All three major marketers like Oando, AP, Total, Bovas are still selling fuel 180.

It's the small chain marketers that are jacking up the price of fuel.
When will you guys stop this blame game? Any system or policy that requires people to be of their best behavior to function has failed from the get-go. What is APC doing doing to make it impossible/discourage small-time marketers from jacking up the price?

The question is still waiting for an answer.

While we are waiting for the bolded to happen, what is wrong with collecting 5k or a De Rica of rice in the interim since you agree the current situation is hopeless.

Lols. What question?

From what I was able to gather, the marketers say its not from them. They said because NNPC is unable to distribute fuel to the various depot due to pipeline vandalism, some independent companies who own tank farms have to lift the petrol from NNPC and sell to marketers. They claim those ones are responsible for inflating the price.

They also said some very big marketers have their own tank farms or they can afford to buy in very large quantities from those who own tank farms hence the reason they can still sell at 180 naira.

Those of them who are small players don't have a choice. They claim they don't even get the fuel at 180 so they can't sell at 180.

NB: I have not verified any of these. Just putting out what I heard from the marketers. grin

You and the person you quoted are short-sighted and lack simple understanding of issues.

Believing Nigeria will develop is a hopeless situation.

The solution is either regional government or breakup. I've said that a number of times.

Ah great! Your latest solution is for us to move to regional government or break up. So, let's asssume we move to regional government or breakup today, how will this solve the issue of bad leaders, corruption and poverty across each region?

Lol I was asking a question, didn't you see the question mark? It was not a definitive statement, that's why my reply to you was still a question.

The question was clearly a rhetorical one because in the next paragraph, you stated that Some countries has these issues ( what issues?) and are working great .
In simpler terms, you claimed that this issues shouldn't stop Nigeria from working considering that some countries are performing well while experiencing them.

My question remains: Which country/countries are experiencing this issues we share in common and are performing better than Nigeria

P.S. My reference to tribes, religion and co was me trying to make this issues less ambiguous eg When you mentioned different religion, you failed to explain whether it is a 40/40/20 split or a 70/16/4 split like Isreal.

India GDP per Capita is similar to Nigerias

Their big GDP is simply due to their massive population

They are comparable in poverty for the most part

He is not aware that a couple of years back, around 500 million indians had no toilet. The India where politicians still share tampons during campaign.

The large marketers take their image and reputation seriously. Especially in places like lagos.

During one fuel scarcity a customer at one of our stations started filming and shouting that the pump meter was adjusted. The man was livid. You know how it is when your 4k that fills keg is showing 3/4 keg. The video went round sm and cascaded to me around 11pm. Next day we were at the station to investigate and of course the pumps had been adjusted.

But your small marketer has no such structure

Also - subsidy or underrecovery or whatever name it is is purely nnpc. Everyone is buying from nnpc. NNPC is the sole umbrella importer of pms into Nigeria from 2015. No marketer will being in pms. I am not even sure any major marketer was ever fully paid their subsidy arrears

As for nnpc they are busy trying to consolidate into a behemoth. They have money.

Obligatory

I actually try to use Indonesia and India as naija equivalents when trying to develop solutions

So if something can demonstrably make money in India, it will work here and it can actually have proof of value, not proof of concept.

One key difference from where I stand Indians will not Bleep over their country for small change.

They forced huawei and Co to sell telco hardware at a lower rate in India. Nigerians will just demand bribe and then let the shit fly.

Part of the Asain transformation started with Indonesia.

I have watched a documentary on how Indonesia's economy started to boom in the 80s.

There's nothing wrong if anyone refers to their history as a guide. There are still ideologies there that can be useful.

First world solutions cannot work over here. So when some bright eyed entrepreneur starts saying things like solar energy, green energy, first look to places like India, Indonesia etal to see if it is actually working there.

Even then there will still be the Nigerian factors, but you have a start.

I don't think I mentioned anywhere that we don't need to learn from them. Even building 110million toilets in 60 months is very impressive ( if they actually did).My point is that this countries are as much of a shithole as Nigeria

Apple is going to start making iPhones in India. Several companies are making India a manufacturing hub. Most hard drives are assembled in Thailand. If they get a flood, the it industry will catch cold. The US lost the war in Vietnam, but today they are doing a lot of manufacturing there.

All this means jobs, a growing middle class, leverage, forex. It is not rocket science. It is also something that ambitious, far thinking leaders can use to change the balance of power. The Western world is struggling to extricate itself from China. Covid showed just how far capitalist ojukokoro has given China the Gbola to Fk the west in the arse with.

Ignore that propagandist and his baseless obfuscation of the observed reality.

Pick up your phone to call the Chairperson of IPMAN (Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria). Introduce yourself and tell him/her you want petrol supplied to you. If he's comfortable with you during the conversation, ask him to tell you the landing cost and barge cost.

He'd tell you it's more than #180 per litre on the average. Call another one and you'd get the same price.

If you want, I'd do a conference call with the Chairmen of IPMAN for two states to confirm yourself.

These ignorânt fôöls think they can lie to everyone without check.

As at today, the only people supplying fuel (petrol and diesel) cheaper are oil bunkerers with (illegal) private refineries in the creeks of Rivers, Abia, Delta, and Bayelsa.

Fueling Station owners know this. Even major suppliers get from these people. I'd rather not reveal more.

80% of Indians follow the Hindu religion

Hindi(not English) is the official language of the country and Government. There is clearly a cultural homogeneity in that country that Nigeria very clearly lacks.

Comparing a country like India to Nigeria is completely idiotic, but I stopped being surprised by this guy a long time ago

It is very funny to compare Nigeria with a country like India which has a dominant cross-ethnic indigenous language, a dominant religion, and THOUSANDS OF YEARS of intermingling, and on several occasions over the past millennia, instances of political union.

Most of the different ethnic groups have been in close social and political contact for at least 2.500 years and on a number occasions you had a single entity controlling most of the country BEFORE the British got there.

The major stumbling block to Indian progress was avoided when Mohammed Ali Jinnah and his people insisted on a separate Muslim state at independence. This could have been done in Nigeria if our leaders had insisted on the North and South gaining independence separately.

With all these, at the individual citizen level the average Indian is only marginally better of than the average Nigerian. India’s advantage is about size.

Also in Nigeria, there are a good number of foreigners providing Jobs . It is simply because of the cheap labour which we provide and technical know-how ( India tops this list but we are comfortably there)

You can check the industrial production index and you will see that Nigeria is performing at par with Vietnam and Thailand you mentioned.

India "threatened" Twitter on certain issues but when FG did it with a view of getting tax( it wasnt their initial plan though) a lot of people critized and insulted them. A lot of people simply don't like Nigeria and it is funny because we growing at a good rate .
I still insist that all these countries fall within the same shithole bracket.

The last time I checked the only fuel being 'refined' by bunkerers is diesel. That is all they can achieve with their contraption operation.

And that diesel has a low gravity/density which damages generator lift pumps over time. It will do same to heavy duty vehicles.

No major marketer is going to expose themselves to the fall out from dodgy fuel.

A crooked dealer might, but that will usually have fall out as the fuel will damage dispensing pumps at which point grammer will start.

Dealers for major marketers are getting warning memos straight from head office.

I disagree as I am talking about products for commercial export. What finished goods are being assembled or fabricated in Nigeria for export to the west of High standards?

India has abandoned twitter long since for koo, where they can engage in cancelling of indias Muslims to their hearts content. That is how you do it.
