komekn:

At the heart of that is, " WORK RATE " It really does not matter how tactfully and technically astute you are , all the skills and dribbling will amount to NOTHING without work rate and team COHESION.

Exactly what the 2013 set had. Ideye-Emenike-Moses, etc. Haven't had this on a steady for 2 years at a go since then.

Wishing Morocco all the best!! Will the fairy tale continue I hope it does. Meanwhile looks like Morocco have tweaked formation, Amala dey bench today but thankfully Chidera can't come in and Aguerd and Saiss are back.

Bia Oracle man. Understand this and know peace.

Yes we have a decent list of midfielders across Europe (I should know, I have a full list of them) but we have poor midfield sync in the Super Eagles due to the coaches selecting imbalanced midfield combos EVERYTIME.

Our coaches can't seem to figure out how to pick the best tactically balanced midfield for the Team.

It is one thing to have options, but it is another thing to pick and use them right and establish tactical-technical synchronisation in the middle game.

Our midfield issues persist because we don't want to do the bloody obvious: Pick midfielders who will bring technical balance and tactical upliftment to our middle game dynamics. Simple. It is that simple but it is rocket science for these coaches.

Below is a near complete midfielder attributes/quality grading guide to help us class our midfielders and know which of them actually have what it takes to bring the balance we want to see in the middle.

TheSuperNerd:
Your question is quite on the spot and I will rather choose to answer it this way...

Let the best be picked from technical and tactical points of view for the team.

When we put these parameters below together against each player, we can tell who got it and who is needed most....

- Ball-playing Nous/Ball Handling IQ
- Press resistance (Ability to dribble away from a press, Ability to dribble out of a tight spot, Ability to dribble out of a press)
- Lines breaking passing
- Progressive passing
- Vertically progressive Carries
- Tackling
- Interceptions
- Box to Box
- Late runs into the box (sometimes from deep)
- Ability to hit strikes from distance.
- Ball recycling/Recoveries
- Ability to switch plays
- Passing range
- Workrate
- Pressing
- Game reading IQ
- Set pieces IQ
- Spatial Awareness
- Vision
- Spinal/Quick/Good decision making
- General Dribbling

*Will add any more qualities I remember.

So in the light of the above listed qualities... we can answer truthfully for ourselves.

We are playing 5 at the back on the defensive.

3 CBs and 2 Fullbacks/Wingbacks. Hakimi and Mazraoui expected to support Ziyech and Boufal respectively on both wings in offensive transitions.

They are the supporting cast to main man upfront, En Nesyri for any counter attacking transtion we will initiate.

That's why Amallah is dropped. Ounahi and Amrabat are the central midfielders. Ziyech and Boufal, as already mentioned, on the flanks.

Thank you the change in formation and cast kind of makes me uneasy personally, time will tell if this tweak is indeed a master stroke or mistake.

Walid is super aware of France's absolutely insane attacking quality plus France also has the midfield that serves as a good foundation for the attack to build on across various in-game phases.

I guess this is why he decided to sacrifice Amallah for an extra defender at the back. They wanna frustrate France's super offensive threats.

France are ofcoz looking good as heavy favourites, are in great form and they look like a team that could do a Brazil of 58 and 62. But time will tell. I know say Messi fanboys no go like this possibility. grin And I know na wetin Ronaldo fanboys want be that.

Two very funny fanbases. grin grin

Well, no matter what happens, Morocco remains My Bae. wink

So expect me to stay with Morocco till the end.

Thanks boss, France are for sure favorites on paper but your boys have shown they fear no team and many Goliaths have already fallen to their 11 Daudas.

The brains behind that France goal is Antoine Griezmann. His movements between the lines is absolutely devilish. Chaaaiii... no one picked him up at all!

His run was swiftly found by the French midfield and that was it. Chaos up until that Theo Hernandez goal. France deservedly 1-0 up.

Stats alert: Morocco finally concedes directly from an opposition team cry cry

It has taken 9 games and a total of 755 mins for Morocco to finally concede a goal (not owngoal) that truly belongs to an opposition team.

This is also the first time Walid Regragui's Morocco will go behind in a game.

I agree with you. What Griezmann is doing for France is exactly what Iheanacho should be in GWG colors as both lads have the same or similar profile as withdrawn forwards/SS but it's unfortunate. Low playing time currently also hasn't helped his development especially since his storming 20/21 season.

E dey pain me but na total truth you talk. With Nacho in the starting XI, our midfield is like -2.

Played well vs Sao Tome. Would you allow yourself to admit to the truth for once or you still wanna run on the delusions that we have a good midfield? Our midfield plays are rubbish. It was obvious against a good side in Algeria.

And where did I use below average in my post in reference to the lads?
