Meanwhile amoto and reccy don hold Labor Party hostage for Kogi

https://www.nairaland.com/7482477/labour-party-queries-kogi-state

The national secretariat of the Labour Party queried the Kogi State chapter of the party over the poor outing that greeted the Presidential campaign rally in Kogi state.

* It was gathered that most of the attendees, mobilized from neighboring Enugu State to Lokoja for the rally, invaded the Ganaja Road secretariat of the party and held party officials captive for several hours asking for their mobilisation payment.

So who go con give the requisite shishi like this now?

Anybody who understands the history of Nigeria would know that the country was designed like this since before independence.

This is the sad reality and this will impede any changes to certain laws because it is beyond partisan politics.

Debates and advocacy are great, the problem is, the North still has the highest representation in both houses, with over 90% of the representatives from the North being Muslims with strong conservative ideologies. Don't forget, many of the representatives from the South are also Muslims who also hold strong conservative ideologies

That means, it is nearly impossible to have any change(s) to these laws because members of the both houses irrespective of party affiliation will not support any changes that affects their religious beliefs on a personal level and more importantly the support they get from their base.

You are not going to get any kind of bi-partisan support from North on any of these changes, consequently, it is dead on arrival.

This is one of my main issue with religion. When laws are made from a religion it closes all avenues for debate.

If a law is made from other forms with no regard to religion then it can be debated and changed to fit in with new information and time.
Laws that are however created due to religion gives absolutely no chance for debates at all as adherents of such religion who were the ones that made the law come to pass believes the law is written in stone and it's true no matter the time. Attempts to debate on such laws would be met by violence or threats of violence and destruction.

A civilised society should try as much as possible to get rid of anything that connects their laws with any religion

I truly cannot understand the guy's obsession with Otem.

People who say that word are very clearly catching cruise. Fun cruise sef seeing many of the contexts in which it is used "hey, Messi don score, otem be praised".
Rather than just smile like everyone else he begins to defend the point.
Aoo1, you really need to chill about this Otem matter, when many people use that word, they're not even thinking about you. Stop being soo defensive about it.
Who's obsessed with anyone? Have you seen me post any links to any of Otem's threads on this thread?

Have I discussed personally or shared his book or email with anyone here in private or public? You don't know what's called obsession.

Sometimes, I like to set the records straight for newbies that may believe the lies of the mischief makers. Stop mentioning to say nonsense and face your campaign.

Some countries that practice Sharia: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iran, Pakistan, Brunei, and Malaysia.

What do they all have in common: They're Arab nations that speak Arabic language as their lingua franca.

Yet, we're to take the opinion of one nonentity on Nl that doesn't understand Arabic and is just a nominal Muslim seriously.

What a joke!

Egbon, ah tell you before now? The outing was very very poor. From my side, nobody get im time. We are only concerned on how to diminish Atiku's votes to the barest minimum. Like 80% to 20%... That is our strategy. But for senate, ah dy vote PDP.

1. I don't think what Deborah did qualifies as blasphemy

2. I don't support killing on the basis of blasphemy because of many reasons which I can write a page about.
i) Religion when you look at it carefully is silly and doesn't make sense to anyone who thinks of it critically (That includes the religion you and I follow -excluding Otemology though)
ii) Most religions are propagated by disrespecting other religions so if we want to do killing for blasphemy, everyone will end up dead.
iii) Blasphemy laws are usually subjctive to the interpreter. You can hear one thing that sounds blaphemous and I will her the same thing and be okay with it (E.g Tinubu calling Allah our father)
iv) Human beings create religion and move the goalpost when they want. So what wasnt blaphemous today can become tomorrow

3. All these opinions of mine become Bullsheet the moment I enter a location that has blasphemy laws. While I can say this openly here Nairaland. I dare not try it on Saudi Riyaland or Syrialand and definitely not on the street of Kano or Sokoto

All our opinions are bullsheet, bros.

We are just saying it is wrong. Justifying it with the law doesn't change the fact that killing her over that is wrong.

So it looks wrong if someone says she shouldn't be killed with fuel and tyre, but she should be killed by a court.

Na some of us point be that.

Sadly, religion is a powerful tool used to control the resources and direction Nigeria is heading and the North understands this.

For example, a simple legitimate question as to why we have an Arabic inscription on our national currency, especially if we say Nigeria is not an Islamic state, neither is Arabic one of our official language becomes a religious debate that will not go anywhere. You are not getting any lawmaker from the North to support or publicly advocate for its removal because it can lead to violence so we just leave it alone and pretend like it is not an issue.

There are many Nigerian issues that transcend partisan politics and it is intentional which makes @nihilist's point.
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A001: 9:16pm On Dec 15, 2022
Discussing Sharia, which lies at the heart of Islam, dissuades moderates in the South-West that may want to support the extreme punishments meted out against so-called blasphemers and apostates.

However, those that really need the message aren't on Nairaland. The average northern youth doesn't have access to the Internet and can't rub minds with intelligent posters online.

People like Amoto that can effect a change are too rigid and conservative to make any impact. And even if he isn't, there's little he can do to admonish his violent brothers in the North to shun religious extremism and embrace reason.

The solution is to get away from the North — as far away as possible from those barbarians: regionalism or breakup.

If not, online discussion can't really have much effect on the northerners who hardly have access to the Internet.

A sizeable percentage of them can't even read. Illiteracy and lack of exposure are part of the problem.

But religion is the bigger and major problem.

All your points are reasonable except the Otemology part, which is a word you just coined.

What the hell is that? Are you the one to build a religion around a nairalander that neither him nor his fans are unaware of?

All what the Otem guy advocates is use of the brain (reason) and shunning religion. That's all.

Care to educate us about what Otemology is and what your reference is? I came across that term for the first time.

Kindly back your post about Otemology with proofs from Otem's posts so I can know you're being factual, not trolling like those m.orons: iamoyindamola, Ebukacute, and OasisX.

No time to read or reply nonsense mention.

Earlier in the day, I used OpenAI to learn Data Structures and Algorithms in C. The platform gave impressive responses to my questions and helped solve some coding problems.

However, when OpenAI becomes mature and optimized in the near future, it could be a threat to junior developers and programmers.

This tech may take away jobs of newbies in the industry, though it'll create new ones.

I'm an atheist so this would most likely be read as a biased take but I'm of the opinion there should be absolutely no punishment for blasphemy and it shouldn't even be considered a crime let alone felony especially if the religion or god being blasphemed against is regarded to be very powerful and our creator.
Its always a sign of a god not being real when humans are always doing everything for such a god.

It's humans that would tell you there's some god

It's humans that would tell you that this particular god out of all the other gods is real/most powerful

it's humans that tell you a particular religion is the true one from such a god

It's humans that would hand you a book and say its some god that wrote/inspired it

it's that book humans gave you that would say what that God wants you to (not) do

it's the book humans gave you that'd tell you what would happen after you die even though none of those that have claimed to have died and come back to life had ever described the same afterlife in detail

it's humans that then get angry when you insult such - a most powerful entity - god

it's humans that would then sentence you to death for insulting that god or that religion

finally it's human(s) that would carry out the punishment for your insulting such a god

Makes you wonder why there's this most powerful entity but it fully relies on humans to do everything even the most basic thing for him/her. it's almost as if humans are the actual gods they claim to serve

I would've been more accepting of blasphemy laws if there's observable evidence of blasphemers like me dying in absolutely unexplainable circumstances showing there's a possibility some god got so angry at our insults that he decided to kill us but the fact that it's humans that kill us for insulting a powerful entity shows something ain't right

If gods being insulted were real and as powerful as adherents claim then blasphemy laws wouldn't even be needed at all so I see blasphemy laws as just a way for religious people to protect their delusions by killing those who don't agree with theirs
