That Guardiola's statement is totally misunderstood. He did not say he hates the passing game. He is talking about there being a reason for every pass you make. Not passing to keep possession.

If there is a direct route to score, there is no use keeping the ball for too long.

However, aimless direct attack is frowned at if it leads to losing possession unnecessarily.

I doubt Spain will ever abandon the passing system. It is now part of their DNA. Thought in schools and academies. Played by almost all clubs in Spain.
