If manual v6 vs auto v6 happen to be on highway which one is more faster and speedy, same engine different transmission?? |
Re: Manual/ Auto In Terms Of Speeding by nurey(m): 6:20pm On Dec 13, 2022 |
saysugar: If it was before that's 90s to early 2000, it would be manual transmission from stop to quater mile back then most manual always lift off than auto, manual also always have a better 0 to 62mph than auto. But currently it would be a Tie also depending on driver, the automatic transmission may have a edge here because the computers became more effective and responsive, so if the manual driver isn't timely, he would drop back. Above all a Bugatti at 200km/h has same speed as a micra doing 200km/h, if both were side by side, they would finish at same time. 7 Likes |

saysugar:It all balls down to the type of auto transmission in the car (gear ratio matters too) and driver's skills. A newer and modern auto transmission is designed to shift faster than any human could possible shift, so I'd choose the auto to win. 4 Likes |

There are many reasons why most high performance cars only use manual transmissions. They accelerate quicker, perform better, and don't limit you as the driver. And when you are going that fast it's important to remain in control of the car. |

ariesbull:Stop giving this analogy. The fact that you can shift them manually don't make them manual transmission. A proper manual transmission vehicle comes with 3 pedal. Anything short of that is not a manual transmission in this context 1 Like |

jceesquare:so if you feel you know it F1 which is the highest sports in car space still uses manual ....you can't say you actually know how to drive if you can't drive manual The reason why they don`t use Automatic transmission is that it is along the lines of automatic driving. F1, as a sport, tests the driver`s capabilities as well as the team`s ability to make enduring and fast cars. Automatic Transmision would make the sport less interesting as it would require nothing from the driver This is the interior OF McLaren F1 racing car .hope you saw the gear keep arguing

ariesbull:I actually don't want to indulge myself in responding to such argument but for the sake of those that might come here someday to get informed about this. The picture you posted is not for an F1 car please (at least not for any modern F1 car). Kindly see the interior and sitting position of a modern F1 car before you misinform the public. Now tell me how you're expected to work the clutch with your left foot when sitting in that awkward position? Formula One cars use highly automated semi-automatic sequential gearboxes with paddle-shifters (a simple google search would show you this). I doubt you understand what a sequential gearbox is. 1 Like

I don't know about straight line/road race (boring Sha). But you see corner-corner road, nothing will make an automatic transmission catch up with manual transmission. Na there driving sweet. Nurey, I lie? |

Re: Manual/ Auto In Terms Of Speeding by Kelvin30286063(m): 8:40pm On Dec 21, 2022 |
Hmm, I use to console myself with the believe that manual is faster cos I drove two manual cars as a new car owner back in the days but since I started driving auto, I've come to realize that what you make up for in pick up speed in a manual car, it's all recovered back at the end in an automatic car. There is every likelihood that if you pick up 5 seconds earlier in your manual, the automatic may still get to the finish line before you for two reasons, if you're not accurate in your subsequent gear shifts while the automatic (with a good gearbox) is always 100% accurate and if you're so unlucky that the automatic has a pedal shifter, you're done for. |
Re: Manual/ Auto In Terms Of Speeding by nurey(m): 7:06am On Dec 22, 2022 |
mejai: In this your corner corner race, you have added variables which cannot be controlled, if the automatic has a paddle shifter then it has balanced the equation then the skill of the drivers would determine the race outcome |
Re: Manual/ Auto In Terms Of Speeding by nurey(m): 7:14am On Dec 22, 2022 |
Kelvin30286063: Don't forget that an automatic transmission focuses mainly on fuel economy combined with reducing wear and tear reason many basic auto transmission would shift gears between 2500 to 3000rpm except for sport oriented vehicles. Then Auto would delay gear downshift in order to minimize fuel loss while climbing hills, a downshift would inevitably reduce speed For your last line if everything is same between the auto and manual and the same driver was behind the wheels, if the manual lift off b4 the auto I don't see how the auto would eventually catch up |
