Truth is we have a serious knowledge deficit
Industrial level animal farming need industrial production of Maize and Soya to feed the animals

US produces 11 Metric tonnes of Maize from 1 hectare of land compared to 1.5 in Nigeria

Even cassava which we are the highest producer in the world we produce 10metric tonnes per hectare compared to 22 for Thailand

Pig farming requires knowledge and Capital just like with poultry. To do it right requires a lot of money. The market is there and growing

It's not peculiar to piggery alone. There are many units/sections of agriculture that could have been invested in and create employment for millions of Nigerians and also generate revenue for the government and citizens.

Sadly, they don't care because they can't make the type of money they embezzle within 4 years from agriculture. So, everyone can't sacrifice his belly for the citizens that elected them.

Oga the biggest farms in the world are owned by private businesses not government.
We do not need government in establish pig farms, it's up to you and me.

Because some mofos up North are calling pork haram and gradually killing off the consumers of the meat. Plus the fact that the farmers too are not farming with best practices.

I feel it is due to the fact that a section of the population does not eat it. Thereby cutting down d market size when compared to other animal husbandry.
Secondly, it takes a whole lot of input and effort due to how d environment can be stinking.

The few people that are into it are really cashing out!!!

I don't think it's because a section of the country don't eat it.
After all, alcohol sales generates billions of naira every year even though a section of the country and a lot of Christians down south don't also accept it.
It is actually capital intensive and requires a lot of time and effort to maintain.
Returns do not also come back immediately, so it requires some investment patience (which a lot of people may not have).
It requires a lot of skill and knowledge to start and to sustain if you are going to be successful in it.
It generates a lot of stench (though this is not major because even fish farming generates a lot of stench too).

The good news is that the few people into it are making a whole lot of money, some are not even able to meet up with customers orders.
