Again, court sacks Ebonyi council chairmen, 171 councillors

AGAIN, COURT SACKS EBONYI COUNCIL CHAIRMEN, 171 COUNCILLORS.

The Abakaliki Division of the Federal High Court has nullified the Ebonyi local government elections and sacked all the 13 Council chairmen in the state again.

The court also sacked all the 171 ward councillors elected on the same day with the chairmen.

Earlier, the court on August 25 nullified the council polls of May 31.

Ruling on the matter with suit NO: FHC/AI/CS/224/2022 on Friday, Justice Fatun Riman ordered the seizure of the monthly federal allocation of the chairmen pending when rightful chief executives are elected into office.

Fatun restated that the council election by the State independent electoral commission, (EBSIEC) on May 31 was illegal and unconstitutional.

Mr Mudi Erhenede, counsel to the plaintiff said he was happy over the judgment and commended the court.

“In the judgement today, the court has agreed that the Ebonyi state High court has no powers to override or set aside the judgement of the Federal High Court because it is not an Appeal Court.

“Those people, who are parading themselves as chairmen are not there legally.

“They were appointed by whoever that appointed them. CBN, Attorney general of the Federation, federal ministry of finance are all defendants in this suit,” he said.

The counsel to Ebonyi state government, Mr. Roy Nweze, said there was no need to respond to a judgement that had already been delivered by the court.

Nweze said the matter would be appealed without delay.

Let Dave Umahi do the right thing or go to appeal court instead of parading illegal chairmen and councillors

By presenting Tinubu, APC have failed themselves after failing Nigerians, and they know it. That's why they're frustrated and are constantly attacking Peter Obi. They wanted to portray Peter Obi as a nobody, but now Peter Obi's approach and has forced them to change their own approach to election campaigns. Peter Obi is setting the standard and that pains them. They feel the pain at the core of their souls. They brought in some ignorant urchins to Nairaland but Obidients rendered them useless. They're bringing in more urchins now and we still render them useless. Come 2023 we send the failures called APC packing. grin

Sack all those Niggers. In fact Sack the 36 states that are keeping people in poverty, Go back to regions with autonomy like you have in our creators the UK- England, Scotland, Wales, N Ireland…. Biafra, Oduduwa, Benin, Arewa….

What the phuck is wrong with that. It worked well in the 50s/60s, before foolish soldiers did their coups

The best candidate would have been

1-Someone with the loyalty bestowed on Asiwaju and who has contributed to the political scene by at least a decade and understands the terrain.

2-Someone with Atiku's political clout all over the country....Don't forget Atiku has gotten 11 million votes in the past.

3-Someone with Peter Obi's zest and energy and connection to the plight of the youths

But none of them have all these qualities....

We cant vote Obi because no be energy we go chop.Obi is naive and the owners of Nigeria cannot even trust him, because they dont have direct access to him.He is popular in the East.Nigeria is too complex to be presided by a nobody like Obi.

Atiku is also dicey because i just dont trust a man that has a second home in Dubai, his economic policies might be towards his own pocket. After being VP for 8 years with a president that was anti-corruption(Obasanjo). He has nothing to show in terms of contribution to national development.

Tinubu's wealth is stupendous, which is not unexpected as he became a king in Lagos state.....after acquiring power democratically, This is a dangerous precedence. He is also weak and old. What if he turns Nigeria to a monarchy...and becomes the de facto king of Nigeria.

All these 3 candidates are not competent to rule Nigeria. I wish something happens and all these 3 people go away for some nothing to lose, no nonsense person to fix the whole country.

Umahi, why did you spent billions of naira to conduct illegal local government election knowing fully well that such election will be annulled by the court?
Billions of naira gone down the drain in a country where many people are extremely jobless hungry and poor

Hmmm.

Until looting, corruption and embezzlement in all ramifications carry death sentence, the political class will keep raping Nigerians economically, mentally, religiously, etc.

Unfortunately the same politicians will keep blocking every move at achieving a better nation.

In 2006, Soludo as the CBN governor under OBJ, tried to introduce redenomination. Our politicians frustrated it. This cashless policy arose at the regime of GEJ in 2012. Presently, the political class are trying their very best to frustrate it.

Jagbajantis intete.

Since Umai joined APC his actions are dictatorial and his senses are stagnant. This is a man loved by all due to his infrastructural development in the state. Ever since he joined APC no more commissioning of projects. Congratulations to Ebonyi people.
