I just weep anytime I read news about Nigeria. Politicians are the most heartless beast on Earth especially Nigeria politicians.

You are doing business but you don't want to pay tax? How can the economy grow without tax?

Once Nigerian government know what is giving their citizens joy, they come for it. Whether it is business or ponmo.

You are supposed to pay tax, but how did they arrive at the N10,000 flat rate?

I just saw it is an annual fee, that is not bad. In some states you would pay that bi-weekly. lipsrsealed

It is not too bad for an annual fee. Rivers Government should just put the money to good use.

These are the types of taxes that kill businesses, how much does a POS operator make to warrant such taxes after all the other expenses.

This is a state like Rivers State that's receiving a humongous sum from Abuja monthly, plus the all the billions that oil producing states are making.

Wike is a terrible mistake

10k constitute less than 2% of the income of a pos operator (at an average of 2k per day). This is a fair tax in my opinion.

Are you saying an annual fee of N10,000 is too much?

Oil money is not enough. So, states have to charge taxes.

What Rivers is doing is in order. Oil revenue is falling because of the high populaiton and theft of oil, and corruption. And the scary thing is that even if we removed stealing of oil, and corruption, and got the money back that was stolen....it won't be enough for our needs.

So, they do as sane countries do...and charge taxes.

My question is why is it a he signage and advertising agency that is collecting the said revenue? Is it payment for their small ‘POS’ signs ? That’s crazy

10k yearly as tax is not too much.
The truth is that Nigerians should embrace taxation as their civic responsibility. They should especially be happy when they see their tax paid being utilized like it is in Rivers, Lagos, kano, kaduna and some other responsible states.
10k is not much foe a year.
Wike is working and they are seeing their money.

How is it extortion? The average Pos operator makes at least 2k daily, in many instances more. 2k x 30= 60k
60k x 12 = 720k
10k makes up less than 2% of a pos operator’s income. Please do enlighten me how it’s extor.
