As far as it will stop Tinubu from buying votes, it is a welcome development.

No more bullion van. All the money Tinubu gathered that he wants to use to influence 2023 election is wasting away now. That is why he told his boy, Femi Gbajabiamila to kick against it. You saw when House of rep kicked against it. It was Tinubu that instructed his boy to kick against the CBN limit.
don't be too sure about that ooo, tinubu and his enablers will have access to any amount of cash they want, don't be deceive by central bank and their useless policy, the poor man will end up being the victim of this policy.

Strong democratic countries invest in education and promotion of family planning for this very reason. Fools can be made wise by educating them. Then they will vote right and demand what they deserve from govt.
Northern Nigeria alone is infested with uneducated folks. It will take more than 100 years to have them all educated. There are uneducated folks in America, I believe they have fought against illiteracy for 100s of years. It is important that we all accept democracy for what it is.

So many illiterate and semi illiterate artisans out there operate with cash! Market women, labourers, food vendors...how will they manage? Yes, People will adjust eventually; but is it the best for an economy like ours?

Artisans would receive wages within the minimum withdrawal per day. Traders all of those small small cashes, should not be above 5k or the 20k minimum withdrawal. Anyone who would receive 10k should be doing sth big, and they should be able to afford an android phone and at least have a little bit of education which would enable them understand how mobile banking operate

The policy says use electronic or internet banking to make transactions that are beyond the daily or weekly withdrawal limit!
redsun:
I am sure they are especting the econmy to go the zimbabwean way soon ,especially if the doomed masses will still be dumb enough to allow a rogue like Tinubu or Atiku to run the crime inc nation again. The policy is absurb and can only work in a failed economic situation.100k can't cover two shopping trips for essentials things in shoprite for a week for a normal individual. It is unimaginable, and somewhat extortionate with the percentage they will be asking for exceeding the withdrawal limits.

Ur own is just to be supporting bad things. Do u know what is going on in cbn? Emefele is doing all these just to divert attention from the fact that the whole stamp duty and other charges like NIP transfer relaized for the past years is in his pocket. Buhari directed him to open a centralized acct for that money since 2017 but he refused. Buhari secretly constituted a house committee on the recovery. The report of the findings indicates that trillions of naira is in his hands. Hon Gudaje have the findings, if u know the underground things going on in this country u will think twice before saying certain things. Do u know emefele was detained by dss of recent? Do you know how he try to block all the investigations against him? If u are a youth then u should think twice before supporting somethings before these people are wicked.

Instead of cbn and govt to focus on how the country can be productive, self sustaining and export driven, they are focusing on the valueless currency, nonsense and ingredient.

I know beforehand that fraudsters and money lunders will find this policy hard on them and they will pay those useless media houses to publish lies about it.

Fraudsters are the first ones to learn to use technology, usually. They have been using transfer and cryptocurrency to move money around for years. It's the rest of society that is dragging their feet.

This policy will impose more hardship on the poor and mostly rural dwellers in the interior of the country.

This is just people in the offices thinking for those in the villages and Hamlet's.

In a country where there is no electricity, telephone facilities have not reached the interior, data facilities are poor, inflation is ever increasing ...... the digital financial sector is still growing.

The CBN Governor has shown that he is his incapable of managing the devaluation of the Naira.....

You are one of those hindering the progress of Nigeria and ensuring that we remain in dark age. Common cashless economy, you are standing against it.

Enforcing cashless policy in a primitive and near lawless nigeria is like putting a cart before the horse. There are more fundamental things that the counrty requires now to steer it in the right direction , the most important of which is accountable and productive leadership.

It will work. Nigerians can easily adapt when they have no choice. Cashless is here to stay. I'm glad house of Reps supported it.
I have a question

Cashless yh?
All my banks

I use 3

Access bank
Zenith bank and gt bank

And I have not had a day without complain

It's either no network,
No alert, or no credit atall

Or worse
Mobile app won't open for hours
No apology
No notification

Get stuck without cash because you can't access your mobile app

So how is going to work when I need 200k

And I can't withdraw more than 20k and its a matter of urgency or God forbid life and death situation

Let us not forget that over 3 trillion naira cash has entered circulation since this government came to power in 2015. i.e. they were PRINTING MONEY . It is not as if the GDP was growing so where did that cash come from Mr Emefiele. Was it Kidnappers that printed it?

This may be seen as an attempt to cover their tracks as their tenure comes to an end.

NIGERIA ain't India, and if the cashless policy is not imposed on us, then it may never happen. There would always be critics to state how itll affect us. The benefit of this cashless policy is way too large to consider its little downturn. Nigeria besides have the fastest growing improving banking system in the world.. make the policy and see wide range improvement. Soon mobile wallets would have a platform where you can pay bike and car drivers as little as 200 via transfer without charges. The policy has both short and long term benefit while the downside is only shortie as we are one of the best in adaptation.
No rook for thieves hoarding cash any longer.

Only advice I can give any old school is to get a good android phone and also learn how to use and secure it. The world is pushing forward and sometimes people are left behind, don't be left out.

Hmmmm. Bros, even with the millions of people that are unbanked in Nigeria? Remember that a lot of these folks form the base of our economic value chain. My advice is that this policy should be gradual and not rushed. The unintended consequences will be too overwhelming for our shaky economy.
