapaNinja: Equitorial Guinea's population is smaller than that of Bayelsa State, which has the lowest population among Nigerian states = 2.39m as at 2019. (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nigerian_states_by_population ) |
