elyte89: Exactly. Anytime we get to talk about football, we always put the 1994 team as the standard, while growing up we even thought that team won the world cup the way it was always glorified. I think people glorify just because it was our first world cup. Sport administration in Nigeria is a farce. It is just a thriving black market. 3 Likes 1 Share |

TheSuperNerd: What’s the long term plan ? Recruiting abroad born players or promoting homebase players to the national team and they’ll do well and sign to a back water league and we’ll never hear of them again. This way still keeping this same core of failure since 2017 bunch of failures for over a decade now and you dare to say we’re making progress? Or we have plans for the future. We change coaches every other day, our boys only trained together 3 times or less in a year, before you know the team sheet is switched again and they’re playing against new faces. There’s no long term plan with super eagles, what we’re doing is mixing the young and bright stars together to form a golden generation there’s no backup plan aside from that na 1 Like |

typicalgamer: That doesn't show why they qualified ahead of the S.E... You're like many others on this thread are under-estimating how strong African countries are and how strong the top 15 CAF teams are.. most of the teams that have faced African countries have struggled to get results and work really hard to get anything from the match.... African teams just have to work on their strikers and chance creation opportunities.. This world cup has shown me that African teams are strong and only poor coaching is holding them back... 1 Like 1 Share |

codemaniacs: I think you really lack knowledge, understanding and insight. That proposition is essentially nonsensical. I want you to compare the level of coaching, support staff (sports science) not, defensive and offensive specialist coaching staff add that to the high quality of even world class managers that some of our players are exposed to for many seasons. And now tell me what Salisu, Eguavon and co are going to teach them in two weeks compared to Thier clubs. Remember you said, A LOT OF THINGS. 2 Likes |

komekn: Players in the national team change from time to time... so it can be like going to a new club every international break so the coach has to teach his players to get to know each other and work together... In Nigeria's case.. I don't think they interact that much or even train on formation, corners, free-kicks, penalties e.t.c and that's because the arrogant behavior of Emmanuel Dennis towards the other players should have been noticed off the pitch.. and that behavior also shows that NFF thinks like you... just gather players from what you call the "top leagues" and put them together and expect a magical result without teaching them a lot of things... I won't be surprised if you are an NFF staff or one of the people NFF listens to for advise because the way you comment only someone that's exhibits Emmanuel Dennis level of arrogance can make such comments.. |

komekn: Why are you so quick to tag people as lacking understanding. A little patience to discern ideas conveyed by others will not hurt. Every exposure both on the club or national platforms are opportunities for immense growth. On national platforms, players get the privilege of exposure to different philosophies and approaches to the game not just from the coaches, but also from fellow players. this is so good even to the point of players picking up new techniques from coaches and fellow players. In the match against Portugal, did you notice the instruction Paul Onuachu gave to Bassey. 1 Like |

The Portuguese Federation are going to present evidence to FIFA to prove that the first goal against Uruguay was Cristiano Ronaldo’s not Bruno Fernandes. Source: El Chiringuito TV See pettiness at it's peak. I wonder what must be going through Bruno's mind right now. The fake GOAT was even gesturing at the officials after half time asking why he goal was not awarded to him. 1 Like |

Ogochuks101:Stop mixing things up. Getting to the Quarter final is quite different from having the best performance. Football is not schooling. You can have the best performance yet lose while you can play rugby and negative Football to win. Understood! Many Commentators across different countries will tell you that the best performance by any African team is by Nigeria at 1994 World Cup. Did you listen to African commentators during this World Cup? None of them even mentioned Cameroon 1990 as one of the best African performances. All mentioned Nigeria's 1994 and 1998. |

I suspect it might be a parody news setup but even if it was true FIFA has a microchip in all the balls that can sense touch and they have confirmed there was zero response from the ball once it went past Ronaldo's head. andrewbaba44: 1 Like |

fabyom:I'm gobsmacked. In 98 we were eliminated by Denmark who did not go beyond the quarter finals after being beaten by Brazil. In 2002, we did not go beyond the first round. In 2010, we did not make it beyond the first round. In 2014, we were eliminated in the second round by France who in turn were ousted in the quarter final. In 2018, we did not make it beyond the first round. So how can you boldly make such a claim at the bolded when it only happened once in 1994? It appears that you look at our world cup history with fantastic eyes ooo. Our outings are mediocre and consistently poor! 2 Likes |
