Detained for 12 days for not being able to answer detailed questions about his course. Is this one of Suella's ways of reducing number of international students? https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/nov/26/treated-like-a-criminal-nepali-student-wrongly-detained-at-uk-border-loses-uni-place

This thread has been overtaken by the same topics and the same questions for far too long. It has lost its intentions and appeal maybe a different thread needs to be created to answer most of these visa issues. This is just my personal observation. 3 Likes |

JustJoy0717: Message her politely (just because you said 'challenge' - make you no go offend your helper ) with a coherent, succinct summary of the points you want to make and then link to the Home Office guidance documents (and if possible cite specific sections). This is because your message may likely be forwarded to a 'higher-up' manager who'll have less time sifting through long messages or documents. Most of these people (unless they are in HR) aren't familiar with these things and once you make it clear it's quire straightforward, they'll typically be more amenable. Best of luck. 1 Like |

Rubyventures: Lool, well, I didn't see any deviation from the topic. I understand that the current conversation may not interest many of us, but I think it's definitely within "life of an immigrant in the UK", I may be wrong. If a "better" topic comes up, we'd all be sure to jump in if we can. If you think it's too specialised, you can ask the mod to create a new thread for "switching visas" and "career conversations" but till then, you may have to "manage". 2 Likes |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Solumtoya: 11:02am On Dec 01, 2022 |
The reason why this is a hot topic is because Tens of Thousands of people have their Tier 4 Visas expiring in January. After January, it'll subside. Also, this thread is like an encyclopedia, almost all other issues have been addressed so no need of repeating them. After these career conversations, people can always refer to them in future too. We've had lots of modules : IPTV, Cars, Housing, Credit Card, Weather, Banking, etc. I guess this is the module on "NHS Career Visa Sponsorship" 14 Likes |

Hello House, How can one scale the hurdle of getting second proof of address and 1 proof of identity. Banks/Jobs are all demanding for these and it's becoming frustrating. I'm barely 5 weeks in town and all I have is NIN mail from DWP and BRP. I'll appreciate guide/suggestions. Thanks, |

Maturedhustler: The bolded applies to just children. If you are claiming discount on dental treatment and prescription glasses, it's 100 percent public forms. It's even clear whilst completing the applicable forms. Scottish child payment is also public funds. No, those on post study cannot claim public funds. Why the fascination and desperation about claiming public funds?? As someone as rightly pointed out, these benefits are for the most vulnerable in the society. Genuine advice: work on building your career and earning capacity rather than chasing stipends in the name of public funds. 1 Like |

eniola1010: People also need to remember that no employer is under any obligation to do anyone's bidding. Let's just be open-minded about these things, if any employer refuse to sponsor visa, kindly move on. I was on the verge of landing an NHS Band 8 job but for visa sponsorship. There are costs associated with this thing hence most employers give funny reasons not to do it. 2 Likes |
