Odunayaw: Very funny statement. I think I will explain to you better. When I follow this things, I develop my own understanding of it for clarity. What we are using as a yardstick is the Barcelona play. Guardiola now said, he does not like Tiki taka. Many mistook it as Guardiola saying he hated the way Barcelona played. It is far from what he meant. Guardiola hates the idea of passing the ball. He is pointing out that even his Barcelona team made every pass for a reason to breakdown the opposition to score. Not for just holding the ball. You can read the excerpt of Pep Confidential below. So when you say Tiki taka, you are actually referring to the Barcelona brand of possession football. So when you say possession football is not tiki taka, my brother the statement is totally off.... tangent. Finally, Manchester City is one of the best possession sides in World football today. With insane ball keeping capacity. In that perspective, we can keep the ball as good as Barcelona did. So, your earlier position is flawed.

Odunayaw: By the way, no team plays the exact replica of the other team. However, there are similarities. Manchester City plays a high brand of possession football. One of the best in the world today. There was a game against Newcastle where we held 99% of the ball. If that is not as good as Barcelona's possessive play, what is?

Our irrational prejudice against older even proven players is retrogressive. Aboubacar made Africa proud yesterday his name will go down in history. He is a true Lion of Africa in the Here and Now. Young is not necessarily better , Ronaldo Messi, Zlatan and others including Roger Milla have proven it. But look at the vitriolic bitter acid rhetoric that Ighalo was bathed in was simply disgraceful. Ighalo , Obagoal have been my favourite players for a long time I can add V.Moses . Ayew missed the penalty ( shocking) it was very poor but he is still one Ghana's best players. Many dismissed him here as being too old and not good enough. But we would rather lift up a youth players steeped in continuous mediocrity over an older player with long standing proven quality. Food for thought. Cameroon first African country to beat Brazil, Ghana out up a hot fight if they had started the tournament the way they finished they would be in the groups stages. Ghana, Cameroon have given a good account of themselves and done Africa proud. Now let's the Lions of Senegal flog England and bring them down from their HIGH HORSE . |

Yes bro all the African coaches brought their A game. Song who I personally don't rate learned from his first game loss and made the Lions more fearless and determined. 7 wins (so far) for African teams and potentially more to come. AndSunGorilla: 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe:Possession football predates Tiki-taka And Tiki-taka is just one of the systems in that School of thought. All that triangular passing up and down the pitch [2 players vertically, 3 horizontally] Arsenal [ Wenger days] Bayern Munich Heck even Brendan Rogers Swansea played possession football And it was not Tiki-taka So what statement is funny to you 1 Like |

Odunayaw: You are now contradicting yourself. You said Tiki taka is not possession football, and now you are saying tiki taka is a possession football system. I have tried to make it easy for you. We have possession football. And then Guardiola came with a brand of heavy possession football. Like you can see in that 15 minutes stats that showed a 99% dominance of the ball. Now Guardiola played such with Barcelona, Bayern and now City. So when you say Manchester City does not play time taka, you are actually referring to the possession heavy brand of play, which is totally not true, when we have one of the highest percentage in Europe. So you were wrong at that. Finito. |
